I was inspecting my intercooler hoses this afternoon and the lower ones have seen better days. So I figured I replace all the hoses regardless of them leaking or not. As far as hose kits go are some better than others or are they pretty much all the same?

When I went to Council, ID to pick up part for a fire truck my buddy that I work with requested a 5 gallon pail of part solvent. When the part counter man brought out the pail it was clearly marked "Stoddard Solvent" on the side of the pail in bold black lettering. Now knowing all that I know in fuel additives I know there is a few fuel additves with this in it... But remember that this chemical has a few different names... Here is the Wikipedia pages on it... Mineral Spirits http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_spirits Stoddard Solvent http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoddard_solvent So be aware there is some fuel additives like MMO that include this…

This thread over on CDF Q asked what causes ring breakage? I'm not sure how true it is but one reply states that engine oil cools pistons but fuel lubes upper cylinder / rings. This is interesting in light of fuel lubricosity of ULSD vs ULSD + TCW3. I just wanted to bring this discussion to everyone's attention.

My 99 3500 lost boost coming home the other day. No lights came on and after about 20 minutes it came back to life and ran great the rest of the way home. Now when I start it up and take off, it has no boost in the beginnning but will gradually build up to around 10-11lbs as the truck warms up. From there it's anybody's guess as to how it will act. Going from nothing to full power again. It starts great and has yet to throw a light. I just took it to our local Napa and had them plug it in to pull the codes and it showed nothing at all. Not even in the "Stored" side. I did try the APPS reset and that seemed to make no difference. It's showing 10-11lbs fuel pressure at idle…

I have a "wait to start light" that doesn't come on all the time. I have to cycle the ignition switch maybe 5-6 times before it finally comes on, then truck will start. No light, no start. I have a 99. Just bought it from a friend, he had this issue before the vp44 took a dump. I replaced pump, truck runs awesome once the light comes on. Did a search of the internet and now can't find the articles I found before.:banghead:I love this truck!

I can't find my earlier posts on this... Every once in a while, the truck would not more than grunt. I'm only using it intermittently every couple of weeks. I have a 1.8A solar trickler on the dash into the always on lighter plug. The thing is, a hour on charge or a jump will fire it right up. The batteries don't seem to take much charging to spin it over. My first thought is dirty connections. We caught a nice warm day yesterday & I cleaned all the battery terminals with wire brushes. They weren't really bad as I have the treated felt washers under them all. I did see a spot on one that just looked a bit oxidized. I found one terminal (Pos on Driver's…

Needing help with a sporadic p 1689 code. It's the only code I get and it only when I have been driving for a good bit. (Daily 20min drive to work won't trigger it) vp44 is new ish. (2 years may maybe 50k miles) was from DAP and was one with a supposedly rebuilt pump "brain" I have gone through the really helpful guide on this website. Everything tested good except the step on the ECU. Im shure it could be the ECU but want to rule everything else out. Fuel pressure looked good on the quadzilla ecu voltage looked good tps was steady. Truck drives fine but will suddenly go through a fit* and cut in and out then be done and drive fine. It has recently started to rev on st…

Over the past few days i've found that there is a dead spot in my accelerator pedal where either right off idle or at cruise at about 1/4 pedal the motor will drop in output, and if in OD the converter will pop in and out of lockup as if I were making wild swings with the accelerator pedal. I haven't checked for codes yet, but I haven't seen a check engine light either. Otherwise the truck runs great. New batteries recently, and I really should check contacts and grounds, but its a weird issue regardless. Any bright ideas?

2002 24V w/Auto Trans. All Stock. The past 2 weeks have been riddled with an intermittent Check Engine Light, Erratic shifting and a Voltage gauge going from just over 14V down to nothing, triggering a Check Gauges warning light, then within seconds the gauge climbs to 12-13V and the Check Gauges light goes out. The intermittently flashing CEL usually coincides with erratic shifting and hunting of the lockup converter or what feels like clutch/band slippage in auto tranny. Started with checking the batteries (Good), checked the Field wires from PCM to Alernator and the PCM was not sending signal (Dark Blue wire). Continuity test of the dark blue and the green wir…

Good day. Over the past year I occasionally open my hood to see dryed antifreeze spotted on my upper rad hose and valve cover. My temp has always been fine, I never really have to add antifreeze to the truck because it looks like the "leak" is more of a spray. Figured it was a bad/old hose looks like the area of loss is always at the horn into the motor. Took Genos Garage up on it's hose discount of April and ordered up new hoses and clamps, installed them, did a coolant flush and things have been fine. A few days ago I got out of my truck to walk into work and there was a puddle underneath, popped the hood and everything was soaked from the same area. I wire brushed that…

Hey Guys, I really need your help on this one. I have been chasing an intermittent dead pedal and hesitation issue and I'm not sure what could be causing it. It does not happen all of the time, there will be days that i drive the truck and it doesn't happen at all and other days where it happens multiple times. It doesn't matter if the engine is warm or cold either. It usually happens under acceleration, but it has happened while cruising. I will go to accelerate from a light and nothing happens when i push the pedal for about 2 seconds and then it will kinda sputter and then accelerate like normal. I put a new VP on the truck in July and after talking with Mast…

I have the pedal issue. It will go a mile or two and lose the pedal. I can turn on off the key and it runs great. I checked for continuity of the wires and they were good. Low voltage less than 2 volts at the apps. It has a new apps sensor and the Ecm was checked out and was good and the Pcm was rebuilt 50 miles ago. Along with a new vp44. I am checking grounds but I am at a loss. Any ideas?

Hey old pals! It’s been a long time since I posted! So after I fixed the air leak in the fuel line the truck ran perfect up until about 3 weeks ago. This happens with both warm and cold starts but mostly when warm. I turn the key start it and it willsputter a little bit and clear up on its own within 6 or 8 seconds. No check engine lights and everything else is working well. Any suggestions? My thoughts are something with injectors or another air leak. Currently getting 18.5 mpg. Thanks fellas!

Hey guys/gals. I have been having this issue that comes and goes, mostly under very low throttle or idling. The RPM’s will barley move up maybe 200 rpms very briefly. My fuel pressure stays steady at 17 PSI. The below video is what I am speaking of. As you can see, and this is the first time this has happened, the check engine light came on. My dad has a scanner I can plug in to read the code, however any ideas at what might be the possible issue. Thanks. [video] I also just noticed my temp gauge surges as well and then drops to zero after watching the video.

Truck Specs: 2002 Dodge Ram 2500hd, Std Output 5 speed. Mods: BD-Diesel Flow-max Lift pump, BD-Diesel Exhaust Brake, AEM Brute Force HD air intake, Bully Dog Outlook with Performance Enhancement, Stock Straight Pipe. Recently my truck started intermittent miss at idle, and stumble during normal acceleration, under load / no load / from start.Truck has plenty of power, and good fuel mileage, Both conditions are random with no codes given, other than above exhibits no other issues.I've had issues with the bully dog outlook performance device in the past, causing stumble but goes away when I place it in stock mode. From what I've read on line in several places, it's been su…
