I have an 01 Ram 2500 5.9 that the clutch was just replaced after sitting a few months, picked it up and drove 30 plus miles no problem, next day drove 20 miles and it just quit, no sputtering or anything, just shut down. Had it towed and have checked and replaced fuel filter, bleed system, getting fuel to injectors 134. Codes, (key method)P1693 and P0122. Have electronic apps, have reset, but that should not keep from starting. Cranks strong, just will not start. maybe, fuse/relay or wire loose? any suggestions. Thanks

To start I have a 99, 2500, Auto, 2x4, 211,000, Lift pump in tank with Relay, 275 HP Bosch Injectors. I am the second owner & got the truck in 2001, IIRC it has 15,000 on it. To make a long story short, I just finished doing a bunch of things I have been putting off for too long now. Recently replaced (in order of installation): Vacuum pump (http://www.fixinrams.com/) PS Pump (https://www.genosgarage.com/) & Hoses (https://ormebrothers.com/). Brand new Bosch 275 HP Injectors (Had Edge Jammer Stage 1's & wanted to see the difference) ECM from https://carcomputerexchange.com/ (Lift pump was not turning o…

I finely found time to write the article about my version of the mystery switch. I hope someone with an automatic can benefit from it.

2001 Ram 2500, 5 speed, 4x4, 183k, 5.9 Cummins i was going about 50mph after driving about an hour, I got a dead pedal intermittently for about 10 seconds, then the truck died. It cranks strong, but will not start. No signs of any combustion whatsoever. Will fire off with a spray or two of ether but dies as soon as ether is burnt up. Codes: P0122, P1693, and heater grid code (can't remember the code number) Filter bowl full of fuel. Fuel filter changed about 3 weeks ago. 15 psi out of the lift pump. Swapped fuel relay. Swapped cam position sensor. Opened line out of ignition pump and have fuel when cranked. Opened line at #1 inj…

Is there a 200 degree thermostat that I can put in my 2001 24 Valve? Can you post the link to one, or a part number? The region I'm in sees temps averaging between -15 to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Opinions are always welcome!

I have a fairly good idea of how the lockup switch works. I am curious though, if you install a switch but don't have the switch on, will the converter lock/unlock like normal? Do you have to control it 100% of the time if you install the switch? I'm not really sure I need or want to do it, these are just questions I keep asking myself every time I see a post related to it.

Today making a drive to drop off some deer meat to be packaged, my trucks alternator voltage jumped to 18v for a couple of minutes, then went back to normal. First thing I am going to check is my grounds. If they check out to be clean and good should I put in a external voltage regulator like on the 12 valves?

Ok gang... I'm going to share a few tidbit of information for advance OBDII tinkering. If you happen to have a OBDLink or ELM327 tool you should be able to tag along here. I will have to give a bit of thanks to @Me78569 for getting me started with the Bluetooth terminal on Android. Once I had that I could directly communicate with the OBDLink and pass commands to it. So starting out I passed the command... ATSP0 This basically tells the tool to communication with the detected protocol of the vehicle ours happens to be ISO 9141-2 protocol. After that I passed the command... 0100 Which happens to be PID Mode 01 with the PID 00 which tells th…

Next weekend when I drop the trans to install a new southbend I'm installing fast coolers and a trans temp gauge also. What should be considered hot for these trans? I'm running royal purple syncromax if that makes any difference.

Ok I love the sound of my truck, it’s straight piped to a large tip and has an open air box with great turbo sound. But I have to say it, it’s too loud. So simple question, can I make it quieter without sacrificing flow? Looking maybe at muffler or dual mufflers or maybe some sort of attenuator. I daily drive and use this for normal stuff like going through a drive through or stopping to talk for a second with friends or other parents at my kids school. But I also use it like a work truck, towing and hauling campers, equipment, firewood, etc. Can anyone help with this dilemma?

Too good to be true, the truck was running good, not overheating. Last night, I saw a puddle, maybe an oil leak. I checked and after running, it is leaking a mixture of oil and antifreeze by the front case, above the oil pan. It's lost a quart, it runs fine, but the killer dowel pin is a possibility. 2001 shouldn't have a killer dowel pin? Has anyone heard of this, and is the likely source the water pump? The engine runs, so the engine seems okay. Thoughts? And thanks for the help.

Hey guys, This is my first post over here. Id like to thank Mopar1973Man for having this forum and for all the information he contributes. The trouble code walkthoughs are an amazing resource. I am trying to resolve P1689 and P0215 DTCs. Truck: 01 QCLB CTD Auto 4wd. Pertinent upgrades: FASS system 95gph, smartry and original quadzilla adrenaline. There are lots of other upgrades, but none that should relate to my question. Backround: Truck was sitting for the better part of two years. When I stopped driving it, it was running well. When I came back to start it again, I had a no crank issue that ended up being a bad ignition switch.…

I contacted Cummins to see about a replacement ECM. They have them for $2700. The 3946242RX part number also goes by ENCORE CM551A. But then I also see a 3942860RX (CM550) that also claims to work with a VP44 for $1500. And also a 3944124RX for $1300. But these other two, I have no compatibility info on. I love how the overnight shipping for a 5 lb. part is $250.

Hello Everyone, Well over Memorial Day Weekend the 47re began its slide to the point of no return on my way back from my camping trip. I knew this day would come when I purchased the truck (mechanical items don't last forever) so its no real surprise (still feels like this though ). Taking that into consideration, I have always planned to convert my rig over to manual as I am a 3 peddle guy. I am not concerned with the $$ (sort of) but am really concerned about doing it right with a solid end product. I decided on the nv4500, so I will be needing help from all of you 5 speed owners (or past 5 spds). The goal of this thread is to seek knowledg…

I've done the P1689 troubleshooting steps. I made it to the end of step #8. According to the steps, that means my ECM is bad. In keeping with the idea that "it's probably not the ECM," I've been trying to double-check the communication between the ECM and the VP44. I tried to put an oscilloscope on the VP44 today, to see if I could see the data. If I see the ECM's data, then it's the VP44 computer, not the ECM. I saw something that looked like PCM data, but I couldn't figure out how to set a stable trigger on it. I put channel #1 on the black & white wires (Pins 1 & 2), and put channel #2 on the green wire (Pin 8). Then I tried to tr…
