I have read that it is very easy to replace the rotors on our trucks. The rotor is suppose to just slide on. Mine doesn't, it is held on by the nut and the stud assembly. Any one have any idea as to what the set up is for my rig? Is this from a 1 ton?

So after reading more about high idle, and 3 cylinder high idle, I kinda got to thinking about what is best for the 53 block.I always let it warm up to operating temp before driving, and if I have to just cruise around the pasture, I'll let it run for a minute, and then I'll start to drive. (1st and 2nd gear, not getting above 1,300-1,400 RPM) If I'm in a hurry, I'll let the temp get to 140*, and then go easy on it.Here in SE Texas, I'll probably never start the truck below 20*F, so what is the best warm up procedure in those temps? Is a rapid warm up better for a 53 block? I know if it idles too long without the coolant temp rising, there can be some damage, but I don't …

  6. Was doing some research yesterday evening as I try to do on these trucks and realized that I put my EGT probe in the wrong spot. I installed it post turbo and from what I read last night they need to pre turbo to get an accurate reading. I researched this before I order my gauges as I've done before and I have no idea how I missed it. I know some can go post turbo but I want an accurate reading. I don't think I have gotten to hot seeing as how I only touch 1000* once before (hadn't towed heavy with it yet and I don't have a programmer.) I read somewhere that running it post turbo you lose about 300* on your gauge. If that's true I prolly wont be in a rush to change …

Your going to think I am crazy, but what would make your fuel pressure go up when you hit your brakes. Pressure runs steady 17psi hit the brakes and it goes up to 18.50 almost 19.:shrug:It has done this since I replaced my airdog 100 with the 150.

  10. My cruise started acting up a while ago. I would set it but it seemed like it wasn't working but if I hit accel a bunch of times it would start to hold. After a while it didn't work at all and when I had time to look at it I found a broken vac line. I fixed that and now I set it and it just pulls it to WOT Any ideas for me? And could someone explain how the thing works?

Alright, so ran up into the forest yesterday for an evening trip. Out and about traversing the mountain roads, no problem. Got dark so headed down. Got to the highway and the truck did something funny..I got to about 45-50 and it sounded like it was making a quick and short rev. As if I was the one doing it with the pedal. I slowed down, turned the comp off, checked the trans. temp gauge. All was well. Sped back up, got to the speed again and did it again. This time I fueled it more and it went faster and shifted after that.Stopped by the sister in laws, which was about 10 min. away. Visited for about an hour or so and then headed home. Shifted fine and turned the comp ba…

  14. I noticed working on my 2001 tonight, I just bought, had the front gear cover pulled. What would be some reasons to have to do that? Truck had 190,000 on it when I bought it and other than a KDP tab, which I doubt on an 01 or they dropped the keyway down the gear case when they changed the VP44, I don't know any other reasons on a truck that is low miles in my estimation. Thanks to you all.

Okay, so I got geared up with some extra tools to do my injectors. Got an evercraft crofoot set from napa for $11! They looks like some good tools. Then I got myself a 1/2" to 3/8"s adapter for my torque wrench. I did get an inch pound torque wrench, but it was useless to have. It went from 120in/lbs to 960in/lbs. My 1/2" goes from 10ft/lbs to 150ft/lbs. Since the crossover tubes and lines hooking to it are 28ft/lbs, can I get away with doing 10ft/lbs on the injector clamp bolt? Or maybe just set it at 10ft/lbs and then stop a little before it clicks? Now, I still need to get o-rings for the crossover tubes, but I was wondering what you guys suggest. I know I ha…

My wheel bearings are shot and I'm having trouble finding the right ones. My truck is a 99 and has front ABS, is this unusual? Th person at hub and bearing warehouse didn't know that 99's came with front ABS. Would bearings for a 2000 work?

  19. To remove wheel bearings you must first get to them.I left one tire on the ground the other i used a jack stand to get it off the ground. The rotor can be a major pain.I use a air hammer with a dime size bit and hammer around the lugs. Some times this works. If the rotors are trashed just beat them. You will crack them but if there trashed and you are going to replace them then it is no biggie. You need to remove the brake caliper and the bracket that holds it.Be careful not to bend the dust cover it is sandwitched between the wb and the housing.Use a bungie or a coat hanger to hold up the caliper out of the way. The axle nut should stay on.Remove the 4 bolts 1/2 way out tha…
