  1. So has anyone done any serious towing with the electric fan conversion kits that are on the market? I was thinking these would probably be the way to go since the viscous fan clutches aren't all that great. Just wondering it was worth the 650$

  2. My seat belt has 3 wires going to it. What do I need to do to get the seat belt light to go out in the instrument cluster?

  3. Started by Ilikeoldfords,

Ok guys and girls, I have a good one for ya. I was driving to work this morning and When I stopped at a light, I heard "ting, tang, thud". Something fell from in the dash and hit my foot. I thought maybe the clutch pedal rod retaining clip fell down. I made it to work and looked on the floor. Its an E style clip almost the same size as a quarter!! Does anyone know where such a thing might have come from? I wiggled all the pedals back and forth and they didnt seem lose or anything. I will go out in the day light today and take another peek at it. Help!! I dont know if its safe to drive right now.

Since leveling my truck, roughly 2-1/2" - 3" raise in the front, my upper control arms hit the bracket on the axle. I haven't had it aligned yet, but do I need to upgrade to adjustable or longer control arms? I thought the oem ones were good for leveling? I've seen people get adjustable lower ones to center the axle in the wheel well better but I can't see how that would help the hitting issue.

Gotta toss out a big "Thank You!" to @dieselautopower... Headlights sold by DAP. http://dieselautopower.com/standard-to-sport-edition-headlight-conversion-9402spchl/ Very nice looking headlights. Clear lens and looks very nice on the truck and doesn't look like a euro-truck or something stolen from a UFO. I've still got to adjust the aim of the lights tonight. I guess there is something else to add to my Garage list. https://mopar1973man.com/garage/modification/267-sport-headlight-conversion/

Hi Everyone, My cab, fenders & interior are ratty & rusted. I've found a donor truck & i'm about to attempt a cab swap from an '01 1500 gasser, auto, extended cab Laramie to a '99 3500 diesel, 5speed, Reg. cab, base model. I have the shop manual in pdf for the '99 and I've done a lot of research already. I'm going to try and document the swap here if there seems to be any interest and I'm sure I'll have many questions for you guys along the way. Wish me luck ... I'll need it. Points I've thought of: cab mounts, clutch/brake pedal mount, gauge cluster, among others. Any heads up on things I might not have thought of yet would be appreciated. First Ques…

Ohh boy i started a can of worms with this title. But to me i have finally accidentally made my truck drive better to me then some newer cars feel to me. Personal opinion i guess. But non the less i think it is pretty good and i would rather drive it then the recent new cars i have drove. I can literally lay my wrist on the steering wheel and drive down the rough uneven dished roads we have around here without any problem or feel like i need to grip the steering wheel. I hope i can help someone else with what i have learned. This was done on a 94-99 truck. For 2000+ trucks instead of bushings you will probably need offset ball joints or maybe someone makes a adjustab…

I've read about the upgrade you can do with changing out the rear wheel cylinder to a chevy 1 ton. On Michael's article, it says to buy NAPA Part#37337. On the NAPA website, it says its a M10x1 for the mounting bolt size. Well I don't have a NAPA close by, so I crossed it over to Autozone and Oriellys and found the wheel cylinder there. But the Autozone and Oreilly cylinder says it has a 3/8 x 24 thread size. Has anybody done this that know exactly what mounting bolt size they are? Or can I just buy new 3/8 bolts, or will the 3/8th bolt have to much play in the mounting holes on the back plate? Thanks.

I have been trying to figure out which shock will work for my truck and am not sure what to order for the front. I have a 2" leveling kit. I see that Rock Auto has 2"lift specified with Rancho's but it notes "dual" shocks. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  14. I live in an area (deep south Texas) that's just hot and humid, ac is a must. My ac use to blow 45 degree or colder air no matter the temperature humidity outside, recently the ac performance began to degrade. As the ambient temperature increases so does the temperature of the air coming out of the ac. On a day in the 90's temperature of the air coming out of the center vent (temp readings done with max ac, fan on high, center duct) would run from 55-65 and humid air. The ac system is still all original parts from 2002, other than being recharged 2 years ago at the dodge dealer and few weeks ago. After putting gauges on here is the basic findings (center vent temp …

  15. I recently inspected my ball joints & they are toast. All the boots are torn/missing, the lowers have about 1/4" play, and the uppers aren't far behind. Not sure if they are OEM, but all the aftermarket ball joints I have seen come with a zerk fitting & these are sealed units (190K on the truck). I can't afford to pay a shop to do the job so I plan to do it myself. I have a fair ammount of experience in auto repair, replaced ball joints on smaller vehicles, and have some front end experience with this truck; had to replace the front rotors/hubs when I bought the truck - yea, those 100lb cast iron lumps! I'm pretty well tooled-up (jacks & stands, air tools, 3/…

I was just pricing up parts for my dash overhaul and there is decent price difference between Mopar and aftermarket heater core and ac evaporator $36 for spectra heater core, $135 for Mopar $49 for four seasons evaporator, $330 for Mopar Mopar or nocar? I'm having a hard time justifying the over $300 price difference just for a genuine oe part. Any input?

So it seems this is the summer where all the problems start showing, leaking p.s. pump, passenger axel seal leak, front brakes, and now tie rod ends. Not enough time in a day to adress it, but will be making time here pretty quick. So I know there is a 4th gen conversion I can do for the t style setup, but is it worth it? I still have 16s on my truck, so I'd have to grind off a knuckle or two for it to fit right? What's the price for one and who would be a reputable vendor for it? And are there any problems to worry about with the 4th gen setup? Like recalls and such? Other wise I saw Luke's links has all four greasable on…

  18. So I am attempting to get my parking brake to work and it seems like it is assembled wrong. It is a 2500 with a cummins, but the engine shouldn't matter. This is the splice for the front to the right rear cable this is the adjuster which seems to be wrong, I cannot see how ti can work this way. here is why I cannot see it work, it is attached to the right rear cable housing and seems to have no action... So it seems to me that the adjuster should be attached to the splice rather than to the cable housing, however, I am unsure as to what it really should look like. I would appreciate a pic of a good working cable and adjuster from a 2500. Thank …

Ok i did a search for power seats and did not come up with what i was looking for. I Have a 2002 QC and am trying to swap in a driver power seat. I did research this and it seemed that the wiring was already there according to what i found. I added the breaker and tested the wires i have. I have a 4 pin connector with 3 wires. I think it was the red/blue that powered up with the addition of the breaker it was the only wire not used in the seat connector of the non power seat. After all that i look at the seat i have as a replacement and it has a rectangle plug with many more wires then what i have. Obviously this is not going to work. Do i need a different seat? …

I have a question for anyone that might come across this that has the T -stearing linkage/tie rods on their truck. Any experience with the "Thuren alignment specs" ? Very specific that you have t-style linkage or disregard spec's, 0.0 - 0.05 toe and 3.8 - 4.2 caster, I believe the emphasis is on the 0.0 toe? Just had it aligned and NOT happy with factory spec's, always holding the steering wheel to one side or the other, back and forth, back and forth... Anyone know a good alignment shop in Boise/treasure valley area? Thanks!
