I have a couple of issues with my 1999 24v that's been bugging me. 1. Lately it's been getting cold here in New Mexico and I noticed that my grid heater doesn't cycle until the engine has been started. The wait to start light never comes on anymore, not even for a split second, and my lift pump no longer does the 1-2 second prime before engine start. Is it a bad ECM? 2. My truck is a 5 speed nv4500, when I first picked it up I used to be able to take off from a dead stop in second gear just fine, plenty of torque to get it to move even starting on an incline. Now I have to start off in first gear slowly, it feels like it's hesitating/bogging down. I can't ev…

Just curious if anyone has experienced this before. I recently installed a Adrenaline with iQuad on my truck. When monitoring the boost reading from the iQuad on my phone it reads about 3psi lower than my other boost gauge. I have a 0-60 Autometer elite, its not a junk gauge and has never been over pressurized since my truck is mostly stock so I would expect it to be accurate. Could this be a conversion thing with how the Iquad produces its boost number or a sign of a failing MAP sensor? Truck runs great no weird issues I have noticed just curious since if it is low all my fueling will be thrown down 3psi levels. Thanks

I have a 2001 Ram 2500 with just a little under 320,000 miles. When I bought the pickup last year I drove it home and it started doing the rapid torque converter cycling. When I got home I cleaned all the battery terminals. No help. I zip tied the ground wire to the frame of the alternator and it cured it. Then I was getting random dead pedals for about five seconds and I finally just got around to doing the ground relocation on the drivers side of the engine. I left the charge wire to the PDC because I’m not sure how to delete that (if anyone could give me input on that too that would be great). Now that I did the ground relocation I have intermittent dead pedals and tor…

First new to site. I have another vp44 question (sorry). I replaced my vp44 back in oct 2011 and also added the raptor frrp pump and i made a big line from fuel filter to vp pump. both were purchased form thoroughbred diesel. At the time i was working out of town and wife was driving it when it did not restarting in the wendys drive through. so i had her tow it to a diesel shop to be looked at. them came back with needing a new vp44 pump. so i order the parts and installed them, got the truck running and drove it 20 miles or so. Got home it sat for 30min and went to start it and it took way longer then normal. So i thought the pump might be making to much pressure so i…

I've got a sound that started over a year ago from inside the dash.(truck was still completely stock and 115k) At first I thought it was just something in the door pocket or glove box rattling.. it also was so faint i thought I might be hearing things...and I would only hear it at around 2000 rpms if I pressed the pedal (some days I wouldnt hear it though and then it'd come back confirming I hadnt been hearing things)It eventually got louder and louder til now it actually is really annoying but still its worse sometimes and sometimes I swear its gone(i thought it was gone all winter but it came back as it started warming up out)I've checked and fixed a leak from my t…

Hello. My truck died suddenly and now it's only cranking. Got a P1688 code and looks like vp44 computer is toasted. I found a company which repairs vp44 psgs. Now I'm wondering do I have to cut the wires if I remove psg from top of the vp or can I take the solenoid apart from the distributor end? Thanks and Greetings from Finland!

Just wondering how many are using them ? I used the Fleetguard 9009 on a N-14 and got oil changes out to 40,000 miles, I have been reading about the Fleetguard 9028 that will fit the 5.9 engine ,it was designed for Komatsu or Kubota Equipt. using the 5.9 Cummins. Seems that Baldwin and Donaldson both offer them . Cummins stratapore and stacked disk media was great in my N-14 , so any thoughts ?

2002 dodge ho 6 speed stock I am on my way to montana from amarillo, texas and I am outside albuquerque. I set the cruise and am going about 70 mph down the highway. I start to notice the the truck starts to feel like it is surging. It is pretty hilly up and down and i think it is just the cruise adjusting and then all of the sudden the tranny just feels like the clutch just let go or the tranny locked up. It just starts to decelerate rapidly and just feels like the it is lurching like it does when your in 1st gear when you pull away. I push the clutch in and it just keeps jumping around. I get it pulled over on the side of the road. I get out and notice some fluid coming…

Hey guys, new here. This subject is what has got me registered here and staying here now. I looked on moparmans tech articles and saw the one about the BHAF.So I got under the hood and out of curiosity, I gave it all a looky-loo. What I found next was un-nerving. The tube to the turbo inlet was taken off and the inlet to the turbo looked exactly like the picture of the one in his article. Upon further reading, it turns out that it is because of those good ol' k&n filters. Well, it turns out I have one too!The thing is, I'm nervous about what damage it may have caused. Any debris like that is NOT good! My truck seems to run and perform just fine, but I can also be on b…

Hey guys. 2001 2500 24v 6speed manual. Always has started perfect and fast. I noticed a very loose wire on the starter yesterday (the smaller wire). I was going to pull the wire off, strip it down a little then reinstall it to get a better connection. I wasnt thinking when I first got under it with pliers to loosen the nut. I must of touched something together because I got a spark and a loud noise. Almost like it tried to turn over. Disconnected the batteries so that wouldn't happen again. Pulled the wire off, stripped it down to good wire, wound it around the grounding post and tightened a nut down on it. Reattached the batteries, tur…

Well today I had made a stop at the local fast food place for lunch...a mistake I guess. I came out and started the truck and she idled for a couple minutes..gave a shudder and shut down..no re start. Will crank but no start. I replaced the transfer pump w/fass a year ago. Acts like she's not getting fuel. What is in the tank on these? just a fuel gauge and fuel pick up? The transfer pump is running but I am wondering about the "draw straw" that I have heard about. Do they go bad, break off, What should my next step be? Thanks in advance. Randy

Ok, so long short I'm at a friend's right now so certain things are limited. What happened- hit a deer at 50 top of hill ran it over lost control hit a tree stump and broke the steering gear. Limped it back to camp caught a ride into town got parts returned and replaced gear. Bled system got it into town had it aligned, got cold hard steering at start up next day ran to store made it half way back when the truck started clunking from the power steering pump, pulled over and at idle the thing was shaking itself apart. Shut down towed back to friend's. Now we tear the thing apart and find the power steering pump failed and took out the vacuum pump the …

After coming up with different ideas on how to put this 02 motor in my new-to-me 99, I somehow stumbled into an extremely good deal on a 99 motor with 293k. Guy that still owns it (as of 7/11 I have not picked it up yet) took the head off to check the cylinders to make it his race truck, but decided to do something else. Moral of the story is it needs a new gasket and I am wondering how many times you can reuse the bolts, can I save some money and reuse them? Or is it better to just go buy some ARP or upgraded bolts. Anything helps, thanks!! TL;DR: How many times can I use the stock head bolts because I'm cheap.

Ok so my slight miss at idle when fully warm is finally getting on my nerves. From my research it is most likely the injectors. I figure after 270K they need to be at least pulled and cleaned, and while doing this I may as well upgrade a bit. I am thinking of putting in RV275s. I do have a few questions that I could use some wisdom on as I have not played with injectors before. 1. Do I need to upgrade my fuel delivery system? Now don't throw stones at me but I still have the stock setup with the original injection pump. I have replaced my LP 3 times over the years and monitor my fuel pressure post filter with a mechanical gauge in the cab. Pressure is always…

I know this conversation has been around forever, but while asking people what to tow my 5th in, I get about a 50/50 split on answers, so I am asking here.I have a 2001 Dodge Cummins, Quad Cab 4x4 with the 3.54 ratio. Only mod's to the motor are the SuperChip set to "tow-safe mode" and a K&N air filter. My 5th weights about #9500 and I dont tow my 5th under 55mph with OD. My problem comes in when I hit the interstate and run 65mph. My motor will scream if I leave it in Drive. What is the correct towing procedure??????

Just finished an 8 hour drive and I'm noticing my truck is lacking power at operating temperature, used to have no issues with taking off in 2nd when I had a FASS DDRP and stock injectors but now it struggles taking off in first while at operating temps. *My fuel pressure at idle used to be around 9-10 at WOT it would drop to 0. This was when I first got the truck and knew nothing about it a few years ago now I have a FASS 150 with a sump and the gauge sits at 15psi and 14psi under WOT*. But I ran it like that for a couple of months just thinking above 0 was good enough. Fast forward to knowing what I know now, I'm pretty certain that I've damaged it and now I've got a w…
