Having a strange issue that I'm trying to figure out and hoping one of you guys can help out? Just joined here but been a member of the other place for years. Anyway I've got the 2001 mentioned in my signature and I'm getting ready to take a 1200 mile trip on Friday, but having an issue with my truck that just started last week? Basically I randomly experience a total power loss, but the engine doesn't die. More like total loss off fuel or throttle control. Fuel PSI has never been an issue and is the real reason I bought the iQuad. Pump is tapped but rarely use it as I'm really just trying to run stock. I've been running with "0" level for the past few months and t…

I've been reading all about 2 cycle oil and now I'm wondering if anybody has experience with or can you tell me anything about how Powerup Gen49 fuel additive measures up. http://www.powerupusa.net It's supposed to be the real deal and I have a neighbor who sells it so it's real handy for me to get.

I'm thinking my heater block for intake is not working. Do you get any codes if this is the case. It usually came on in the morning in the past for maybe a few seconds in weather in the low 50's. It starts, but kinda sputters a little. Hoping to hear a little about what you think. Before it gets too cold.i found the article on grid heaters. Sounds like the temps lately have been on the bubble for grid heaters to come on. I'll wait for cooler weather for final diagnosis. But it's on my radar screen.

This may be a little off the wall but you don't know til ya ask. I have a filter head from a log splitter, would I be able to utilize this as a pre lift pump filter if I can locate a filter of suitable micron rating? Has anyone tried this? What were your results? I'm just curious at this point. I would like to revamp my fuel system over the summer and add gauges as well so kinda planning things in my head since I'm sitting home bored. Lol. Thanks for any input.

Hey I've got a question about prefilling filters whether they be fuel or oil. What about the unfiltered oil/fuel that enters the engine? Any concern here? Not sure if this is the proper thread for this question:shrug:

I let my fuel tank get below 1/4 and the "near empty" idiot light came on. Normally when I turn the key to ON, the fuel pump runs for a few seconds and gets the fuel pressure up to about 10psi. The next time I started it, the fuel pump didn't do ite pre-start run. The engine started normally and had normal fuel pressure. I filled the tank, the idiot light went OFF but the fuel pump still didn't do its pre-start run. A few starts later, and everything was back to normal. Is this a feature or a failure?

When you fellows replace u-joints, do you have a preferred brand and series? And most importantly, on the front axles do you use greasable joints? I believe the Spicer SPL55-4X has the zerk, but how hard would access be? For my rear driveshaft am leaning toward Spicer 5-1410-1X, the greasable model. Do you all change the center bearing at the same time? Mine seems to be in good shape. All [good] advice would be appreciated!

I've been around the forums with this truck for years. I'm a DIY gal with minimal mechanical knowledge, enough to be dangerous, enough to get in trouble. We've been plagued by some gremlins for many years and recently we purchased a friend's very well maintained 3rd gen with 77,000 miles and no known gremlins (yet). I loved our 2nd gen, been a great truck that has seen better days cosmetically, and I think it will make a nice pickup for someone who likes really loud trucks and doesn't mind doing some work to bring her back to her glory days cosmetically. However, I feel to sell her as is would be a big financial hit because of the following issues. …

I believe this is related to my low power and P0237 issues but last evening I went and picked up a new boat 20 miles away. Idk when it started but i started hearing a lot of what sounds like valve chatter. Something tells me it has nothing to do with the valves but that it’s related to a timing issue. I’m also having rough idle symptoms again although a bit different from when I had air in fuel. What I’m thinking is since I have turbo play and all that i may have low boost which flipped the code and is causing low power. I also read somewhere here that low boost will create more timing and make a knocking noise and higher boost will retard timing. This boat I…

(Sorry for all the "basic 101 questions" from a "new" member. My fuel system fell apart when out of town, after 10 years of service, the FASS feel apart. And out of town mechanic did a very poor job of putting on the Air Dog 100. Old mechanic feels betrayed I think. He did all my work and very good by the way. Since 2005. But now is punishing me I think. Wants 4 hours at $120 and hour to look over work done by out of town mechanic. 4 hours I think I could put on an AIr Dog myself by just watching videos. So I'm on the "fast track" to learn about these things fabulous 5.9's myself. Thanks)... Going to start with installing a Fuel Pressure gauge. In…

Has anyone ever ran Prist for a antigel??? My truck gelled up over the last blizzard that we had here in souteast kansas and after 24 hours of letting it sit with some 911 in the tank it finally started. Just wondering if there is a better antigel out there or maybe even a fuel tank heater.

I got one of Winslow's high idle boxes and the truck is awefull picky of when it will let it work. I tested the box with an ohm meter as per Winslow's instructions and it works correctly so I have ruled that out. Soemtimes the truck will start to idle up and then get to about 1000 rpm and just drop back off to 800 or so. Other times it will not idle up at all, even when its in the teens outside it should idle up on its own. The otherday I put the transmission in neutral it it idle'd up right so I thought it was the park switch but then the next day it idle'd up in park. I drove around the pasture loading up round horse panels and put it in park and hit the high idle switc…

Hello, I am writing to get help; I fitted a Cummins isb235 5.9 24 valve of 2001 on a toyota land cruiser hzj74. I connected the wires of the controller as reported on the forums; the engine light comes on and the car walking but not more than 80 km/h. the engine revs very slowly and it shows that at some point does not increase further rounds because the unit removes the current. The electrical connections are made; I have assembled only the engine; the engine have a plug with 50-pin and 2 plug harness from pin 11 and 14. I have no obd. Of the 50 pin I connected 48-50-15-35 with the positive and 30-49 negative battery; in the 11-pin plug I connected 7-1 …

2 weeks ago, had the fuel man out to fill our on-farm storage diesel with 50% #1 and #2 fuel. Thanks to a nice arctic blast, (lows about -10) most of my tractors are 'dead'. geez, another batch of crap came up the pipeline, ALL my neighbors are pulling their hair out too..I have an inline screen before the lift pump, that is easily taken apart and cleaned... It's actually a sprayer suction screen and has about a pint of capacity. It was totally full of slush, I cleaned it out and put in a jug of '911' I hate using it, but hungry cows take precedence!! Today, fuel …

History of the truck. Truck was purchased in 2002 with 43K miles. Engine and transmission were stock except for a K&N drop in air filter. Early 2003 installed a PowerMax programmer from TST which displays boost, transmission temp, and EGT. Late 2003 installed a PacBrake, TripleLoc (three clutch disk) torque converter, and HP valve body from TST. 2007 spring had check engine light and intermittent hard starting local diesel shop diagnosed it as a fault between primary and secondary computer and cleared the code (don’t know what the code was). They checked my fuel pressure which was around 10 at idle and much less under static 2400 rpm thro…
