  1. No, I don't have a write up for this but I will post the PDF document for the service manual. http://www.myholsetturbo.com/manuals/HX30_32_35_38_40_GW.pdf I'll admit it's fairly easy to do. You will need a very good pair of snap ring pliers. Everything else is a standard tools wrench and such. I did run into a snag and created a bind in the shaft. Make sure to put your thrust washer back in. Once I grab the manual and seen the exploded view of the turbo I knew right away what I missed. Sure enough dug into the ashtray I put all the old parts into and there it was. Slipped it on the shaft and it spins good. The 2 end are 12 points the turbine is 19mm 12 p…

  4. I already did the track bar about a year and half ago, but it's time--- Probably way beyond time, for ball joints, tie rods. I got almost 1/2 inch slop up and down in the outer tierods. yep.. I get the goody out of stuff.. So, looking at components from moog. outer tie rods (2) the inner tie rod to pitman, and the connecting bar from that TR to the main drag link. Might as well throw in new connector sleeves too. Then might as well do the ball joints too, Moog again. I'm only going with the standard non offset type. anyone know why they offer 'adjustable' camber +/- 1 1/2 degree? ...the offset do have an advantage I suppose, the uppers are greasable, whereas the …

Just put in a rebuilt NV4500 with a 1.375" input shaft, and fully splined output shaft. The guy who rebuilt it told me to use 50w full synthetic which I did, 1 gallon of Lucas 50w full synthetic was used. Drove it around town around 150 miles breaking in the new clutch, no issues, drove it this morning from Clovis NM to Lubbock Texas, it's a straight shot but some of the town the road runs through slows down to 30mph, no issues down shifting. There are also a few lights on this road that I had to stop at from 75, again no issues. Driving back to Clovis about an hour into the drive I went to pull off to a gas station and get a drink and it did not want to come …

  6. Ok guys as y'all know I'm looking to ditch my nv 5600 and go to a nv4500 I've been looking for a build able 4500 but ain't had no luck yet, so I if I was to have to buy a re man where the best place, of course cpp is a deff no, ats I will never be able to afford, and I'm reading lots of bad reviews on all state gear, standard trans Blumenthal, Midwest trans and just about every one of them

  7. Is there a fuse I can remove to keep from starting...or something else I can do to turn over the engine to circulate some oil prior to starting? Or maybe I don't need to do anything? Currently 1/2 tank of fuel, my game plan from VP44 back to fuel tank is to drain and flush, new filters and biocide I assume pretty dry inside engine is reason for asking. (Between Thanksgiving and Christmas have lots planned...additional fuel filter, flush cooling system, WT Mod, and updated radio) Thanks

Another thermo question... Just flushed the cooling system today as truck takes a while to warm up, used Cat cooling system flushing liquid but I doubt I'd got enough to do the job properly so I'll have to get more and do it again but it has softened deposits I can see in the rad, backflushed heater core and engine/rad with water after draining the cleaner, took a look at the thermostat which was closed (cold engine) BUT tried to remove it and decided the only way it's coming out is scrap so I left it where it was for now so I can't tell what opening temp is fitted so whats the best to use ? truck is 98.5 2500 4x4 short quad. I think looking at the colour of the cool…

I was reading the sign on our red dye fuel pump in town. It says : Warning this is off road diesel ( like I knew that ) Warning this fuel contains in excess of 500 parts per million sulpher only to be used in engines certified to use sulphured fuel.Hmmmmmmmm!End of story

My parents are looking to replace the steering box on their 2000 Powerstroke Excursion. There's only 110K on the dang thing, but it steers worse than my truck with 205K. I know it's a Cummins Forum, but it's basically the same box and I would ask the exact same thing if I were replacing the one in my truck. So, what say you? I've read good about both, of course a couple bad about both but it looks like the blue top is cheaper than the redhead.

so i wanna turn on the cold weather high idle on my truck and have access to a drb3 with all the chrysler software. when i go to turn it on it refuses to connect with the ecm, then i read somewhere it wants you to have the latest update before it'll let you make those changes. so far the drb3 has only been used as a scantool so no one has any idea how to reflash it. from my understanding i need a memory card with the update software on it, but not sure where or how to get it. i also have numerous cds with the title ITIL/ISIS from chrysler but i think these just updates for the drb3 itself and don't contain updates for vehicle ecms. however correct me if i'm wrong, loo…

Hey, I have a question and want to make sure i am not over thinking this, I did the conversion a few weeks ago when my regulator in the ECM decided to go crazy and cook my alternator i did the conversion that in the tech article but did come changes because it tried to overcharge (bad reference voltage sampling point) with that fixed, I am now getting 14.4 with a high of 14.5 and a low of 14.3 so here is my question and concern, from what i understand, the ecm would cut the alternator when the grids would cycle. this conversion does not allow this provision. now i do have a circuit designed that will cut the alternator when the grids are energized. currently …

  15. Is there a relationship between fuel pressure and boost? My truck idles at 17psi, but will dip to 8-9 on a hard run. Is this having an effect on boost numbers? I only seem to get to 15-18 stock and even with the edge on (comp not currently tapped) pretty rare that it touches 20psi. Boost elbow or plugged manifold don,t seem to change anything.

  16. So... In the relay / bus box on the drivers side behind the battery. There are two leads, going into the box. A red one, and a black one. The red wire, goes to the drivers side battery, and the black one goes where? I can't seem to find it on any of the wiring diagrams. (if i am missing it on one of Mike's diagrams, please help) I am showing 12V on the black wire as well as the red, and before putting a DVM on it I had always assumed it was a ground. Does it go to the curbside battery? http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1689&d=1301768556

I have a rapid clicking noise that sounds like a relay coming from behind the glove compartment. It mostly seems to happen when I’m making a right hand turn.

I installed a big line kit last night. Now i have 3/8 line from original hard fuel line to relocated lift pump (raptor frrp) then 1/2 line to original fuel filter canister, then 1/2 to ip. The pressures look better 17 idle, 15-16 cruising, 12 WOT. Truck ran good this morning for a 30 mile trip. The problem is that the idle is a little rough now. Never like it is going to shut off, more like a hiccup. Did the same thing last night after I started it. I thought maybe some air still in the fuel line???? It did not do this before the relocation install. Any ideas? 2002 ram 2500 5.9 cummins

Little background to leading up to this past week. Had the P0237 and P0112 codes with the original ECM. Replaced the MAP Sensor and IAT sensor first. Cleaned the grounds. Still had issues. Hooked it to a snap on code reader and could watch the voltage drop out to the sensors. Ordered an ECM from the number one place on the list here. Installed it. Great for 150 miles. Then got a buck and lost all throttle response. Then it came back, bucked again and then threw the P1689 code for no communication between the ECM and IP. While at the shop they went through everything using insight. Pump was dead. New pump installed. Same issue. No communication. Wiring checks out. B…
