I`m going to be doing some work on the old GMC 2500 today. It has drums on the rear and I would like to check the adjustment.... In the past I have always dialed them in to the point of installing the drum and not being able to feel any friction.. My understanding was that should self adjust any time you back up with the brake applied?? I`m just looking for input from anyone who might have a different theory..

Have put 2 tanks of fuel thru my 2016 Silverado 4x4, with the 5.3GDI, 6speed auto now. First tank netted an even 19mpg (hand calculated..........overhead read 19.4) driving strictly in M5 to shut out 6th gear and avoid it going into V4 mode. This tank also included about 40 or so miles of towing my work trailer. Second tank netted me 22.2mpg (overhead reading 22.7) also driving strictly in M5 again. No trailer towing on this tank. Pretty nice so far.

Collected my new to me AM General M50 6x6 truck last Saturday, took a while between buying it and actually driving it back to the farm where our workshop is which BTW is also new to us (my brother and myself) we just moved into a 3000sqft shop PO of the truck told me it had fuel but if I wanted to put some in there was room in the 50 gallon tank so I took 40 litres of new but unidentified engine oil, 20l litres of gas, 20 diesel and 20 cat 50w axle oil, guess that tested the "multifuel " capability, ran perfectly, 5 speed manual syncro with 2 speed transfer box shiftable on the move with a twin disc clutch, PTO too, gearbox layout took some getting used to as …

I own a 1977 Camaro that is currently being restored by me. She currently has a Small Block 350 and a TH350 Automatic. I have plans for an LS motor within 5 years, but would like a manual tranny within the next 2 years. What is the best Manual Transmission (4 or 5 speed) for her current 350, and her future LS.

I was doing some work to this truck for a friend, the radio was working fine the previous night but I turned to down to see if I had fixed an exhaust leak. The next day I pull it out front to figure out the non-op fog lights. I pull the fuse panel and find the Edge CTS monitor stuffed behind the cover. I know it was smogged earlier and was unplugged. I proceed to reload the tune, always been set on economy, not that it helps with a 6.0 gasser. As I'm going through the motions, the tuner asks me to pull the radio fuse. I pull a fuse from the PDC labeled RAD and continue loading the tune without issue. My friend comes to get the truck and the radio is on but no sound…

Just thought I would share what I'm doing with this old girl. We bought this to use as a grain truck/dump truck around the farm. It was cheap and it works so it fit the bill. Yesterday I was trying to get the heater working. I found exactly what I expected. The heater box and blower was converted to a mouse condo. The blower motor works when tested out of the truck. I believe the switch may be bad, or a wiring issue. It had no power when in the truck. I removed it to inspect and found the mouse house. Then removed the entire heater box from under the hood to find even more. I'm now in the process of cleaning this all out and replacing heater hoses since they were …

I have a '67 Chevy C50 farm truck I've been thinking of converting to HEI from the original points. Not sure what I need to do it. I've heard it's easy just want to get everything I need before I start. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Today I received code P0172 on my 2017 Chevy Malibu. It states " The Emissions System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Exhaust Emissions System which monitors and controls exhaust gases released into the air from the engine. If the vehicle is continually driven with this light on, the emission controls might not work as well, the vehicle fuel economy might not be as good, the engine might not run as smoothly and could lead to future repairs. " Has anyone in the community here had this code, is it common in a car with almost 17,000km?10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254 hotmail.com

Hello, My fuel lines rusted and developed a leak. I found a Dorman replacement for the Supply, but none for the return line. Also, at the Fuel Module Connections for these lines, there are some very small O-rings on the Module end fittings which I want replace. Does anyone have experience with replacing these fuel lines and know a source for these O-rings and a new return line? Thanks

Looking around under the hood of the 2016 Equinox we just bought for the wife. I am finding most everything except the trans dip stick. Just not there. So I go to the owners manual and all it says is the fluid change procedure is complicated and you need to take you vehicle to the dealer for a fluid change. Aint that just lovely. So I looked around on the interweb figuring there is no way it can be that difficult. Well sure enough I find a you tube video and a guy telling it is not that difficult and he is going to show how easy. Go to the next scene and there he is standing under the car that is on a lift. Guess he figured we all have a lift, not sure what he is thinking…

I've got a friend just down the road from me with a Chevy Sonoma truck. We pulled the factory 6 cylinder out now stuffing a 500 HP Chevy 350 V8 in this body. We are in the stages of fitting the engine and transmission last night. We had to cut the cross member a bit to fit the 7 quart oil pan in there. It going to be a tight fit but one hell of a quick truck. Little two wheel drive Chevy Truck super light. Chevy 350 CID... Got lots to do yet. Still got to mate up the transmission after we get a torque converter. We got custom exhaust headers coming. We've got a built TH400 trans going behind this. Yup I was there working on…

Yup I'm now starting to travel for work some. Hooked up with an old friend and doing work on his 1990 Chevy 350 Pickup. Steering column came loose at the tilt. Then a new hood cable. Getting more complex the master and slave for the cluch needed to be replaced. Bad part thevtubing rust together and broke. Fun installing that line. Now I'm trying to do a thermostat and power steering hose. Sad to say the passenger side bolt on the thermostat broke and the power steering hose to bound up too. Oh fun.

My son just purchased this truck. His first vehicle. Two questions. The transmission shift good until you smash the throttle. You have to let off slightly for it to shift. Is there an adjustment some where on the transmission or a bad solenoid possibly? Next question. When you first turn the key on the fuel gauge pegs back and forth a few times real fast then stays at empty. Is this a bad gauge or sending unit?

This might be a dumb question. I have a 2016 Chevy Impala LT - V6 97K miles. A couple of months ago while driving my Stabilitrak popped on and I felt the car "jerk" quickly. It's been coming off and on a few times since and I normally have my phone plugged in through a USB port and run Android Auto. Funny thing is - it doesn't pop on when I don't have my phone plugged in. So the other night I'm at a red light and the Stabilitrak kicked on but this time, the car completely disengaged, almost like it went into neutral. I switched gears and the indicator light with all the gears was all white. It wouldn't switch to drive or neutral or reverse. For about 30 sec…

So I was given a 92 gmc sierra 1500 with a 4.3l. I've recently been trying to get the a/c going but have been having hell. When I first did anything with it, I just recharged it and got the compressor to spin but it wasn't blowing anything. So I suspected either the orifice tube was clogged or the compressor was junk. I ended up having to buy another line and condenser because the threads on the orifice tube line were galled and stripped. After I did that, I recharged the system and added about 1.5oz of oil to the system, and it was working beautifully until the compressor suddenly started grinding really bad, and it stopped blowing cold. I figured it gave up …

My wife's 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 developed a misfire on cylinder #1 which was accompanied by a strange chirping sound. I set up a dial indicator on the rockers to check the lift and sure enough the intake on cylinder #1 was about half of what it should be. This is what I found after tearing the engine down. There were no spun bearings so the only machine work needed is to have the crank journals ground and the heads resurfaced. I am deleting the AFM/DOD garbage from this engine. I already have a new non-afm cam, lifters, lifter trays, valley plate, various bolts and gaskets, and the ECM has been flashed with the correct f…

We just swapped a 550hp 383 into my friends 1980 corvette. He has a FAST EFI system on it that he's no longer happy with and is going back to a carburetor. He just ordered a 750 Demon carb and I am giving him my spare Holley red fuel pump. I run the same parts on my 67 mustang with no return line, been that way for years with no issues. His car has a return line already on it, do we need to use it or can we just cap it off? I have seen there are fuel filters with return ports on them so using it wouldn't be a big deal, I have just read some posts stating a possible pressure drop from doing this. Here's some eye candy to go with this post.
