Finally found a local source for the other alternator diode. I picked up one diode for now. Once I see a number of people wanting them I'll place an order for larger amount of them.

Well I went on @AH64ID suggestion and took a trip on down to Durobilt yesterday with the alternator from the 1996 Dodge 1500. Its a small shop in Nampa ID. Amazing to walk in and look at his stock he carries everything for starter and alternator from small cars to full size industrial application. Now moving on to my alternator he bench it quickly and it passed. I quickly told him I was having high AC noise issues. So he hands off the alternator to his crew man there while he show me around the building. Within about 2 to 3 minutes his employee had it pulled apart and the brushes were at thew limits just barely making contact. This would be my source of AC noise from the …

  4. I’m finally getting around to installing a Derale 15870 I’ve had in the garage for a while. I’m not stressing the trans as is, and honestly I’ve noticed temps staying lower (or more consistent) with just the addition of the Mag Hytec deep pan, so I’m a believer. Couple of questions to run by the group. 1.) I’m considering routing the hot oil to the remote cooler first, then to the factory cooler up front. My logic being that’ll mean less hot air being dumped over the intercooler, radiator, and engine. Would the heat transfer mitigation be enough to justify doing it that way and are there any plumbing considerations that would make this a bad idea? 2.) In an effort to redu…

Has anyone rebuilt one? I would like to try to rebuild mine so I have been on the interwebbs looking for parts. Is it necessary to replace the rectifier? I feel like I should because I am in there anyway? Right? Anyway, I have found parts on Larry B's but their recitifier is out of stock and it is $40 more than other places I have found. This is what I am looking at, any thoughts? http://www.aspwholesale.com/rectifier-nd-p1375.html http://www.aspwholesale.com/repair-kit-nd-er/if-136a-p6046.html

Anyone ever taken the seat heaters from one seat and put in another? I have access to factory heated seats but they are the wrong color so I thought if the elements are removable just put them in my seats.

  8. Here's some background: aprox 3 months ago before the hot season in Phoenix, AZ i wanted to get my ac working again so I replaced the liquid line and suction lines along with the orifice tube due to the leaky ball type valves in the lines. And i had noticed at the time my fan clutch was free ballin... so while I was at it i replaced the fan clutch with a 89 dollar Hayden fan clutch from Rock auto. Three months later into the hottest part of the year, that fan clutch engages at cold engine start up drive a couple miles and disengages. At the same time I have my ac running and it get's cold about 45-48 deg while moving. Come to a stop light and the darn a…

Had front left axle seal replaced last week, a few miles later the abs/brake light came on. Figured I’d drive and let it cycle a few times. Noticed some intermittent feedback in the brake pedal like abs was engaging. Light would go off after parked and come back on after a few miles. Also noticed a miss in acceleration followed by the abs light coming back on. Fuel pressure fine. Would an abs sensor issue explain the engine miss? Abs module was rebuilt a few years ago, rear speed sensor is new.

  10. Has anyone with factory fog lights on their Sport truck ever installed those aftermarket LED light assembly's? I can find some for the non-Sport trucks but nothing for the Sport trucks. (different mounts and assembly) At this point I'm simply looking for suggestions.....but not interesting is hacking things up under the bumper either. So its gotta fit.

Well. Finally was going to have my truck in working order until this. Went to my girlfriends. Came out to go home. To find my drivers side mirror laying in the ground and the passenger one flipped so far out it was flat and my truck smelling of beer. So I will be in search of a set of tow mirrors.

  13. LED Lighting Parts List LED marker light LED Taillight Heavy duty LED flasher As for installing it just simple change of parts. The flasher is found in your driver side of the dash. If the flasher been there a while then it might be difficult to remove. Just take your time and work the flasher it will come out. Pull the stock flasher out and plug in the new flasher. The replacement flasher can is slightly larger for the 12V dash. It will barely fit. Make sure to get the electronic flasher can. As for the taillights you need a T25 screwdriver. There are 2 screws holding each taillight in place. The outside edge …

I've been having trouble searching for threads on this site so I apologize if this has been covered! Found a set of 2011 wheels in excellent shape off of a 1 ton. I just want to be certain that they will fit and/or if they would need to be modified to fit! I have a Dana 80 rear with drums. Only info that I've found so far is that I would need different lug nuts. Could have sworn I have seen a member who has the same wheels on his rig! Thank You

I recently installed the rock solid steering bushing and it took the play out of my steering shaft but I still have a lot of play in the shifter tube part of the column. Does anyone know a fix for this other than a new column. Also does anyone have a parts breakdown of the column?

I currently have the manual towing mirror and they are driving me crazy. I'm constantly having to adjust the passenger side. Good thing I live in Florida as I carry an unbrella everywhere and makes it easy to adjust the mirror. Anyway, I'd like to upgrade to power mirrors and am wondering if the wiring for them is included in the truck even if it is not used? That certainly wold be a lot easier than wirinig power for them. I would have to get the control for them which I've found online. Now for the heated part of the mirrows. Is that something that the wiring is there but not connected as well? If so I would have to get the HVAC control with the mirror…

So I'm replacing the front fenders on my 01 Ram 2500 quad cab, I know there a huge pain to replace. My question is I'm wondering which would be better if I re-welded the new fenders in or just secured them with nuts and bolts? Let me know what you guys think or if anyone has done this.

  18. So last week driving along started to smell the very distinctive smell of wiring. Then the smoke came all within a few seconds. So my question is I was able to get the old resistor out but it melted the back side twords the firewall of the box . Thers 2 wires the look to have run behind the hvac box that jump off the harness going to the resistor. Does anyone know what they go too? Also the wires where so melted to the box I cant tell what color they are

My 97, when I got the truck, was missing the OHC. The plug is there, but the console is not. It has the black plug that has about 8-10 wires. I bought a console from a member here, and it's only a three wire connector. Apparently my SLT originally had the temp/compass, etc.. THis one I bought has a red plug, with courtesy lights and a pocket, only.I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to wire this one in.. I know ground and constant, but the third wire is for the door-open circuit to trigger the domelight and such. When the door is open, the yellow wire (truck-side) has no voltage. Close the door and the yellow wire gains 12V.I'm a tad confused, for some reas…

Hi I found a 2002 dodge ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.9 gas engine. I was wondering if it had the same suspension, steering, and brakes, etc. as the diesel.
