I have been thinking about puttin a new exhaust on my truck, but there is so many different brands to pick from. I'm lookin for opinions to see who has what and if they are happy with what they bought. Thanks y'all.

  3. On the fuel module…Is it desirable to have fuel return go back into “collection” basket? If so why? Am I right in my thinking or am I missing something? As long as fuel is getting sucked up with no leaks and 21 psi with ½ fuel line (at idle, don’t know about WOT yet) doesn’t really matter how return fuel is hooked up to. Other than return has to go back into tank. If fuel return matters, I can put in back in several ways…using draw straw or the fuel filler hose that has a metal fitting with connection tube or fuel module. But fuel module fittings are 3/8 inch line I think. (I fixed the sump, no longer leaks and now plugged off and want to a…

My stock exhaust is still good but the tight bend over the rear axle has rusted thru. At 65k miles why couldn't I just cut that off and run the tail pipe out in front of the rear tire? Getting rid of a bend sounds good, but, are there any problems doing that? Smoked tire?Eventually I'll go with good aftermarket muffler, flow through something like that, any recommendations?T.I.A.

Since the weather has been warming back up, I have forgotten that I still have a problem with the truck cranking because of air in the fuel system. I think I'm convinced that the fuel lines supplied to me from AD are now dry cracking and allowing air into the system. I recently discovered fuel leaking from the top of the tank. Something I think is attributed to cracked fuel lines under pressure... It does not leave puddles, but it does drip occasionally. Any thoughts? I'm thinking I might want to redo the line with something else, but dunno what. I also have the JIC(IIRC) fittings, which would need to go or I have to retrofit everything... This mak…

I have recently developed a distinct random tapping noise from the engine it normally does it at running temp and is more noticeable at idle. Could this be a injector, cam follower? I hope its not a piston skirt. What's ur all take on this

Is the banjo bolt on the clean side of the filter (left side in the picture) holding the line to the VP44 the same size as the tapped banjo bolts geno's garage sells? I want to replace it with a tapped banjo bolt so that I have an access point to test my fuel pressure once my permanent gauge is installed. In other words, I'll be using the capped port on the clean side of the filter for my permanent gauge going into the cab, but want to be able to hook up my test gauge to test the accuracy of the Isspro I'm installing (mech) using the line out going to the VP with a tapped banjo bolt, but don't want to take that bolt out if it's not the same size. Thanks. Lastly, is this a…

Damn was getting ready to do the WT ground mod and noticed the upper mount tab is broken on my Alternator. It's a bosch. Are the bosch and denso alternators interchangeable? I've been shopping around for a replacement but seems to be some confusion about the correct alternator, depending on the eighth digit of the vin. ( in my case it's "C") Advance auto has the actual bosch alternator (based on the alternator part#) but the listing says it's for trucks with a vin: 7 https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/bosch-premium-100-remanufactured-alternator-al6400x/20851271-P?navigationPath=L1*14920|L2*14999|L3*15587 Rock auto has an alternator …

All, In my area, its not unusual to find a craigslist ad for complete suspension for a 3rd gen Ram. Usually they put a lift kit in and then the flip the suspension on Craigslist. I ended up buying everything (3rd gen track bar, shocks, shock towers, springs, steering dampener, track bar...) for less than it would have cost me to buy new control arms from Chrysler. So not only do I have lower control arms, i am halfway to a trackbar mod and I have softer 3rd gen springs if I decide to make the truck ride nicer. The LOWER control arms on the Ram 2500s from 2003 - 2009 work on our trucks, and they are completely boxed in and appear to have a stronger bushing than the stoc…

Wednesday i drove my truck around all day with no problems. I pulled up to Dollar General about 2 miles from my house, got my stuff and came back out to go home and the truck wouldn't start. It just turned over. Tried multiple times but no start, just keeps turning over. So i called a buddy to come tow me home. I'd say about 10 minutes later as i was waiting on him, i tried to start it again and it fired right up with no problem. So i drove it home and shut it off, started it again with no problems sitting in my drive way. Friday morning it started up with no problems, drove it about 10 miles and came back home. Truck sat for about an hour, I go out to start it up an…

  16. I found some interesting document about the way that diesel fuel is shipped and I'm going to share these document with you... http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/dieslub/notice.pdf <- Some information on how diesel fuel is now shipped. http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/dieslub/hor.pdf <- More on how diesel fuel is handled. http://www.ncagr.com/standard/diesellub ... r11504.pdf <- How North Carolina is handling diesel fuel. Basically diesel fuel after being refined is well above the 520 HFRR rating which is unacceptable by any standards. So its up to the delivery personal to add the lubricant package to the truck before delivery. Currently I cannot find anything that insu…

Hey again guys. Picked up a '99 2500 today with a few issues, chief amongst which is the converter not locking up. Overdrive works just fine. I began troubleshooting today, but I could use some input. It had a bunch of codes before I began measuring, most seemed to be related to the previous owners lockup switch because once I removed the jump between the relay 30 and 87a pins, and installed a relay in its place the codes could be reset and wouldn't come back. Now, according to the previous owner the lockup suddenly stopped working, not gradually. Solenoid assembly is new, and I've checked the contact at the transmission, it looks good and clean. When I measur…

  18. I got one of Winslow's high idle boxes and the truck is awefull picky of when it will let it work. I tested the box with an ohm meter as per Winslow's instructions and it works correctly so I have ruled that out. Soemtimes the truck will start to idle up and then get to about 1000 rpm and just drop back off to 800 or so. Other times it will not idle up at all, even when its in the teens outside it should idle up on its own. The otherday I put the transmission in neutral it it idle'd up right so I thought it was the park switch but then the next day it idle'd up in park. I drove around the pasture loading up round horse panels and put it in park and hit the high idle switc…

Alright, so I bought this truck for cheap, its a 2000 2500 automatic with fairly low miles. It has a fass platinum lift pump. When I bought it the injection pump was off, so obviously not running. The po had bought a new injection pump from bd diesel, a new pcm, a junkyard instrument cluster and a "new" ecm. He said the truck was running several times after the injection pump was replaced, but kept dieing and he was done with it. So I put on the injection pump, ive got it bled at the inlet to the vp, and all the easy injector lines cracked. Tryed cranking it a couple times, not a kick. It keeps throwing codes P0122, P01688 and P01689. I looked them up on this site for con…

I have been running without a boost elbow for some time and I installed the adjustable elbow today and there is no increase in boost pressure, 27-28 lbs and I am still getting over boost code. Also, if I get into it hard, as soon as I let off there is a poping noise, like a backfire in the area of the turbo. The poping noise just started last week and has only done it about 5 times and is intermittant. When I installed the boost elbow, I turned the screw down all the way, then back it out about 1-2 turns, still get the code and same boost numbers. Then cranked the screw down all the way, same results.Any ideas?
