Anyone seen RELIABLE information on adding acetone to diesel fuel? There is a lot of regurgitation around but I didn't see and good data.

  2. So today on The way to get the parts for our company truck while in my 01 3500 ram. I came around a curve and on the other side of the 2 lane road. I seen a doe standing next to the road I was going about 55 mph in 6th out of habit I geared down and let off the fuel pedal. The doe ran toward the fence and began to jump over mid jump she turned around and ran across the road as I got there I hit it dead center of my front bumper. I said some words as the deer went sliding down the road about 40 foot or so then off to my side. So I rode up past and got out to check for damage on the truck and there was almost no damage on it. I broke the bad fog light I was gonna replace. …

Ok, I am revisiting this, as it is my current topic of interest.Cliff Notes:I got pulled over because I had a lens missing on my trailer, allowing "white light" to be visible. Upon further inspection, he deemed a number of other issues that 'need attention'...so, my trailer is 25' enclosed. Front has one marker light on each upper corner (forward facing) and one on each lower corner (side facing); no center lights on upper forward-facing panel.Rear has three upper-center lights but no outer upper corner lights (rear-facing.) One red each on rear lower side corners.Truck has no cab clearance lighting."Since you're in excess of 10000 lb gross weight, you need proper clea…

I'm thinking about getting this air compressor and plumb it in to my rear bumper for an aux tank, http://www.amazon.com/Viair-45040-450C-Air-Compressor/dp/B000FQ78VI Anyone else done this and maybe a good place to put it in? I'm thinking under bed where spear tire used to be, or under hood but not much room there. I think it would be nice to have for air bags and if pulling trailer you can always fix a flat and air it up. I know I could buy a cheap one that plugs in cigarette lighter but I would rather go this way.

I bought my dually more because I got a great deal rather than for the necessity that I had for dual rear wheels. At first I wasn't sure I liked the wider back end but I have come to terms with it and really don't mind the extra pair of tires at all...except when it comes to checking air pressure and servicing the back tires. What a pain in the butt! I have stock wheels so in order to access the valve stem on either the inside or outside tire I have to remove the chrome beauty ring and coerce my 11 year old to help me remove the valve stem caps. My hands are too big to fit through the holes in the rims and removing the outside tires isn't practical. I am convinced th…

Driving at night in my truck is like driving with my eyes closed and I need to do something about it. I have been looking for an entire fog light kit since my truck does not have the stock fog lights installed. I had ordered a set off ebay but they were too big and did not fit(think they were the 3''). I also checked the dealer and they said there are none available for the diesels, which I find hard to believe since I see them on other trucks all the time. I am looking for a set that will fit in the stock location and that comes with the wiring harness and switch. If anyone knows of somewhere to get these please let me know. Thanks

I recently got a scangauge and it shows 0.00 gph when idling or on fast idle. Is this normal or is there a setting to change? I can't see how it can be accurate on mpg if it doesn't record idling time.

Guys, having a tough time wrapping my thick head around the heating and A/C systems on the Ram 2500. Have worked on cars for most of my life and never seen something like this.First off had a diverter door go out. Took it into a good A/C shop here in town and they fixed it, pulling the entire dash out and replacing the door assy. Drove off thinking that finally after owning the truck for 18 months that the little knob called the "temp control" might now work! Well dammit, it does not!Put the A/C in max A/C and no change but believe that this is normal. Move the mode controller to the second position, normal A/C and once again the temp control knob might as well not even b…

Hello, My 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24 valve 250xxx has an interesting issue. I have done quite a bit to the front end to try and figure out this issue. Replaced the steering gear box with a redhead unit. Steering gear box brace. Track bar upgrade to bushing with heim joint. Power steering lines when I did the steering gear box. Borg Warner steering shaft upgrade. That delron piece on the steering unit engine side this one http://rocksolidramtrucksteering.com/index.php/about-the-fix/ . Rebuilt the vacuum pump. Replaced the hydroboost a few years ago. Calipers like 2 or 3 times now. Pulled the rear proportioning valve off as it was rusted heavily and I blew t…

so, to all the flatbed owners out there.. Where do you have your mudflaps hanging? Close to the rear tires, or further back. My mudflaps are are hard plastic (recycled 'something') and pretty stiff. they are 2X3 foot. I'll probably trim them a little. If I mount them right behind the rear duals, say 4-5 inches back of the tire, It'll keep crap off the tailpipe... but there is always the concern of ripping them off whilst backing up in mud... Semi driver friend warned me about that.. If I mount them towards the back of the bed, then the exhaust may melt the flap.. the flap would only be 5-6 inches away from the exhaust flow. Thanks for any advice!

So I'm on my 2nd full tank of diesel in my new to me 1999 3500 24v. Each with a bottle of Diesel Kleen (40 gal treatment quantity) and I must say the Diesel Kleen really seems to have quieted the clackety clack down. At $8-$10 per bottle I don't think I will be doing that at every fill up for much longer, but will continue sporadically. I'm certain the previous owner NEVER ran any sort of additive or "helper" fluids so I'm trying to do what I can to get her back in to shape. I am subscribing to what I've read, that 2 cycle oil with TCW3 added to the fuel will help to keep things lubricated, including the lift pump and will hopefully extend the life of it. It makes…

ordered myself up a steering column gauge pod for a trans. temp gauge. Its an autometer pod. I'm a little thrown off by it. There are no obvious ways of mounting it? It came with some sticky tape and barbed fasteners. How are these pods monted properly? BTW, I have not broke into the column to see what to expect yet. I figured someone on here ought to know?

I am down to my last bottle of Valvoline Semi-Synthetic power steering fluid. Can't seem to find anymore. I draw out the power steering fluid in the pump reservoir at each oil change and refill with new just to keep the PS fluid fairly fresh. What are you guys using? Thanks.

  16. Hey all... My son bought a 98.5 about a year ago. He brought into a shop for something (can't remember) and they dropped a bomb ... but said otherwise... runs fantastic. I haven't been keeping up to date with things... So, I'm here asking for guidance/recommendations as far as making sure he gets/uses quality parts... please. I don't know what a PCS BIG BORE GEARBOX is. Is this good? Is Redhead still a good or a better choice? Should he go with Dodge Off Road steering brace as well? What track bar should he go with? Dodge Off Road? Shocks? Bilsteins still a great choice? Which model? Stock height... Are all ball joints crea…

Well with the weather and day light times slowly moving towards towards warmer and longer, I'm getting together a list of things (mainly common preventative maintenance stuff) thing I'd like to get done. I have some questions regarding each so help me out! 1. Brakes: I'm pretty sure the PO got them done (probably just pads) just before I bought it but I'd like to redo the rotors and pads. Anything special here I should be looking at brand wise or pad material? Geno's sells hawk pads, are they any good? 2. Ball Joints: I've read through @Me78569 thread on his quest to find some, so were the spicer ones from Dennys able to get the job done? …

  19. Hi all, I'm new here, just bought an apps sensor and saw this forum that looks very informative so I figured I would join! Anyways here are my issues: 1- P0122 code which I figure is the apps because I did the reset found on the cummins forum and it went away for a few days but now is back... Going to install new apps tonight. 2- Rough starts first thing in the morning. Seems like it cranks over for about 2-3 seconds before firing up, no issues starting any other time of day. 3- if I don't allow the truck to warm up and shift directly into drive it bogs down quite a bit, then RPMs bounce back up and I'm good. It has died a couple times. No issues at lights …
