99 Dodge 24 valve. Had the lift pump changed to teh tank about 5 years ago. Threw a Injection pump code and intermittant flat pedal and put in a new injection pump just before Christmas...HoHoHo. The code returned along with the flat pedal and the shop says my fuel is antifreeze green and my level is down in the radiator. Apparently the fuel return goes throguh the head and there it is picking up antifreeze? I have had this truck 7 years, bought it used. I am meticulous about watching the temp, and have never over heated it, and do not over rev it. Now I apparently need a new head? Only 125,000 miles. Ever hear of such a thing? Any options out there? Color me f…

I got a call from a local gent that I done work for in the past. I replaced his lift pump and injection pump on his 1999 Dodge Ram. He called up today and told me of his tale of limping to New meadows and having the truck die on him. What he described was low fuel pressure with weak power. I told him to come and pick me up and we would roll out and look it over. After checking over the basic stuff I'm not hearing the Raptor lift pump running. I opened a test port and purged the system and it barely crawled up to 5 PSI. Ok. So I cranked up the regulator and got it up to 20 PSI for now to get it home. It last about 2 block and got weak again. Hmmm... Test gauge again... Fir…

I am in the middle of changing another VP I have done so many of these I keep one in stock on the shelf in my shop, but i have 8 of these trucks to keep going. Anyway I have been trying to figure more out about this pump, at least why they fail, more to the point why mine fail. I normally take them off send them away and thats it. I know it is either the electronics or the mechanical part. My question is has anyone went in a dead pump to see.

Well found out the hard way on my way in to work this morning that when the fuel gauge says 1/4 tank it really means empty?. Never ran it down much past half always keep it topped up but was running late so I figured I'd stop for fuel tonight on my way home. No such luck. I was literally 4 blocks from my shop when it just shut off. Was like what the?? Tried restarting, bumping the key to check if lift pump runs. Check sooo made the embarrassing call to the shop had a tech come with some fuel to get me to the shop. I ain't gonna hear the end of this from my guys for awhile lol.

I've gotten this code recently on my 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 with the Cummins 5.9l diesel. At first I thought it was the APPS as I was getting the dreaded dead pedal syndrome with no other symptoms, but it has progressed to having a little chugging or missing at highway speed under heavy load. Mostly I get a completely dead pedal when first starting out and cold, but then it will usually clear and begin running fine. I've confirmed the APPS is fine with an analog voltmeter hooked up while I am driving; the voltage change is smooth and continuous even when I am not getting any actual throttle response. I've also confirmed the lift pump is fine by hooking up a pressure gaug…

Hello there I have a 2002 2nd gen automatic 4x4 alt 5.9 24valve with 50k miles. I have lightly modified it. 5in Exh, bd exhaust manifold, s&b intake, Quadzilla tuner, air dog 165 4g fuel pump. I don’t want to get crazy with it but it needs more power to pull my trailer. I do want the best of the best. I’m wondering what you would recommend for brand and size injectors/turbo. Anything else recommended for better solid pulling power. Also after getting these things should I go ahead to do arp studs with new head gasket. If so what brand head gasket would be best or go back with a new oem head gasket? Please enlighten me cause there are so much to choose from.

1999 stock 24 valve Cummins. 2wd. Over 350k on it, when purchased in 2011 I was told some work had been on the transmission, but not sure what (it had 278k at that time). We live on good 'ole Monteagle mountain, and this truck's main purpose in life is hauling a horse trailer. I don't need anything fancy, just dependable. About a year ago, while hauling the horse trailer on the interstate it shifted funny a few times, and the engine felt like it got bogged down. No biggie, maybe bad fuel or something? Drove fine for months. Randomly, the odometer/speedometer, and port where my ScanGauge plugs in quit working About 6 months ago, the tru…

I see alot of you guys are using the Edge. So, you just plug it in with a splitter to the MAP, and mount it, then you are good to go? How would I spec one out for my engine, being it is not in a Dodge? It was mfg. in May 2000, and the truck is a 2001 MY, truck was built around the same time as well.

I have been wanting to do some reworking of my return line setup (stock 12V setup) and it's just a little weird. Now my question is, do the 24V's have the return for the injectors going straight back to the tank or do they somehow end up back in the inlet side of the VP44? I don't even remember seeing any return line things on the 24V injectors so did I miss something or what? The 12V engine dumps the injector return fuel straight into the fuel filter, so the whole return line setup remains at inlet side pressures. The only return line that has no pressure (goes to the tank) is the one on the P7100 that dumps excess fuel from the lift pump. Basically I want to get ri…

Well this may be more of a general question. Will the driveshaft and rear wheels turn if my truck is up on jack stands? Just finished installing the BD solenoid upgrades in my 01 2500 47re and Im not getting any movement from the driveshaft in any of the gears. Doing a lot of work on the truck which is why its up on the jack stands.

The research ive done seems to say that the rear seal on the nv5600 is leaking. Where is the best place to get a seal and is there any seals on the transfer case that i should do since it will be off? The trans was rebuilt less than 20k miles ago so seems weird that its leaking that soon. Here is a pic of where the leak is coming from and it is yellow in color and i dont mean the yellow paint lol. Cant see the oil in the picture. Want to make sure i get the right seals that will fix the problem. Thanks

Here is an excellent article, by someone who knows, on oil, filters, antifreeze and gear lube. What he says is why I WILL and AM using synthetic oils. http://www.boss302.com/oil.htm

Fuel boss mechanical fuel pump . About 30k miles on it. Lately i'm noticing random odd fuel pressure fluctuations, mostly pressure is occasionally going higher than expected, like 25+ psi. The strange thing about it is it seems to be happening when it shouldn't be like when I'm towing and revving at near wide open throttle about 2500 rpm or above etc. I would think the pressure should be a little lower when the engine is demanding more fuel. Other than that I can't find any rhyme or reason why this is occurring. Any suggestions? Is this anything to worry about? Thanks!

I recently had my stock lift pump go out, I was told to go with the DRRP because it is wasn't not chipped. Well now I am wanting to put a Edge Comp box on for Milage increase as well as a little increase in power. Will it work? My truck 99 cummins 2500, quad cab, 4x4, short bed, K&N cold air intake, looks like three and half inch straight pipe, Hx35 turbo wastegate not plugged, It does have bigger injectors between 40-75 hp not sure though. Tranny rebuilt 22k miles ago triple disc torque converter.

Well I had a major case of bad luck this morning. I had truck loaded and trailer hooked up to carry off a load of scrap metal and went out to start the truck while I checked tires and straps. I had brake brake set and a block in front of trailer tires. shut the door and started back to trailer and the d**n park brake let go with truck facing down hill and then the trailer rolled right over the block and truck took off down hill. I tried to catch it but ended up falling and getting run over by back truck tires and trailer tires. I had to lay there and watch my truck roll through a small thicket of brush through the barb wire fence twice and the hit a tree. I couldnt get u…

Just received my Edge today and the instructions say to return your trucks ECM to stock. I have no idea if the previous owner has left a program on my truck or not. The gauges he installed points towards the idea that he did have a tune on it, anyway I can know for sure? If so, whats the best way to go about this? Or is it really not a huge issue... it says potentially ECM or engine damage can result... last thing I need right now.

So I noticed yesterday that I had a decent little puddle of oil under my motor yesterday when I went outside. Nothing huge, but more than the nothing I usually see. I'm having a hard time figuring what it might be though. I kind of figured it was the vacuum pump leaking, but I don't see an actual leak from the junction point between the power steering and vacuum pump. It might be coming from further forward. I'm getting most of the leakage down onto my pitman arm, then blowing over my front suspension etc. What I've Noticed: -Oil dripping down the driver's side near the frontish part of the motor, definitely somewhere behind the timing cover. Most…
