2nd Generation Dodge Non-Powertrain

Discussion of the 1994 to 2002 2nd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks with 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel non-power train. This includes interior, air conditioning, heating, lighting, body, suspension, brakes, stereos, etc.

  1. What do you recommend for LED's and headlight housings? Is there a light/housing combo that you would recommend? I need something that is very bright both short distance and long distance as I do a lot of traveling during the night hours.. Also, they need to perform great during snowy and rainy conditions. Links to products would be preferred. And no, I'm not a fan of light bars. Let's hear those setups/recommendations! (Please include any necessary wiring harnesses for setups)

Kind of late posting this but I've been busy. I finally round filed the old aluminum canopy and got a Lund Roll Up Tonneau Cover. Works excellent. Pulls rather snug and doesn't flap much and kept my dry wall dry.

Hi, I have searched but can't seem to find anything definitive that relates. My brother has a 94 and he dropped battery cable and shorted it out under hood. (not sure why truck was running) Anyway of course it is now not charging. He has had alt tested and appears to be OK. He has bypassed the ECU with a regulator no difference. He has supposedly checked the Fusible link and its OK, I have been doing some reading and every once in awhile someone refers to crank sensor, what does this have to do with a non charge situation? He is going to bring truck to me so I thought I would pose for suggestions. I cant validate the alt test at all so I will check diodes to see where t…

Looking for options on the rear view camera to help with trailer hookup and general use, please share your thoughts. Some options may include: navigation, Bluetooth, etc. Looking at multiple options as I need a new stereo also, that has usb port for music and Bluetooth for phone. 1. single din flip up screen. Not too many choices for quality, mixed reviews, screeks break. 2. double din. More to chose from, even android auto for qwadzilla tuning, but lots of work on dash. will kill many birds with one stone. 3. rear view mirror replacement with another one that has a built-in monitor, and get a regular cd player that has usb and Bluet…

I was checking to see why my block heater stopped working and found that the plug had burned off. It looks like it got moisture in it and corroded and caused it to arc. Something you may want to check once and a while. If it was kept clean it would probably still work. Picking up a new one from Napa today.

Wife got me a backup camera for my birthday. Came from Costco. Has multiple install options from plug and play to hard wired. Pretty excited about being able to see my trailer ball when hooking up!!! It's a Yada brand.

I live down in South Mississippi where even on the coldest days it may drop to the 20s in the morning but by the time the sun comes up good temps rise into the upper 30s. and this is only for a few days out of the year. My reason for asking is I read on a couple articles that it can reduce egts. My egts at cruise (75mph) are around 900 degrees and of course shoot up pretty quickly if I get on the throttle at all. Will this help that come down?? I want to go with bigger injectors and Turbo in the near future just trying to save up the funds. Truck is a 2001 ecsb 2500 with a built 47re. It does have a 5inch lift and 35s on 20s which i know play a factor in the problem.…

I am looking for pictures and ideas of where to mount switches in my truck. I am going to have to build my own cubby hole mount for my high idle switch. I am mounting 3 rocker switches below the CD player. I am going to need about 6 more mounting spots for other switches... Pictures will be of great help thanks.

So when the weather starts to get a little cold outside my Clutch Pedal becomes squeaky when depressed. It is not the bearings or anything like that it is the pedal linkage itself. I have sprayed WD40 to up at the top of the pedal linkage connection but it doesn't seem to help or I am not hitting the right part. Anyone else experience this issue or have any insight? Everything functions fine it is just a little annoying. Seems I always have to find something to chase down on the rig.

I can't seem to find anything definitive on this... I've read some that say the 4th gen steering linkage that Dodge sells is a direct bolt in on a 2002 and some that say it's not. I found a couple posts in other forums where they said it rubbed the factory 16" wheels on 01-02s but a little grinding to care of that. Anyone know for sure? I know there are a/m options out there for these trucks but I've got a buddy at a Dodge dealership that can get me employee pricing so I'd like to find something from Dodge. Thanks in advance.

Wire connection questions I have to mess around behind "A" pillar. Mostly small 18-22 gauge wire looks to me. Solder, shrink tube, dinky wire nuts, etc... What do you prefer to be the best connection as a general rule? (Bonus question...) On this forum where should postings go that are general in nature? Thanks

My truck has a factory security theft system. It was an option for our trucks. When you lock the doors with the key fob, the truck will not start without unlocking the system with the key fob. If you are inside the truck and lock the doors with the fob, it will crank, start, and then the engine shuts off. My question to those that are wiser than me, "has anyone tried to see exactly how this system works?" Does the system have to be activated with a down load?

I'm going to do some rust repair on the bottom of my doors and I'm just going to use rattle cans to paint. Does anyone know of a good paint that will match fairly close? It doesn't have to match perfect, I'll just paint up to the trim.

The steering gear on my 96' 2500 4x4 has a lot of play in it and leaks quite a bit. The steering shaft has a decent amount of lateral play so it either needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The biggest issue with rebuilding it is finding a kit that has bearings/bushings and not just seals.
