For some time now I have not been able to switch the Transfer case into N and therefore no 4l either. I have 2wd and 4h. This happened due to my dumbness. Last year when I swapped my tranny I caused this. I had the truck up on jack stands and the truck was idling and I was going between P R N D to make sure the tranny was working. Now I made the mistake of testing the transfer case with the wheels off the ground so even in P the rear wheels were moving slowly. once I kicked it out of N iin the transfer case It grinded but finally went into 4l. I then tried to go back to N in the Tcase and it grinded again and when into N. After that I put the rear of the…

At this point this is more a place holder that will be moved to a article if we can get stuff working with the Torque app that communicates with the ecm via a cheapo bluetooth obd2 adapter. Out of the box the app doesn't read much of anything. You get RPMS, load, coolant temp maybe. Very basic stuff, however you do have the ablity to enter custom PID's and have the app read values manually. Figure if we could read tranny temp, oil pressure, boost values etc it would be a VERY cheap way for some of the guys to get at least some of the gauges they need. MAP PID: p0102 from what I can see? so firstly, has anyone done this work yet? No point in…

Well, got my diagnosis from the trans shop today, the 47re needs a full rebuild. They want to charge me 1500-2000 for a stock rebuild and 2500-3000 for an updated rebuild. Considering I could buy a waranteed reman for that or do a 5 spd swap, I think I'll be going elsewhere. I'm looking at Shift Rite (out of Kankakee IL) or Smart Parts. Both have warantees and seem comparable. Any words on which is better? Shift Rite is a couple hour drive away so I can bring my broken trans in and make sure it passes core inspection, then leave with my new trans and save shipping cost, so I like that idea. Any other brands out there in the $1500 range I should look at? …

Mulcher flashed my ecm last summer and it must have included the high idle update. Temps have been near 20* last couple of nights and the high idle came one after a minute or so of starting. Running about 1,300 rpm. It's running on 6 cylinder high. I do not have the idle fooler mod.

Additives are flying off the shelf! And I'd bet we'll see a repeat of last year, the warehouses are getting low too. I'd recommend to the family here to buy a couple extra bottles in the next few days. By next week, It could be gone!

Looking at this problem appears to be a real pain to access in order to replace a simple gasket.I grew up doing my own repairs on gas engines, & don't know enough about diesels. I have learned from running out of fuel, how to bleed the system quickly. My main concern is do I have to remove the injection pump in order to do this, or is it possible to replace the gasket with the pump in place? Removing the pump scares me,because it went bad & was replaced 6 yrs.ago costing me $3,600 bucks! The shop replaced it but had to take it to a dodge dealer to time & calibrate it with the ecm,& that Cummins couldn't even do it cause Chrysler had changed the codes & …

did my semi annual driveshaft greasing today, and I did replace a front joint. I also noticed the CV is getting a little funky. (you know the little 'cup' for greasing the centering ball... the one that is next to impossible to grease!).. So, a quick search and I think I'll go with a custom type shaft. Littons out of Salt Lake shows a brand new, all Spicer components, with 1350 CV joint, (oem is 1330 series) for about 350 bucks. Any custom length, and balanced...

Hey all, I've been looking for info on the issues my 47re is starting to have and I can't seem to find a set of issues that is the same as what my truck is having, so I need some help troubleshooting. I'm a broke college kid and I need my truck up and going strong for winter snow removal but can't afford to have the trans professionally done. Starting about a week ago, the trans started slipping from a dead stop. This didn't happen often (maybe 5% of the time) and still isn't happening often, but now I get this whooshing/whistling noise once in a while and the truck won't shift cleanly into 3rd. I have to be going over 2000 rpm and then drop below 2000 while mainta…

got a airdog original pump on the truck right now and been looking at the Fuel Boss Mechanical Lift Pump System. I was wondering if anyone has had put one on yet? I want to use the airdog filter setup up on it, if it is possible or do I need to buy a different filter set up for it? Would really like it better then the airdog because im sick of messing around with the airdog and would like to have something that is really reliable. If anyone knows someone I can talk to on making the fuel boss work with the airdog filter setup that would be awesome thanks guys.

Well after leaving my truck parked for a couple of weeks now. I fire it up and now I can visibly see oil smoke just a puff at initial start up and gone. If its parked in the shop you can smell hang in the air. As for driving there is no oil smoke under normal driving conditions. Now this might be park of the last bout I ran the exhaust brake and would see it after a long down hill run. I'm starting to wonder if the valve seals are getting sloppy? There is no blow by.

This may sound like a 1st grader question, but here goes. My 2001 with an HY turbo while pulling in the mountains will make the EGT's climb very qiuckly to the point that I have to back off and downshift to keep them in check. I have the stock exhaust, stock air filter, 47RE, 4.10"s Fass 95, gauges, stock sticks and oversized tires. I have searched this site looking for a remedy for to keep these EGT's in check. What I think I have gleaned is that I could swap the HY to a HX, put a aftermarket larger exhaust (by the way, my exhaust system has what looks like 2 mufflers or a cat and a muffler) maybe a BHAF and bigger injectors to help this situation. I just hate being pas…

I'm having some brake issues that I would like to get figured out. I believe I already know the answer but I would like some advice. My brake pedal is starting to take a longer then usual time to return. About every other brake, the pedal is just slow to return, I can manually take my foot and pull it back up and it will release the brakes. My vacuum pump was leaking oil, so I bought the seal kit to change it out. While I was in there, I decided to change the power steering pump. The install went great, everything working fine. Then the power steering pump developed a leak at the bottom pressure line that I didn't notice and it ran all the oil out of the pump. After I…

Just in case any one is wondering I changed the oil filter at 7k with the first UOA and I haven't added any oil since before the 12k sample was taken. Very pleased the ol' girl is holding up this well.

Well ever since I've starting to work with Lindy I've really taken interest in making my truck near perfect again. I'm actually chasing down all the little weeping leaks. Like I've known about a fuel leak for quite awhile in the back either #6 injector line or the return at the back of the head. So since I've been keeping the rig washed down it really showing up now. So now I pulled the valve cover snugged the return banjo. This really made the job easy to reach the banjo bolt. As a matter of fact the IAT sensor is a breeze to get at without the hoist ring and the valve cover. Then backed off and reseated the injector line. So later on I got to degrease the back of the en…

Hello, I have a 1999 24v what developed several problems. 1. batteries get drained overnight 2. takes it several minutes to get it to charge 14 volts. 3. lift pump will not come on with key switch 4. lift pump will not come on with bump of starter. Replaced alternator----same problem. disconnected batteries for 1 hr. Now lift pump will come on but it takes 5 to 7 seconds to come on after key is turned on. Still takes several minutes for charging to get to 14 volts. lift pump is not making enough pressure when running. Batteries are less than 1 yr old and they are interstates. lift pump is a fass that replaces the factory lift pump. its 2 yrs old. I …
