Well again I lost my starter fuse at the worst time. Grrr! Ok don't panic we know the drill. I created a temp fuse from a aluminum twist tie. Got it start hitched up the RV and kept it running. On my way home I made a call to Lindy and let him know I'm going to pick up a starter. So on my way into McCall I picked up a starter and a fuse. So I kept it running and towed the RV home and unhitched. Still kept it running then bolted for Lindy's shop. So I grabbed the bay and proceeded to pull it out till I was getting burnt on the last bolt. Time to let it cool off. Long story short I got the starter out and the solenoid cover lost its 3 screw and the plunger was hanging out. …

My buddy replaced his mount and told me it stiffened up the truck a bit. He thought if might even took away some shudder in lockup. I picked up a new one and put it in tonight. The old one was nasty. Definitely has fixed my shudder.

I have either a throwout bearing or something in bellhousing that is making noise untill you push clutch in or you take off driving. Also it seems now that its getting warmer outside you have to push the pedal all the way down to the floor to get the truck to shift properly. I have 155k miles and have only owned it for 5k miles of it. 1999 155k miles 5 speed. My question for you all is on the purchase of new clutch, I can go to Oreillys and get new one for $350 my price or spend a fortune on other brands??? I plan on doing airdog, big line kit eventually replacing my injection pump that is on way out, BHAF mod, and maybe a 65hp programmer in future. I don't race my truck …

My truck is now on its 3rd alternator since getting the truck last September. Previous owner a friend of mine put one in and it died on me about 3 months in and was under warranty. Second one lasted until yesterday morning was about 50-60 degrees out started the truck the check gauges light stayed on for 20 seconds or so then came up to 14v drove 20 seconds up the street and it dropped back down so I pulled over and the alternator was smoking hot and litterally smoking. Never came back up to 14v still spins freely. Ended up getting another on under warranty at orileys. I think they are the ultima brand i can find out though. What gives though? Truck was fine yesterday and…

I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 and this thing has got a few issues. My lights are flickering at idle and the truck is running rough. Also my gauges the volts and temp gauge will go to zero then come back either by shutting the truck off or just driving it and coming back up mysteriously?? I have done the external voltage regulator swap and it help for a couple days, but then starting acting up. I know its not a ground issue because I have checked and rechecked them. The batteries are brand new as well a the alternator and they were both checked again to be sure. What do you guys think? Maybe the PCM crapping out? The only codes on the truck that I had was PCU 1594/1693 and ECU …

Well gang... My Kenwood MP3 player is actiung up and giving me fits. It was good ol' Mom that got me thinking... Well I grabed a old CD and flipped it up-side down and got a good grab on it and notice that when the disc was inserted you could feel it grab a bit strong on the label face. Hmmm... It also scratch the label face pretty bad... (Dirty) But I never let it go in... So this evening I start thinking and grab the scratched CD now and rapped a old tee shirt over it and dampen it with alcohol and inserted this shirt cover disc part way. The alcohol acts like a mold lubricant and allowed the roller to spin and against the tee shirt covered disc and clean the rollers.…

02 3500 5.9 ho Quad cab 6 speed 227k Ok, a couple of times recently I noticed a slight hesitation while attempting to accelerate. Happens when rpms are just above idle while I'm trying to accelerate from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. Feels kind of like a dead pedal but not completely. Points to ponder: - Issue seems to happen only if the truck is cold and I don't give it a chance to properly warm up - Seems fine once truck is warm. - it's not mis-firing or sputtering, more like the pedal is momentarily not completely responding. - I am NOT getting any cel or codes associated with this. - 2 weeks ago installed the timbo a…

Hi, My 2500 has started hesitating when pulling a load or a hill when I ask for more power. If I back off it quits. It did it really badly yesterday morning when I was pulling a trailer but on the way home it was great until I started up a very steep hill. Today it was fine until again I started up the steep hill. I live at the top of a mtn and the road is very steep and about 1.7 miles long. I did put some fuel treatment in it and the fuel filter was changed about 10k ago. Any suggestions? TIA!

Hello all, first post. Read allot of helpful info on here in the past. My truck is an 2000 2500. It was an auto truck and I swapped a 5 speed into it about a month ago. Been doing great, this Friday I installed a FASS DRP and a big line kit to keep my VP44 happy. Got it all done, started the truck and checked fuel pressure at 15psi. Gave it a couple revs and it wouldn't rev over 2k, would defuel itself. That's when I seen the "NO BUS" message. Only gauge that works is the tach. Pulled codes through cluster and get 920, 921, and 999. Cluster check shows all gauges and lights are good. I have spent the day cleaning all connections, pcm, ecm, cluster, bulkhead connnectors, b…

My brother-in-law in Crescent City, CA has a 2002 4wd Cummins 2500 truck that has logged 175,000 miles. The stock automatic transmission has failed l- no second gear. I don't have any real details of the exact failure. The truck is still stock - no tuner and original injectors. The truck occasionally tows a very heavy 5th wheel (around 14,000 lbs), usually less than 200 miles round trip two or three times a year. He has no near future plans of doing anything different. Sometime down the road he may become a full-time RV-er and he will purchase a truck to match whatever he tows. I was thinking of a quality rebuild with a lower stall speed conv…

So I got a bad vibration starting around 15mph until 40mph. Shakes the drink holders, mirrors, and feels like it's under the floor board. Almost like front drivers side. I think I got a bad u joint. The one that comes from the transfer case to the front end. (No idea how to get that off). I can push that drive shaft up a little bit and it clunks. Also my carrier bearing has some play in it. Idk how much is ok or if it needs to be tight. Any help or ideas is much appreciated!

Hi all, so im not sure but I may have a new problem creeping up on me. Last few days I've been enjoying having no major truck problems and running with the smarty on 5 and timing advanced to have a little fun. I like to get on it a little in 3rd and 4th when accelerating and watch the smoke a little bit. Anyway, today it seems like as the smoke clears up it gets a little gray/whiteish. Now I should point out that it is wet out today so it could be just spray. But if it's not road spray, what could cause this?

I could use some schooling of what you think would be the best way for someone that knows very little about our electronics work on our trucks. I've have read somewhat...between the net and dodge manuals so I do have a general understanding. I do use a code reader to track down problems. But many postings goes over my head quickly. Anybody care to share how you learned about how these electronic machines on wheels work? (Telling my age) I'm willing to trade...if you need to set your points or cam angle or find which coil over plug is bad...i can help.??? Any help appreciated to material that would get me up to speed for our 2nd gens. …

02 3500 2wd 6speed quad cab. 225k, Recently noticed noticed the vacuum sensor on the airbox tripped. Upon inspection found that the air filter was full of rodent nest and the filter was partially sucked into the intake tube. Good bet some debris got sucked into my turbo and the turbo intake housing is dirty/grimy. Lucky I don't see any damage on the compressor blades and it spins freely thankfully. So ripped out the factory airbox and put in a RBHAF. Went with the baldwin 2820 since it seems a bit better constructed with an internal wire cage. Loving the sound. I can clearly hear the turbo spool up now. Wondering if this will improve my fuel mil…

1. When does the stock programming start to de-fuel at what rpm and/or what boost level? 2. Sorta goes with question one in a sense, but if I am to wind out the gears in my truck (NV5600) to get up to speed, what is the best rpm to shift at and/or not go over when going WOT?
