My trucks got only 68,000 on it with the PO216 code. The thing that bugs me is it runs real well, with a little lesser mileage, but, the code was cleared and has not come back. At least with a half hours worth of driving anyway.The problem is, this truck is the one I use primarily for long distances. Blue Chip Diesel says it won't leave us stranded. I am hearing conflicting reports on that.How many you guys ever got the 216 code and your truck kept going many more miles? Thanks a bunch for any advice.P.S. I'm already scheduled to get a new VP on Tuesday. Just can't put my finger on it though. :ashamed::shrug:

I got it one time nearly a year ago, cleard it and it hasnt came back yet. I would hold off on the new vp if possible, for a while anyway to see what happens.:spend:

My trouble is I don't want to see what happens down in the middle of Yosemite National Park . Only because of the longer driving distances with this truck, I don't really know what to do. :think: . Yes money is tight too.

If u have that kind of extra money, Buy it, don't install it just take it with you with required tools and if it does go out you have it ready and can swap it out, And if u don't need it u can return it. Don't fix what aint broke... Just mad at ur money haha Good luck

Normally the vp will cause hard starts and/ or low efficiency and power. Think you would be fine. Run some two stroke in it and watch for code and symptoms ..... You could sell as a useable vp on CF for around $500 if code doesn't come back and your upfront about code , mileage and how truck was running

JAG,Keep running what you have until you have some symptoms. Presently, from what I understand, you are showing no symptoms, just the one time you got a code? If that is correct, quit worrying about it. The chances that you are left "high and dry" are very slim. I won't say that it happens to all of them, but my brother has been driving a dying vp44 for about 6 years now. It is an internal electrical problem, and only occurs when cold. (dead pedal when cold.) He just adjusts his plans to never use it cold.I agree, due to the nature of the electrical boards, the chances of putting a not perfect one on as a replacement is extremely high. Hag

and if you do replace it and it is time to install it..make sure the key way is at 12 oclock ...and a little trick to keep the woodruff key stays in the shaft is to put alittle super glue on the key and tap it in so that the top of the key is paralell to the top of the shaft...AND...when the pump is on your bench with the shaft facing you.make sure that the numbers on the key match the numbers on the pump and that you dont have the woodruff key in 180 degrees backwards..just a info for you.

Thanks to all you guys. Looks like I've bought a new rebuilt pump sense it came in yesterday to Vulcan Performance.It came from Midwest fuel injection for $1089 w/ new electronics. They rebuild their own pumps there and only the housings are rebuilt at Bosch. Midwest said they do 3,000 pumps a year with a very low, low failure rate :thumbup2:. BTW, My oem VP gets the 2 cycle, every tank, since 30,000 miles when bought, with f/p on 14 all the time, till I got an AD a few months ago and run 17.5 p.s.i..A buddy of mine says go for a long test run to see if the code comes back. Will keep you posted.

jag that is where i bought mine...i got my truck in 12/'09..and in january '10 ..for a piece of mind i installed a new mwfi.com pump..a FASS 95..and a new apps..just the $169 one...two cycle diet since day one...not one single hiccup....and it has been 115 degrees here with alot of humidity..still going!! congrates on the part!!

Well leave it to me to be the only one with all the bad luck. :lmao: Mine started acting like it was running out of fuel so I pulled in fueled it up of course it only held small amount. 4hrs later I was pulling it home :whistle:

Are you showing error code po216 with a scanner like mine?
