Cummins part number for the water drain on the fuel filter housing on my '00 truck. Mine is leaking like a sieve and I've already rebuilt it twice in the last month so I'm going to give up on it and replace the whole flippin' thing!

I'm placing a filter on the frame but have two choices, one is 60 gallon per hour and other is 90 gph pre filters to remove sediment and water before entering a new Raptor 150. Being that the 60 gph filter is shorter I need to know if that is adequate on a stock truck. There is conflicting information on the 5.9's requirements all over the net. Sorry Mike, I know you said 90gph before but, I'm just hoping for any degree of clearance under there and with info on the net the way it is, well.... Update: I just ran my other truck without the 60 GPH filter it has always had, its a 12 valve, to see how much effect it has on restriction (fuel pressure). T…

Hey so the truck I have is a 1999 ram 2500 5.9l cummins. lately ive been having this problem where when I come to a stop and go to take off, the truck will stay in first gear until I get rev to 2500+rpm and it will shift by itself or I can keep feathering the pedal to try and shift it. recently replaced gov pressure solenoid, speed sensor, apps sensor, I checked TV cable there is no slack in it. Ive noticed if I shut the truck off and start it back up and drive the first few stops the truck shifts perfectly fine through the gears but once I come to a few stops and try taking off it will start to stick in gears more often. Also no codes are present, any Idea of what else I…

Only knew because it would flash for a second warning that I was going 100+ mph while clearly not. Now since yesterday it has been pretty bad doing it regularly and even cutting fuel saying I was going 150+ mph while cruising at 60. I have the p1693 code which I need to get looked further into with a reader. Since the weather has warmed up the truck has had a bit of a miss w…

My wastegate is apparently stuck shut. For a long time I was trowing overboost codes and defeuling. Then I out a XZT on it and no longer worried about it. The boost fooler in the XZT made the sticking wastegate work to my advantage. Well now it appears that the wastegate is not doing anything anymore and I have bounced of of 30 lbs. of boost a couple of times. I don't know how far the fooler goes or if it totally cuts out the defuel and codes. I do not want to be blowing the head gaskets out.Rick

My charging guage is indicating that it's not charging correctly (leaning left). I messed with some wiring to the alternator yesterday and today it worked fine coming to work. Just took a short drive and it's leaning toward the left again. I'll take a closer look at the wires/plug again but my question is what other components are involved in the charging system on these trucks? The batteries are new and I had the alternator checked in November (two days before my wreck) and it checked good then.

Looking for the best way to re plumb between the fuel filter and the injection pump. I need to include a connection for the fuel pressure gauge and a way to bleed off air from the system following filter change. I like the needle valve concept as a way to shut down the cross connection and act as a snubber. Want to eliminate the banjo bolts. Someone must have pictures. Also sources for the parts would be appreciated.

So a while back my truck started having a Miss while running down the road, it seems like it was worse when you would pull a load to begin with. After a while this mess began to be more of a nuisance and would show up sometimes only when you're giving it throttle and sometimes only when you're getting off the fuel. This issue has been going on for about 4 months and seemingly to get progressively worse and has gotten out to the point to where I can't drive the truck. I've cleaned the batteries make sure I have good connections at 12 volts in each battery and the truck will start fine and run for about 3 minutes and start stumbling and eventually stalling I've eliminated t…

hi everyone thanks for taking some time to read this.. I was driving home today on the freeway thinking how nice my truck was running. I got into town left the shop light and the truck stayed in first gear. I let off the throttle and it shifted into second. It held second gear until I let off again. I have a converter lockup switch and the shift relay pulled and jumped. It's been this way for years. Now this happened... Another note I have 2 old optima batteries that are having a hard time starting the truck when it's cold in the morning. I'm open to hear theories ideas ect. Thanks again

I have the preface this post with: great community here with an insane wealth of knowledge and skill. This forum has been a time and money saver numerous times. All contributors are much appreciated. I encountered an interesting problem on the way home from work today. I had very little “guts” at highway speeds. I normally set cruise control around 70 and have plenty of power to accelerate up to 80+ without hesitation. Today I basically had to floor it and it felt like someone sapped the power right out of her. When I got home I poked around the engine bay a bit. Made sure I had good vacuum connections. Nothing out of the ordinary. I took her…

I'm asked frequently why I consistently "tinker" with my truck even though it's running good, no maintenance issues to address usually, just want to flip the hood and stare in amazement sometimes. But, this time I spotted something while I was installing a BHAF this morning. The lower exhaust manifold bolt on the rear cylinder was backing out! I grabbed the tools and tightened her up and checked the rest. The upper bolt on the rear cylinder was about half a turn loose as well. All the others were fine. Glad I caught that!
