I have all the parts and pieces to install my Raptor and 1/2" fuel line. I will post some pictures as I go along. I am using the stock fuel filter but am also installing a remote fuel filter(Carquest 86353) and water seperator(86439). I have a short box so room is limited under the truck and I am looking at installing the filters and then the fuel pump. Other than when I change filters, possible having air in the system and having to bleed it out, does anyone know of any problem with doing it this way? I can put the fuel pump first, but it will take a little more engineering. Also one advantage I can see is that the fuel will be filtered before the pump, which may h…

  2. Hi Guys, I have been learning alot about my cummins from reading these forums. This is my first post, so please forgive me if this topic has been covered. Background: I finally got my quad adrenaline board replaced and I had no boost pressure. I replaced the map harness because there were a couple butt splices in the wiring and presumed that was the problem. Once I changed the harness I have a boost reading on my control pod of 48-51 pretty consistently no matter TP, speed, ect. I did some reading on here and found out some map sensors "Fail High", which seems to correspond to my issue and also gives good reason to my poor mileage 8-10 mpg. Occasionally when I s…

I have been trying to chase down what would be causing my high egts. At first I bought into my turbo was not the right size, the tuning on quadzilla could off, and bit the bullet after all that and got rpms in the range they “should be” with no luck still. So I watched a video of MM and noticed the engine load was 17-19% while driving 65mph. My engine load at idle in neutral or park is 20-22%. In drive not moving 26%. Driving at 65mph on flat ground little to no wind 25-30% engine load=warmer egt’s. Now if I’m going slightly down hill and my engine load is 23% or lower my egts mimic the egts in the video I watched. I have a few questions. What are some possible causes of …

  6. Ok my 01 has developed a howling noise (think wind blowing). I'm 99% sure it the turbo because its from the passenger side of the truck and the noise continues for the 3-5 seconds after I kill the engine. I have read that it could be the waste gate stuck close, and I've checked the manifold bolts, some were maybe a half turn loose but still no change in the sound. I've checked the plumbing going to the intercooler and to the intake, all the clamps are tight. Unfortunatley I dont have a boost gauge so I cant tell if the psi has changed. I'm out of ideas. Not sure if its coincidence or not but the noise first appeared after my brother borrowed the truck and ran it low on oi…

this weekend i am taking my tranny out and preparing to install another one next week end. i have read several write ups here and feel confident i can do this. i know the nv5600 is quite heavy and i am prepared for that. just how heavy is the transfer case? i dont want ot get clobbered by it either.i figured while I had it out i would replace the seals since they leak slightly. does a seal removal tool make the job any easier? i have seen other ways, but if the tool is worth spending the money on i am all for it. any advice is appreciated.

Hi guys, Just picked up a Flame Red, 102K 2002 Sport, Auto, 4x4, 3:55's, Qcab, 8' bed. Truck is stock and I searched for this one to be like that on purpose. I already have done some EXTENSIVE (a year plus) reading before getting one of these trucks, and I really purchased for the MPG and pulling power for my side camper/boat repair business. It was hard to let go of the Super Duty for the sheer toughness alone but I couldn't take the 11mpg average. Anyway, I already ordered a column gauge pod and an Isspro mechanical fuel pressure gauge, a fleetguard filter to swap out the scary K&N oil filter and a new fuel filter. (I pan on adding a Edge Juice W/ Attitude…

  11. Well, finally got the truck running back normal again and was going to take it out in the countryside to some property I have with a friend about 75 miles away from everything. Got the truck loaded up and ready to go and as the fuel pressure was just a few pounds low recently thought I would adjust it up a bit and did so in the driveway before leaving. It always runs a good 16-17 psi at idle, and down to a low of 12-13 at WOT. Steady running at 14-15 psi which is fine with me. Got on the road and headed out in the boonies early this morning. About 15 miles out noticed that the fuel pressure was down again, sometimes even hitting 10 or less, which then triggere…

What do you guys think of this stuff? Those hffr tests or whatever they are kind of go over my head so I'm wondering if someone would take a look at this and tell me what you think of it. http://www.ca40g.com/home.php

Well if Cummins cant fix it it's doomed to fall of a clif. I took truck to cummins to let them try. Well if I had stock injectors he said they could search for leaks by pressure the system. And there stock injectors are about 500.00 each, thats what he said,I dont know. They did the usual routine stuff, hook up scanner and the usual stuff came up NOTHING. They seemed sure that the crossover tubes where leaking and one may have been. It runs a little diff. but miss is still there. Here is where I am at,new DDP 50 HP injectors, ECM,Apps, crossover tubes, cam sensor, VP Blue Chip, Head rebuilt, Starter, Alternator, water pump, thermostat & sensor, new airdog 150 with quic…

So as I'm chasing down this fuel leak, I was poking around under the hood just to make sure I didn't miss any obvious leaks or that nothing new happened. Well I got to looking more closely at the injector line bolts and it looks like some are threaded on more then others. Here's some pics theres not leaks or wetness anywhere and last I checked, they're pretty tight. Is this normal or should I pull them off and check for something? I don't really want to ignore this, but at the same time, I don't want create a new problem.

It is suggested to be done at 135K miles which I think is too far down the road. Mine where out of adjustment a bit at 92K miles. So this is how I did my valve adjustment on my truck. Valve adjustment is fairly simple to do and does require much for tools. You need a feeler gauge set (0.010 and 0.020), 9/16" box wrench, 10mm short socket, 15/16" socket, both 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets, Allen wrench and a mirror. The first thing you need to do is pull the valve cover off the engine. You'll need a 10mm short socket and a 3/8" ratchet. Loosen all the bolt till you can lift the bolt up. Don't bother removing the bolts from the valve cover. Once you got that the valve c…

Ok. Quadzilla is installed and now I'm chasing the problem that I think started when I had the Hamilton cam put in. The truck shudders, like it's in some kind of harmonic, when: * Towing uphill (under load - it will do it when not towing but it's barely noticeable) * 4th gear in TC lockup (I have a switch to force lockup and it makes no difference if forced into lockup) * Starts at 1800 RPM, about 21# Boost, IQuad says 18 timing If forced into third and TC lockup problem seems to go away (but RPM boosts to about 2200) I've tried increasing ans decreasing timing at the 1500 and 2000 mark. It seems less if I set the ti…

A little while ago i posted about an engine knocking/pulsating sound. I changed injectors and adjusted valves and the noise is still there. The engine is definitely more rattly since I first got the truck 6 years ago. I also got an oil test and everything came back ABOVE average. Has the same amount of blowby as it always had at operating temp. Where do I go from here after doing all of this? Is there an engine condition that wouldn't show up on an oil test? Can an injection pump thats going out cause noises? Where do I go from here? Video below to hear what you guys think. 20190713_105753.mp4

Heres a question for ya, on one if my duallies @ WOT the fuel pressure guage reads between 5-7 .At idle its @ 15. I dont think it should go that low. I have a FASS 95 electric fuel pump on it with 110 injectors. Im thinking maybe the 110 injectors are sucking so much fuel the FASS cant keep up? Any thoughts?

Is there any block or port lower than bottom radiator hose? First time I used drain plug in radiator had heck of time getting it back in. So I've been disconnecting lower hose on radiator for years. If there is block drain I'm thinking about screwing in a shut off valve. Good idea or no.
