OK, Brainiacs, from my last post, I changed the U/L ball joints out last weekend. Once you get the hang of what you're doing, it's not to bad. Well, around Tuesday, I noticed a light blinked on the dash, bottom middle. Didn't know what it was, till I got home and used a flashlight..... 4WD light. I thought maybe, the bulb was going out. So I put it in 4H to take a spin around the property.... the light didn't come on, but it went into 4WD. Today when I left the house, the light started blinking, almost like a strobe light when I was driving. It would go off when I came to a stop, but then when I get to around 35, it starts blinking again, but sometimes it goes out…

Ok, for some background, I’ve got 11 years working as a heavy wheel mechanic for the army and I’ve taught basic electrical, so I’m not a complete Mo-Ron at least when it comes to this stuff. I completed the WT mod as well as the PCM protection fuse … before the mod WTS would come on after about 5-6 second (I know) and truck would start right up no problem. Would do the trans lock unlock deal other wise run fine. During the mod I noticed some real janky wiring on the APPS harness (see pics) I repaired the broken and damaged wires and tested good continuity. Also noticed someone tapped a ground to the blk/blu wire on the apps harness …

Are 275 TV injectors still ok for slight up grade or did something better come around? Towing ability? Found real old write up but can't link to work. i went a step above the 275's and got 60HP injectors, they give you a real 275HP, over the 40 or so you see with the RV 275's. as for install and removal of injectors see my write up guide herehttp://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/255-24v-injector-install-video it includes videos and everything.

I know that a sucker is born every minute. Ran into a old gent today while filling up. He was driving a F350 and told me he had been putting 1 Old Fashion Moth Ball per 3 gal of fuel since he had 8k miles on his truck. The truck now has 110k miles on it with no problems. Claimed he increased his mpg by 2-3 mpg's. I did some research online and found more negative than positive comments. I did find a formula of 1 ball per 4 gals. Is anyone doing this with a Dodge Diesel ???

I have the older style of high idle kit and the other day that I was diving and got a p0113 code. Pulled the code and found out that it was the IAT temp voltage was to high. I tired with two different code readers and couldn't clear the code. I pulled my high idle kit off and plugged the factory harness back into the sensor and was able to clear the code and have gotten the code back. Is there anyway that I would be able check to see if I have a short of some sort in my wiring or check the switches? Also from time to time I would select the 6 cylinder and then it would switch over to the 3 cylinder high idle with out me selecting it. Would like to have my high idle back u…

Hello all;I have a simple question, that may not be a simple job, but....I am in need of a new cab, instead of spending all the time cutting and welding new floors, rockers and cab corners. I have a really good deal in front of me, it is a cab from a 1995 ram gasoline, now I have a 2001 ram diesel, are the cabs interchangable for those years??? If so are there any suggestions to make my job go smoother, is there any drilling or cutting??? or if anyone has done it before what was the order they went in for taking things apart? Thank you very much.

I probably shouldn't be bothering you fellas but you look like you know whats up! I have a 2001 dodge diesel and around 2003 I bought an Edge programmer box model 2000.2b model 141075.. Such as it is! Anyway I had a neighbor who wanted to buy it, so I took it off my truck, and he decided he didn't want it! So recently I got a wild hair and decided to put it back on my 01 dodge for helping tow a 31ft. 5th wheel. Any way I misplaced the installation instructions {dumb ***!} so I'm screwed! So the problem I have is you have to splice into the three wires on the map sensor with the three wires from the edge for the map sensor which are green, red,and white. I know how to ta…

After getting the valve cover off and pulled the 8mm bolts holding injectors those bolts were loose. Then took a lot of force to pull number one out. The injector was carboned in place. No copper washer. I've got a fight with 5 and 6 yet to pull out of the head. The truck came in with a complaint of pressure in the fuel tank and spitting fuel out the filler neck. Mark just found the copper washer buried in the carbon build up. Managed dig out.

Holy Crap! Scared the **** outta me! Not just once but several times... when you're not expecting it. Yeah, our camping trip week. I left wife setting up the tents! I had a big dose of yellow pine pollen & seasonal allergy response... an immune response. Multiple Sclerosis is an auto-immune disease. So my symptoms are increased right now. I'm not well enough to camp. I was planning to commute to camp... day tripping for me... towing my landscape trailer each day with my big scooter on it... so I can really get around camp... especially hauling a cannon... To salvage the vaca, I am borrowing the inlaws F word Explorer. I will need the truck to …

Turned …

Hauled some cattle home yesterday with the new flatbed. Had to shorten up the gooseneck post on the trailer. The ball is sitting about 4-5 inches taller than the original one. I sure don't miss the rattling of a self-destructing box! Anyhow, I'm going 'full out' on this, (installing a new brake controller too) This truck came with a controller, which for the life of me, couldn't make it work. Sooo, out it came. (8 years ago) I have an eye on a couple models to install. So, when I wired up the flatbed and trailer harness, I went ahead and hooked up the light blue wire for the brake actuator circuit. Back half of truck is now done. Where do I look for the fro…

Anybody else run one of these? So, my two piece driveshaft has been squeaking a lot lately and after pricing out all the bushing, U joints, and then considering that I don't have access to a press, I decided to go one piece. The end cost was about 400 additional for the one piece, and it came with U joints. neato. I haven't driven it yet, but it looks nice. I know I probably could have done it cheaper, but oh well. Hopefully it runs smoothly. On a related note, finding the correct 241DHD tailshaft seal was a major difficulty. RockAuto sent me the wrong part. Autozone drove me all across the city (1 hr of driving to store to store) chasing the wrong part…

That's what this truck has needed since I bought it, at least it seems that way. I have 118K on the rig and Last week, I checked out the vibration when slowing and found a seized lobe on the rear pinion u-joint (Napa 330 for 3 joint shaft). Only cost 20 bucks and about an hours time though. Today, come out of work to a puddle of PS fluid from a 8 month old box leaking out of the pinion seal- I've been running a box/steering brace for 4 of those months. Speakers quit the week before that, oh and the parking brake tension cam froze up on the drivers side last weekend and it wouldn't release. Windshield got smacked by a rock a few weeks before that (can't help that though…

Recently been doing a lot of work to my truck... Most recent, new 62/65 turbo to match my injectors, doing really well. However when the engine is hotter. I have a boost leak that's not there when cold. Found a pinhole leak in 2/4 of the intercooler boots. Rubber heats up and lets more air through that hole I guess. Anyway tried epoxy on them, temporary fix, then found new hole. So I'm looking at new boots and see that there are a lot of options. VPMAX - 219 for the boot kit silicone Mishimoto - 264.95 for the boot kit (looks rubber?) crazy carl has a whole boot and pipe kit for 265 which I was considering since plastic pipes seem like they will…

I am plan to towing enclosed trailer 7x12 with two Harley road king classic and some of stuffs. It maybe about 5k lbs +\-. I am not understand that sixth gear are not for towing purpose? Also I has seen websites that sell fast cooler kit or other brands that make more quarts in nv5600? Should I get it or stay as stock since I only towing a 5k trailer with 2 harley. I did use towing something else but not as heavy like two Harley. I had fifth wheel setup (it was on before i bought it) but I don't own a fifth wheel trailer. I am plan to add one more quart in my nv5600 but before I do, I would like to see what is opinions about it? My dodge cummins was former heavy towing t…

Hi all, So I'm getting ready to do an oil change and I realized that I'm paying almost as much for Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w-40, which is full synthetic(not sure if it's group 3 or 4 though) as I would be for some of the Amsoil products which I know are group 4 base stocks. So I'm looking into switching to Amsoil. I'd like opinions on which version to use and if I should get a bypass filtration kit while I'm at it. I know they have several different diesel oils and I don't know which one I should use. I originally went with the Valvoline PBX because I wanted the 5w-40 and full synth for the cold temps up here. I can definitely hear when the oil gets to the mo…
