  1. Sorry guys, I know it's been like a broken record, but now that some time gone by has anybody got comments on using newer stuff with less zinc and phosphor on older engines. I've been running amsoil (1400 ppm zink) for few years now and don't have any problems with it other than price and the way you got to get it if you want a half a.. deal on it. Plus I don't put enough miles on it a year to justify it anymore. Called Cummins and they use Valvoline Premium Blue in just about anything and it replaces all of the older stuff. Guy said it had 1200 ppm of zinc in it and was plenty for flat tappets, price at cummins was $14.50 a gallon. Then I called Delo and talked with thei…

Alright guys I am experiencing a miss at all RPMs. It is pretty noticeable near the engine with a knock, but is extremely noticeable at the exhaust. It is easy to feel that the exhaust is "puffing" per say. Now I just replaced the injectors with a new set of 125hp sacs, but the miss was prevalent before the injector swap. The swap did not make a difference. Everything sounds the exact same as before the swap. I have fuel squirting out of each connection at the cross over tubes while running. MoparMan and I spoke on the phone earlier and have decided to take a systematic approach to resolving this issue. Ruled out: 1. Injection pump: Always supplied good pressure, less t…

How long should it take to change a tappet cover gasket? Cummins says that is where my oil leak is at.

My truck has the stock crankcase breather bottle. It is making quite the mess and getting oil all over the underside. Got a few questions however as when I am sitting on level ground at a stoplight I see smoke coming from both sides of my truck. I can take my oil fill cap off and smoke comes out of that hole and I see smoke coming from my crankcase breather when I shut my truck off. It appears to be smoke coming from my crankcase breather but I wanted to make sure I possibly don’t have a bigger issue since I am getting smoke coming out of the valve cover oil fill hole. I don’t recall this issue previouslay but have noticed a stronger smell of oil as of lately as well. I d…

  5. http://www.quad4x4.com/syntorqlt.html So since I know I got to put some sort of lubricant back into the transmission and NV4500 fluid by Castrol is no longer produced. So I called the shop that is rebuilding my transmission. He suggested 50 weight synthetic transmission fluid in a GL-4 rating. So I started digging around. I can buy a 5 gallon bucket locally for 50WT Synthetic GL-4 Transmission Fluid. Then did some digging on the Internet because I want to find out if any others where using the 50 WT transmission fluid. Guess what... Another rebuilder suggesting the 50 WT transmission fluid. http://nv4500transmission.com/nv4500-tran…

I finally got started on this in earnest today. Did a little on it Monday pm. Then today after the morning mist died away and I got the doctors appointment out of the way the fun began. Itwent pretty well. Not one ceased bolt. They all came out nicely. Made this far today. My helper. The offending leak. The oil is from some bad pouring out of the gallon jug. Now a couple questions. Those metal strips between the pairs bolts at the front and rear of the exhaust manifold, are they necessary to reinstall? I thought they were under the bolt heads until I destroyed them all and realized they were over the bolts. They appear to keep…

  7. This is a writeup I did on another forum last year. I've pretty much abandoned other diesel forums so I thought I would post it here. A few weeks ago my truck suddenly decided to stop shifting and got stuck in 3rd gear (limp mode). It wouldn't up-shift or down-shift. I was able to manually down shift to second but it wont shift automatically and it couldn't be manually shifted to first. I checked for codes and got a P0753 which according to the manual is: Trans 3-4 Shift Sol/Trans Relay Circuits - An open or shorted condition detected in the overdrive solenoid control circuit or Trans Relay Circuit. I started threads on two forums asking for help …

@Mopar1973Man please put this up top for me. If you think it should be somewhere else, go ahead and move it. My truck was stolen last night in lakewood. I'm sure most of you know what it looks like, but here's a couple pictures. One of the passenger windows was busted out to gain access, but I have no idea how they got it running. Thank you

  9. I just bought my truck a few months ago, this is my first diesel and I am very happy with it. I've been looking into getting the high idle and 3 cylinder high idle enabled on it and getting the fooler as I am tired of waiting for it to warm up. My concern is does the 3 cylinder high idle wear 3 cylinders more than the other 3? Does the firing order alternate when in 3 cylinder high idle? I just don't want to tear the engine up. I would think that if Cummins included this in the software that it would be ok to use, after all they are the experts.

So I'm just double checking since I've read different things. What fluid do I put in my Nv5600 that calls for the Texaco stf 1864 that is not made any more?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm in search of a Wiring Diagram for a 2001 Dodge Cummings Ram. My current issue is that there is no power to both fuel pumps and the relay keeps clicking on and off. I can't find the power source, and I haven't found a bad fuse. Thank you, Tommy

Here I'm going to try to go through everything I did to put an he351cw off of a 2005 CR Cummins onto my 2002 24valve Cummins. There may be some redundant pictures in here, so bear with me! I started by buying the parts I knew I would need. 2 turbo mounting studs from Cummins (I bought the stock length for an 05) These screwed into the bottom of the manifold. The other two were plenty long. 2 longer oil return tube mounting bolts 2 90degree exhaust elbows from Litz Auto (I think they measured 3x3 in length) 1 HE351cw wastegate plug from DAP.http://www.dieselautopower.com/product-p/he351%20solenoid%20cap%20tapped.htm T3 turbo manifold gasket. http://www.dieselauto…

Let me approach this subject a different way. I am looking for a different turbo for one of my 01 3500's and would like to know if there is any math or formula to help you make this choice? I know you have to try to match the air to fuel ratio, but thats it. I have BD's 110 injectors in this particular 3500 with a stock turbo and she always has a 16' company trailer attached to it with aluminum extrusion and ladders on it. I am just wanting a little more lower and a little lower EGT's without changing injectors of course. My other mods on the truck are basically the same for this one that is in my Sig below. If you need ,more info let me know and I will gladly…

  15. Blue Chip Special X VP44 advanced timing I am not sure what to do. Several months ago I bought a set of Dynomite Diesel 75 hp injectors through Parleys Diesel. Not supposed to smoke on a stock Cummins but when the injectors were installed, the black smoke was worse that any rolling coal on Youtube. I called Parleys Diesel explaining the circumstances and results of the injector install. Parleys had me call Dynomite Diesel. Both vendors were doing all they could to solve the problem. I explained prior that I was using a Blue Chip Special X VP44 with advanced timing built in. Brian at Dynomite Diesel runs the Warranty and Testing Department, excellent individual to deal…

Ok first time posting on a forum so if I put this in the wrong category..beat me accordingly. Btw, this site has been Awesome in helping me sort out updates & upgrades for my 99 so Big Thank you to all that contribute. 4th gen 2500 OEM 18" wheels fit a 2nd gen 2500? From what I have read thus far, yes they will. Only 1 issue & that being the axle being out about an inch or so farther on the Gen2. 2" spacers on rear only apparently remedy that. 4th gen tires are 275/70/R18 I have 20" on mine now, but am wanting to downsize just a little. I did find a pic of someone that just recently put the very wheel combo I am wanting to buy on his 1998 with th…

If I'm Lucky enough to get a refund from taxes this year I would like to purchase either a DTT Assasin or A FASS Titanium 95 or 150. My question is must I modify the stock fuel lines or put in a sump if I go the Fass route or can I reroute the stock lines to the pump?

Hello folks. My typical 2nd gen doge tranny is nearing it's end. I'm thinking about doing an Auto to Manual swap to hopefully save on money. (Built tranny's are quite expensive) Currently, the truck sits around 500 horsepower, but will probably go up as I add a twin turbo kit and injectors in the future. Can someone share a parts list of the things I would need for the conversion from auto to manual, including the cost of the parts (Except transmission)? Also, would the ECM need to be swapped or reprogrammed? I need to know everything that has to be done for the swap before I decide to begin the project. If any of you believe I should stick to the Auto, what co…
