Hey guys, After a long saga of chasing my tail, I figured out that my alternator was shot. I had previously measured it with cheapy multimeter and it was holding a .02vac so I sort of put it at the back of my mind and kept on going. Anyway, I realized that my power probe had a true rms setting and remeasured and saw some pretty bad numbers. I picked up a 02 Durango 160 amp hairpin alternator from O'Reilly today. I had them test it before I took it and it tested at .36. They couldn't get another until next Tues so I took it. I installed it, and at idle its pretty much what it tested on the bench at the store. When the grids cycle on, Im seeing about 1.65…

Last time I replaced the fuel filter on my air dog 100 I lost alot of fuel. What do you guys do to make it easier to change the filter. Put a clamp on the hoses ?? When I'm at it I have a 17 pound spring to put in as well.Just looking for tips so I don't lose a few gallons of fuel like I did last time:banghead:

Does anybody know what the after market filter numbers are for the AD 100??

  6. Started by bh115577,

I will be installing the new AD 100 soon and was wondering what everyone else does with the stock filter housing? I thought I read that some have removed it but now I can't find the info again. I plan on running the 1/2" line right to the VP with a tee for the pressure gauge unless there is a better way to do it.

  7. I stopped in for visitation with my truck & the mechanic took me in the back & showed me the progress to date. I liked the look of the pickup tube he fabbed & installed in the tank filter basket. I left very happy. Then I was reading on CDF... and I saw a thread asking "Why the a through the basket pickup could NOT be used with a fill pipe return Y?" I hadn't thought much about it, but this is exactly as my install was shaping up. The answer sent me scurrying to the Diesel shop this morning. You can run a pickup outside the filter basket & return through the fill hose. Or You can pickup IN the filter basket & return IN the filter basket. But t…

So my pressures are 16-17 idle, 13-14 wot, works great while im on the road but when the truck sits it loses all fuel pressure.every time i before i start it, the fp gauge usually reads 0, 1, or 2 but it starts fine and the fp jumps right back up. bumping the key will get 17 psi for those 25 seconds, then it'll drop back to 0. should i be checking something out or am i worrying over nothin

Finally giving into adding 2 stroke oil. Are there any 2 or 3 or even 5 gallon reservoir/container (with measurements) that gets mounted somewhere and if you put in 30 gallon of fuel, you can open a drain valve on reservoir and gravity feed into tank? Used to mix 2 stroke oil for outboard motors about 3 times a week. Gets messy sometimes no matter who well you plan it out.

  12. Well I found a way to adjust the fuel pressure upwards on my truck. I started out with 16-17 PSI when I first installed it nearly a year ago. But now the pressure slipped down to about 14-15 PSI. I had some time on my hands a found a way to adjust the fuel pressure. Adjusting Shim... I was digging around the shop and found a exactly prefect fitting washer that doesn't interfer with fuel flow and fits inside the pump. Its a cheap 5/16" flat washer but you going to need to match it up against the fitting to bet sure it not blocking the hole nor too large for the fitting. This is stuffed back in behind the return line fitting. Order of install... Ball, Spring, Washer, Fitt…

  13. I think I remembered about certain things you when adjusting steering play. Don't bear down hard on the adjustment screw, turn wheel back and forth making very small adjustments each time, raise the front off the ground....... That sort of thing? Thanks for any advice. BTW, My truck knows the way to these kinds of places

I'm almost done installing my adrenaline. Where is the best place to install the transmission temp. sensor. The place listed in the adrenaline install instruction, or in the pan? When my trans was done, they included a deep pan with a place for a sensor. The instructions show a different place on the pass side of the trans. My first thought says the place on the pass side would keep the wiring in a better spot. But I've alway thought the place in the pan is where most people put them. Any recommendations? This and the wire tap are all that left. Then I get to put the interior back together. Finding a "clean" place to mount the head unit on the ins…

  15. Blue Chip Special X VP44 advanced timing I am not sure what to do. Several months ago I bought a set of Dynomite Diesel 75 hp injectors through Parleys Diesel. Not supposed to smoke on a stock Cummins but when the injectors were installed, the black smoke was worse that any rolling coal on Youtube. I called Parleys Diesel explaining the circumstances and results of the injector install. Parleys had me call Dynomite Diesel. Both vendors were doing all they could to solve the problem. I explained prior that I was using a Blue Chip Special X VP44 with advanced timing built in. Brian at Dynomite Diesel runs the Warranty and Testing Department, excellent individual to deal…

Hey guys, I've looked around for a little bit on this and haven't found too much so I was curious what exactly the advantage is of switching to a draw straw. I've looked at the Vulcan products and they seem fairly priced and easy to do, just wondering if it is worth it, or what the main purpose is to make this move. Thanks! Austin

Hello All, So I am in the market for a truck. I owned a 2002 6 speed a few years ago. I'm looking to get something similar. I would like to get newer but I am limited on budget. I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on how heavy a camper a 2002 4x4 6 speed could comfortably pull. I guess I'm looking for a general rule of thumb- If I get a camper that is over 10,000#, do I need a dully? If I stay between 8 and 10,000# can I safely pull and stop without adding brake controllers and the lot. I like to keep things pretty simple, I just wanted to be educated before I begin my search for truck and camper. My goal is to have a…

All right men, I need some help here. I posted a while back about my clutch slipping and now I finally have a little money to replace it. That being said, I still don't have a huge budget to do this with. I'm trying to find a good reliable clutch that won't break the bank. I'm familiar with south bend and Valair but those are out of my league as far as affordability. If anyone can give me any info on Luk, AMS performance, Exedy, etc. that would be great. I have tried to research these brands but can't really find many reviews on any of them. Also, I don't do any really heavy towing (probably 6 or 7k occasionally). Thanks in advance for the help.

  19. I'd like to hear some thoughts on parts i'm going to be ordering soon. My exhaust manifold is cracked and my muffler has a good rattle and I'd like an exhaust brake for towing and to a lesser extent service brake life. Truck is a 1999 24v 5speed longbox. 1) I would prefer the the turbo mount exhaust brake but I may do a small turbo upgrade in the future which from my reading means I'll need to have the remote mount brake. So i'm thinking the BD remote brake. 2) I'm leaning towards this exhaust manifold. Price seems good and I've heard good things. DAP T3 with EGT probe bung and comes with gaskets and hardware. https://dieselautopower.com/diesel-au…
