Safeway has 20% bio diesel for 50 cents a gallon cheaper than my normal station ($1.50). Is it worth running that stuff and in my truck?

The local ARCO near my work has just in the last month or so, put in a couple new pumps, one of them being a bio-diesel pump (the other is the ethanol blend). I haven't stopped for a fill up there yet, as it's about 10 cents higher than other diesel prices. I currently add in the 2 stroke oil for the extra lube, which of course increases the pump cost, probably by about nine or ten cents. Being relatively new to the diesel world, I'm unsure about whether or not to use it. I believe it's a 10% blend. Can anyone share pros and cons of using bio-diesel instead of regular diesel?

http://www.naturalnews.com/029421_biofuels_CO2.html (NaturalNews) A recent report issued by the European Union has revealed that biofuels, or fuel made from living, renewable sources, is not really all that beneficial to the environment. Rather than reduce the net carbon footprint as intended, biofuels can produce four times more carbon dioxide pollution than conventional fossil fuels do. Common biofuels like corn ethanol, which has become a popular additive in gasoline, and soy biodiesel, which is being used in commercial trucks and other diesel-fueled vehicles, are often considered to be environmentally-friendly because they are renewable. But in order to g…

I have a Question which one controls the idle ECM or VP44. And yes I am still fighting my self weather to buy a vp44 or not. Some of you know what is going on with my truck,it is such a night mare I dont even wont to go there. But anyway here goes, rpm drop hard when shifting and even harder when AC is on. It drops so hard and fast that when AC is on and you kick it in nuteral coming to stop sign it will almost die.

anyone here with any experience with black diesel fuel? Like, which filtration methods or equipment you use, and any results (good and bad)?I usually have close to 200 gallons of waste engine oil per year, and have several older tractors to burn it in..my 903 cummins powered 4X4 would be a perfect candidate... Back in it's heyday, when it was in semi tractors, Cummins actually had a feature that would draw out about a gallon of crankcase oil and inject in into the fuel tanks this was done after X number of miles There was an onboard reservoir that would automatically replace that oil with new... The operator only needed to replace filters, a…

When I first got the truck, there was a lot of black smoke coming out the tail pipe, more or less all of the time. I changed the fuel filter and most of it stopped (I don't think it had ever been changed), but perhaps that is coincidental. Now I get quite a bit of black smoke when I step on it. I also put in a fuel pressure gague and the fuel pressure is running about 12-13 at idol and can drop well below 5 when I put the hammer down. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

I recently had my 98.5 vp44 engine rebuilt due to a melted piston after the truck was stolen. Ever since the rebuild I have had a smoke issue. Under light throttle, the truck smokes black. Running empty down the freeway the truck constantly smokes black. Smoke is worse pulling a trailer. Truck starts great, idles clean. No crank pressure. Oil level does not increase or decrease. No codes showing. BUILD: -Block was sent to a machine shop, bored 0.020” and decked 0.010”. Running a thicker head gasket to maintain factory compression ratio. -D&J stage 1 head w/ orings -Hamilton 178/208 cam w/103lb valve springs. -New vp44 -7x0.010 Sac injectors -62/68/1…

So, the truck runs, but not great. I get the puff of black smoke when it first starts, but under acceleration, I start seeing big black smoke I've not seen before. the truck is stock, with the exception of an Airdog 150, and has about 340k miles. the injector are stock, and I've lost power recently. I'm not sure if the power loss is due to the injectors being worn, or the fact that my RPM will go to zero, and the pump misses, like an ECU connection issue. when the RPM gauge is working, the truck has power, when the RPM gauge goes to zero, and hard acceleration makes it almost roll coal, with no power. I'm hoping that its a bad connection at the ECU which puts t…

Hi all, so im not sure but I may have a new problem creeping up on me. Last few days I've been enjoying having no major truck problems and running with the smarty on 5 and timing advanced to have a little fun. I like to get on it a little in 3rd and 4th when accelerating and watch the smoke a little bit. Anyway, today it seems like as the smoke clears up it gets a little gray/whiteish. Now I should point out that it is wet out today so it could be just spray. But if it's not road spray, what could cause this?

Hi guys,I've just noticed this black puff when starting the truck. I have no idea how long its been doing this. I bought the truck in November 2012 with 306000 miles knowing it would have some problems. So it could have been doing this since I bought it . My question...Is this normal, or something that I should be getting concerned about? This is the only time is blows the black smoke. Never going down the road, even when I get on it really good. I'm trying to embed a video of what the truck is doing. The smoke looks white because its coming right at the camera, but it is black.

Hi, I was wondering whats the best way to bleed the power steering system I had to drain it after removing the pump to fix a leaky vacuum pump. I got the truck steering after reving the engine to about 1500 rpm's but the brake are very very soft and the abs and parking lights also came on during the process... Thanks

A few questions about bleeding air from fuel lines. After changing IP, and cracking 1,3, & 4 injector, should the fuel be dribbling out and a few air bubbles, or should it be a steady stream of fuel before tightening injectors.Another question - after tightening injectors and starting engine, should there be air in the fuel pressure gauge line

I've looked up all I could about this, but I really need some quick info. I replaced my fuel line from the filter to the VP44 with an upgraded fuel line. After the install, I tried bleeding the lines by cracking the number 1, 3, and 4 injector connections. I got fuel to the number 3 and 4 lines after a couple of bumps of the key, but number 1 won't bleed fuel no matter how many times I try. The truck won't start. Could I be doing something wrong, or is this a sign of a bad VP44? Any suggestions?
