I am working on a home made PSG unit and needed to know the min and max absolute timing. So I improvised a degree wheel and blew back into the #1 port with the pump shaft key way centered with the mark on the front of the pump by the seal. I could blow back about 30 deg before and 30 deg after which is +60 and - 60 at the crankshaft. I noticed that the port starts to close up about 3 degrees sooner because of the port hole width. There is also about 1 degree of overlap where two ports are very slightly exposed. I then measured the rotor, slot and ports then did the math and it confirmed my findings. So never try to inject past ~54 degrees either…

I have a 1999 dodge 3500 1 ton cummins. I would like to add an EGT gauge. The problem is that at one time the exhaust manifold cracked. The PO had it welded ( it apprears they did a good job). The weld is right through the center of where the recommended spot is to drill and tap for the probe. Is there an alternate location where the probe could be located? I really don't know if I want to take the chance of drilling where the crack was.

I have a problem that is bothering me. I suspect the lift pump is going bad but I want to be sure before Idrop the money on a new one. This has been a rough couple of weeks and money is tight.I had my gauge acting up and bouncing all over (Glowshift). They sent me a new sender and all was good. Took it for a test ride and verified that I had pressure. Not real good pressure but 12lbs. at idle and 6 at WOT with the Quad on. Was talking to a friend and the pressure just dropped to zero. Power off type of drop, not gradual. Truck stayed running. Shut it down and restarted it and pressure came up for a little bit and then off again. Put a mechanical gauge on along with the el…

My 24 valve is a RWD and not a 4x4. I have one tire pulling and would like to change that to a limited slip so both would pull if needed. I have been stuck in the yard of a house we rented after heavy rains. I had a rear end changed over to limited slip by a garage that was supposed to be best. After parts and labor it was a shocking $1,200.00 and that was back in the early 90s. It went out in less than 9 months, completely shot. I wished I had done it differently. So with all of that being said should I seek out another Master Mechanic to add the parts to make it limited slip or find a rear end from a yard and go that route. Maybe as long as I stay on solid ground it wil…

Ok so i have a problem with my raptor fuel pump.I've had it for about a year and when i got it i got 3/8 lines. and i would see about a 5-7 psi drop with ds2.Now i just upgraded to all 1/2 lines including from ff to ip and a draw straw 5 and at 30psi fp i can get it down to about 4.(I know 30 is high but i set it there to see how low i could get it with out running to 0)I replaced the ff and checked/tightened all fittings. What could it be?Its driving me crazy. The only thing i can possibly think it could be is the "Straw" at the bottom of the module. When i installed it it seemed like it was a little close to the bottom with not much of a "Slash cut" to it.Could that being…

Today in Massachusetts it -5 degrees. Went outside and started the truck. Let her warm up for 20 mins. Running like a champ. Fuel pressure reads 0 psi. Went through the diagnosis found the fass fuel pump fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse got my fuel pressure back. I couldn't believe how well the truck was running just off the injection pump. Without the fuel pressure gauge u would never know the difference. I would have been driving around with no lift pump, till it blew up the vp44. Wondering why the fass blew the fuse, thick fuel? Everyone needs a fuel pressure gauge with these trucks.

I sent my ecm in for repair and WTS seems to work correctly but now on odometer I have a no bus message. Also abs, air bag and mil lights are on. Odometer codes are 900, 920, 921, 940, 950, 999 and gauges don’t work. Codes are p1698 and p0237. What do you use if you don’t have DRB III tool? Would really appreciate any help you folks can offer. Hello All,I currently own a really nice 2004 F150 which I plan to sell to my brother and purchase a 2000 Dodge 2500 4x4 camper special Club Cab LB 6speed sport with 166000 miles 1 owner truck. It just had a new lift pump installed due to a recall that had not been done as well as several other items ...Brakes, vacuum harness for transfer case, tires batteries I forget the rest..Could you all give me a few ideas what I need to look out for as I am taking this out for a test drive and beyond? I am pretty sure I am going to purchase it if it everything the seller claims. Thanks for your input,Chris

So...need honest answers. What's the worst case scenario if a rear mounting bracket isn't used for the vp44. I've heard of guys who had 200plus or more not notice until the vp44 change. I honestly dont feel like pulling the steering pump and try to easy out a broken bolt out of the block. Had anyone heard of anything go catastrophically wrong if there is no rear mount?

I have browsed ever post on 2nd gear lock up. I am still confused! I didn't have the mod done when I recently had my trans overhauled because I wasn't sure what I could expect from the mod. Just read a post where the person said the truck would continue on into 3rd when in lockup. Will it do this if I have the selector in 2nd? I have a triple disc converter and a stock input shaft. I can't afford any surprise hard shifts when in lockup under a hard pull (13,000# load). I want to use 2nd lockup only to use it with selector in 2nd, then unlock before shifting to higher gear at the top of the grade. Will it do this? It would be most helpful if someone with the mod could expl…

I have searched and found nothing on the Hy35 turbo. I had my truck at a friends shop last week for an alignment, while test driving I asked him to run with the scanner on, he first ran with the edge comp on and then with it off. the boost pressure at idle was reading 10-11 psi in both scenarios then went up to 28-29 psi in both scenarios. I was wondering if this is normal or if there is any way to test the actuator on these turbos. the line b/t the housing and the actuator is steel, not rubber. I have had the rod b/t the actuator and the wastegate off and the wastegate moved freely. Thanks in advance, Luke

First posting as new member. Anybody have a link or ideas about a "back up" fuel system ready to go if current system falls apart? Had Air Dog system (100) installed last Feb after Fass system ( that was installed in 2004) started giving problems. Of course this couldn't happen at home. Between Dealer having a 3 week wait to get in (because snowbirds like me) dealer actually told me they won't fix it because it is not "stock" and had to have work done at actually 3 places (butcher shops) that really abused my back pocket. Wondering if I could install something that I could just turn a ball valve or maybe a switch to use one pump system and use "back up" …
