Hi CTD drivers,I was rotating my tires last week & noticed my front brake pads are beyond the 1/2 way point. I'm usually pulling something & she likes to work, at the moment a small 2 horse trailer & a slide in trk camper. My rotors are still good, factory style, look to me like they were updated w/ the last set of pads. I stop fine w/ what I have. I was driving w a 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer w 2 ATV's inside had to panic stop in the hills of WV, went around a blind curve downhill & my wife & I were both surprised how well it stopped. My reply was that's why I wanted a 3500 dually.I have no idea what's on there, so what are you guys using? Thanks,…

  2. I noticed that my A/C was getting weak again so I checked the pressure. It was down. I added 5 12 oz. cans to get the pressure back up. I had a charge line come loose on me and I lost a good bit before I caught it. I don't think all 5 cans went into the system. With the temp at about 90 degrees outside, I got the low side pressure to about 58 psi and the high side was around 250 psi. I could hear something leaking down at the compressor when I shut the engine down. I think that may be where my leak is. DUH!!! :banghead: I am gonna check the A/C again today and see how it performs. With a fresh charge of R134a, the output temp in the middle A/C outlet was about …

Looking for recommendations on the easiest/best way to clean up the engine bay of our trucks? I'd like to get things looking as new and shiney as possible but I've never do it before so not sure what all the prep to keep water out of, or anything else that should be done before I start spraying things down. Any good cleaners or degreasers? It'd be really nice to clean up all the mess from the crankcase vent, and then do the vent mod and be done with it for good!

Can people who have done this upgrade share their feelings? My truck needs tie rods, and if I am going to go 4th gen now is the time.

YEEEAAA!I seriously think doing a spray bedliner on the whole exterior of the truck is the way to go for N idaho! Anyone ever though of doing it or have done it and what did you think or do you think of it?To me its a no brainer. No more scratches, more dent resistant, dont have to worry about rust, probably easy to clean. I would think the advantages outweigh the dis.

Got the death wobble going when I hit a bump wrong, so I suppose it's time for a brace box. Is one as good as another, are they all the same or is there some to stay away from?

I am in need of getting some air bags installed due to my load requirements these days, I am running close to the max payload on my fifth wheel pin weight and have noticed handling and stability issues that I didn’t have before on my older configuration. anyway I have been looking and not to break the bank going to keep it simple for now and maybe get the on board air and controller later if I feel the need. For now I carry air compressor in my fiver so I do have access to air if out in the boonies. I have looked at these linked below, anybody have any experience with these or some similar. They both claim that they don’t work with fifth wheel conf…

Hey all, Now that I have all new/reman power steering system components, I'm wondering if I would benefit from throwing in an inline filter? I've heard of the Magnafine before. Are they good? What are you guys using if you have PS fluid filter and where should I place it?

No run/start power. Accessories position works. Timer module(?) under dash ticks about 4 times per second when door is open. No fuses seem blown, though we all know that means nothing. Sitting outside kid's baby sitter's house so any help appreciated! Have not had any prior issue with switch, behaves as brand new. Even the headlights don't work, but batteries are juiced. Under hood light works great, hitting hazards sounds like a cheap fart machine by emergency brake pedal. No brake lights. Changed out 50 amp Battery fuse, no help.

Pass. side tire is wearing on the outside. Actually both are but pass. side much worse. Wheel is centered and truck goes down the road straight. Didn't notice any worn or loose parts. Before I spend a day in the alignment shop I wanted to try myself but not sure which way to go?

I know this is kind of silly, but Im looking for the rubber plug that goes into the rear bumper where the tow ball goes through (the Center of the 3 holes). its a 1" hole that is pretty much straight down so a normal plug will not fit. The part that goes down into the hole has to be kind of long to wedge into the hole. I have probably spent entirely too much time searching through amazon, McMaster, Grainger, etc. trying to find a Plug/Grommet/etc, to go into this hole. Its just ugly w/o it....... LOL. Any suggestions on where I can find this? thanks Bob

I have a 3in lift on my truck and I'm thinking about taking it off does the suspension sit level with blocks and coil spring spacers takin off?

  13. Started by notlimah,

Well guys, I know the majority of you prefer to level your truck by hooking up a trailer or getting a bed full of stuff. For some, that doesn't cut it. I'm a bit in between, as I don't mind the rake, but I don't like the full stock rake. Anyways, Timbrens are what I decided to go with mainly for the simplistic concept. Took all of 8 bolts to unintall the old bump stops and put the new Timbrens in their place. This shows the comprison without the extra 1in spacer Timbren supplies as well. I did end up installing that as well. Installed, kinda hard to see. Measurements were ta…

  14. I just put on two new stabilizer links on the front. No problem installing them except for knowing how much to tighten the nut down on the bushings. They tightened easily until I ran out of threads. Is there a proper squish value on the bushings? I also tighten sector shaft adjustment on the steering box about 1/8 turn and it seems to be working better on the test drive here at home. I am leaving for Indiana shortly and will put it to the test then.

I figured I would share my next mod I did to the 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. I made my own tonneau cover for the bed so I can keep my stuff dry and out of the weather. I made the deck strong enough to hold a load of snow or my body weight about 200 pound. It made with CDX 1/2" plywood and 2x4's for the frame. Then covered the plywood with marine grade vinyl which my buddy do the vinyl work. (Thank You Kelly Hinkley!) So far I'm tickled to death for once I've got a bed cover and will soon be able to lock it up as well.

I Came across a pretty decent deal on a Ranch Hand and pulled the trigger. I ended up trading a well worn set of tires with about 35k miles on them And 300 bucks. I've been looking at them for quite a while but could never justify the cost, this is the best deal I have come across locally and I couldn't pass on it. A little leary about all the extra weight hanging off the front but well see how it goes. I can already tell by the weight of it either a spacer or a longer set of coils is going to be in order, not sure which route I'm going to go with yet. I was hoping to get it on this weekend but it's not going to happen, hopefully by next weekend. Here's a little peak at i…

  18. I decided to go through the trouble of installing a Momentary switch in the gear select arm. A Momentary switch means that it will only connect the circuit if the button is pressed. As soon as you release the button the circuit closes. IE: Pressing it will complete the Ground and trigger the Torque Converter to Lockup, as soon as you release the button the Torque converter lockup will release. This fixed the issue of forgetting that the switch was on when coming to a stop. I found that in the cases where I wanted to use the lockup switch I was already using my right hand to shift down or disable OD. It was only natural to think that a lockup switch on the Gear Sele…

Since leveling my truck, roughly 2-1/2" - 3" raise in the front, my upper control arms hit the bracket on the axle. I haven't had it aligned yet, but do I need to upgrade to adjustable or longer control arms? I thought the oem ones were good for leveling? I've seen people get adjustable lower ones to center the axle in the wheel well better but I can't see how that would help the hitting issue.
