Hello I have a 2001 that is cutting power at random. When it looses power it is off and on real quick. The rpms tps and speed stay constant. The only way I’ve got it to stop is to unplug the speed sensor on the rear end and since I’ve done that hasn’t happened since. I replaced that sensor. When it’s plugged in the problem comes back. I have a IQuad V2. On the I quad the speed is all over the place the factory speed seems to read correctly. When the truck cuts out the IQuad speed reads 140+ when in reality I’m going 30 mph according to the dash. I’ve seen it jump up to over 70 when the truck is idling in 1st gear. I’ve also completely disconnected the IQuad and the truck …

  4. Howdy! The truck: '02 2500 4x4 with the 47re transmission. Gonna do my best to bang this out in the most concise way possible. The problem: under hard acceleration from low speeds to highway speed and also cruising along above about 68 MPH I am experiencing what feels like a hard shudder or very quick cut outs. Recently preformed the grounding mod described in W-T's thread "Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock". Batteries are fairly new and terminals are clean. VP44 and lift pump both replaced at the same time a few years ago. VP44 came from Industrial Injection and I usually run 2 stroke oil in the fuel. FASS Titanium 95gph lift pump. Just chang…

  5. Anyone else experience a loosening of fuel injector lines over time? I just started to smell some diesel fuel in/around the cabin and checked the lines to the head and saw some droplets around the injectors on the intake plate. Checked the tightness of some of the injectors and some weren't snugged all the way. I can only think they've loosened up over time due to general engine vibration but surprised that they did. Is there even a reqd torque spec on these? Thought they just had to be good and snug. Thanks Mark

Hello Everyone, My truck's two piece rear driveshaft was very worn after 172,000 miles (doh), so after speaking with a couple of driveline shops I selected one to build me a one-piece aluminum to replace the two piece. The shop required u joint size confirmation so after pulling the rear u joint straps, i measured the caps/width & came up with 1410 ujoints. The shop didn't seem phased that i had 1410 u joints (said could have 1350 or 1410) but surprised since I thought all D70's were 1350. I continued my investigation and after more web research concluded I may have a D80 Hybrid (like the manual trucks) based on the diff cover bolt pattern. …

I'm not sure if I can post this here, but I really could use some help. Sadly my father passed away in November and left a little debt that I'm trying to pay off. I'm trying to sell his truck But me nor my mother have any idea what to ask for it. Nobody has seemed to be any help so I thought I would try here. I have had several people Make offers on the truck the last being $2500. It has a little over 200000 Miles, runs good. The top of the dash needs to be replaced And the paint Has areas that seem to be peeling But the inside is in good shape. It is a 3500 24 valve Turbo? My dad loved this truck and he would not be happy if I didn't get close to what it was worth. …

Hello Folk's new to the site hope i placed this in the correct spot. So I have a 2001 Dodge Cummins QCLB Dually with a 24 val HO 6spd 4x4. The truck has 180k mile's on it. When i bought the truck a few month's ago to pull trailer's with full time (around 100-150 mile's a day) for my then job but, have since changed job's and only drive the truck about 2 mile's to work. So my question is will it hurt to drive my truck such short distance's every day 6 day's a week. Will it hurt it or cause damage to any thing? During the summer i don't worry as much but we are seein' 15-20F night's here i do plug in the truck for a couple of hour's every night and allow the truck to idle f…

This is on the 24V

  11. So, I blew a wheel bearing apart driving down the road a few weeks back. I tore my front end apart because I figured why not rebuild it all now. I had a loose ball joint, needed brakes and u joints. I found my front pinion has a lot of play in it, up and down and in and out. I dropped the diff cover and the gears seem okay but the pinion just floats around. I bought a rebuilt kit (Axle shaft seals, bearings and shim kits, pinion seal), but Ive never torn into a differential this far. Seeing as my pinion is free to play move around, I'm assuming that the shims that are left are probably not gonna measure out right. Does anyone know a good starting point for shi…

  12. I have two axles that I am considering changing the internals from one to another 1. I have a Dana 70 2u (factory disc) that I picked up the other day, and it is trashed as far the internals go. 2. My good Dana 70 2u (drum) has about 300k on the clock, and its in good shape from the operational standpoint. Is the disc worth building, and having under the truck? It will take quite a bit of steaming all the metal out of the axle to get it to where it will be safe to run the axle long-term. Another thing I have considered is removing the flanges via cutting them off and putting the disc flange on the drum axle( minus the drum flange). I look forward to any…

My Son replaced the D70 in his 99 week before last with a limited slip unit he found at a local salvage.. He and his buddy were having trouble getting the Ujoint cap bolts tight so they opted to swap the yoke off his old axle:think:To make a long story short.. he now has a leaking pinion seal.Does the Dana have a crush sleeve on the pinion like a GM?? If so, any recomendations on how to torque the yoke back without changing the pinion depth??

  14. So i recently changed the fluid in my rear end (85-145 full synthetic) i checked around and was told that 4oz. of friction modifier was the proper amount to add to my rear dif. and i did so, problem is i am now getting a lot of wobble out of the rear end (this started about 3-4 days after changing fluid) and honestly feels like something is a little loose, the only other thing i could think of is the pinion bearings, and honestly they aren't that sloppy....any ideas, did i use too much modifier?all wheel lugs are torqued, tolerances were tight in the dif. when i had it apart last week (minus the slight play in the pinion but it was like that and didn't cause a wobble prio…

So how much to shorten driveshaft? I measured the distance with 70 and driveshaft pushed right up against the transfer case there was 2 5/8”. But I also took out 3 extra leaf springs (someone put them in and it rode like a tank). So now I have the 80 in. Looks like have to shorten driveshaft 1 3/4”. From what I’ve been reading people are only shorting 1 inch. Which is right? Thanks.

I have play in the dana 70 when you move the yoke back and forth. It measures about an 1/8 inch worth of movement total is that to much. What is the max for the play.It regularly has metal on the dip stick in the cover. 243k on the clock.

Hey guys, I'd like to switch the axle ratio on my 02 3500 dually Dana 80 LSD Truck came from the factory with 3.54's but the previous owner changed it to 4.10's. I'd like to go back to 3.54's for better fuel econ and prefer to tow at highway speeds in 5th gear 1:1. By chance anyone have a set of decent used 3.54's? I'll need a 3.73 and lower LSD carrier too, since the carrier break for the 3.54's is 3.73 or lower. The LSD carrier for the 4.10's wont work with the 3.54's. Hoping someone out there has swapped out 3.54's and has the gears and 3.73 carrier laying around! Once I'm all setup I'll probably be looking…

I believe my DANA 70 housing is damaged and while searching CL for a replacement I found a DANA 80 SRW from an 02. What are the downsides to swapping out? Weight and rotating mass, anything else? Should it bolt up?

I have the Haines manual and the downloaded factory service manual for this 1999 Ram 3500. The two publications contradict each other on the setting of the nut for the rear wheel bearings. the factory manual states to back off the nut 1/8 of a turn after torquing to 120-140 ft lbs and the Haines manual says to back off 1/3 of a turn. I went with the factory manual and backed off 1/8 of a turn. One hub runs warmer that the other. Any advice. Thanks
