I was curious if the passenger seat belt on anyone's single cab truck can lock. Where you pull the belt out all the way and it ratchets back. So you can put a car seat in. I am am not sure if the seat belt isn't working right in my truck. Thanks

So my A/C isn't blowing that cold of air out. It'll get somewhat cool, but not cold like A/C should. I recently did the heater treated fix and it definitely made the heater air hotter. I took apart my blower motor and it wasn't a mess. I cleaned it up anyways. The resistor doesn't look that bad. Probably stock but no major cracks or anything. Is it just in need of a basic A/C recharge?

Hey all, I'm looking to copy Mikes idea of sticking some lights on the rear axle to increase visibility when backing up. Wiring in those lights seems fairly straight forward. I was also looking to add the bypass switch so I can flip them on while in park. Couple questions... Anyone know what wire in the trailer harness is for reverse? What wire do I splice into on the neutral safety switch on the trans?

Any reason to replace the pitman arm on a 4x4? Threads are nice and there's no play when everything is attached. I'm replacing the gear box, for the 3rd time, finally with a borgeson and figured I should just the replace the pitman arm as well. The other issue is that after upgrading to the 3rd/4th gen "T" steering, the pitman arm to drag link tie rod came out pretty easy without using a puller. I don't know if the pitman arm could wear at that connection.

New to the site here so be patient with me. I have been wanting to join this site for awhile so this is as good an excuse as any. The last two mornings I have seen what looks like vapor/smoke coming through my A/C or Heater vent. It is very light and almost unnoticeable but it drives me nuts. It only lasts about 15 seconds or so and is very light. It does not have a smoky smell it is more of a light musty smell but it is very faint you have to get your nose directly in it. Comes on when the truck is fully warmed up at 190 degrees. My blower motor is not on at all the heat dial is set to heat. When I drive throughout the day the problem never happens again. I …

I my drive my truck once a week or so, it's sat for over a week. Wife needed the car so I checked the oil, found a family of mice on the engine. Killed three of them, rest go away. The light for the cruise never came on when I pushed the button and I tried a number of times when driving. Even thought maybe the light was burned out, but shrill no go. Removed the cruise switches last night and with the key on there is no power to any of the wires. Checked the fuses in the cab and under the hood, all fuses are good. Never did find out whic fuse the cruise gets its power from. The only thing I can think of is the mice chewed of a wire, but I haven't found any.

So, I've never had my truck aligned (I've put 135k) since I've had it. The tires have always worn evenly. I replaced the ball joints on the drivers side. Last fall the tires were wearing, so I took it in and had it checked. The toe-in was off, but I don't remember if it was positive or negative. He set toe-in at +0.10. He said the drivers side camber was at +1.35 and passengers side was ar +0.23. I told him to leave it and when I put new tires on in the spring we would do it then. I know both sides have 1 degree bushings already in the top ball joints. So, I decided to check camber the redneck way. I downloaded an spirit level app for my iPad. Parked on l…

I'm currently trying to figure out why I have to recharge my AC every spring I'm looking for leaks. Question is what are the sections of tubing that have the tin foil like tape on them? The one behind the battery I can hear flowing or leaking in it after turning the truck off for a minute or so.

  15. So as the story goes..... The past couple weeks I've been hearing and feeling with my superhero like senses as I attentively and constantly monitor my truck for any odd noises, vibrations, and clunks.....I thought I felt something. Very difficult to detect but definitely something is not right and the best way I can describe it is as a very lite thump transmitted through the front suspension when I hit a sharp small bump, like a road reflector bump. Other than that it rides glassy smooth. Luckily I live on some fairly low traveled rural roads because I've been driving the center and wrong lane quite a bit trying to identify where the irritating feel is coming from, …

Hey guys, So I have a few questions for those who have experience with the Scangauge 2. I have had mine since Christmas and I really like it, but I'm having a really hard time getting the fuel usage features calibrated. The first issue was I had a Smarty. So I sold that and got an Edge comp, but its still taking FOREVER to get it to be accurate. Its still about 4.5 mpgs high on the average mpgs. I did notice something I think is really odd though. At idle, it is showing some minor fuel usage, between about .06 and .2 gph. It is reading 0 mpgs at idle though so thats good. Heres the even weirder part, I can be cruising along and if I let off the go pedal some, it will…

Hey guys, So I'm sure everyone has seen those pickup trucks that have either the bed or cab sagging so badly that the truck is folding in half. I absolutely hate that look, even the slightest bit. Well I think my truck has started to do this, ever so slightly. I'm probably the only one who would notice it. But I wanna get a jump on trying to figure it out. Does anyone know what causes this? Is it worn out cab mount bushings? Can I get replacements? Has anyone else encountered this issue? thanks! EDIT: So just looking around I found Energy Suspension poly cab bushings at Geno's for $120. So now my questions are, how much work are they to replace?…

I walk to my truck the other day and found that one of my rear leafs on the was missing a 4 inch piece out of it. I am looking for opinions on which way to go. Rock auto as new one anywhere from 150-250 a side, the local spring shop said that they would replace the broken spring and the same spring on the other side along with re curving them for 600. Or I could have local shop, deaver, or atlas spring build me a set that would get rid of the factory block which would cost me around 1200-1500. I would like to know as anyone run leaf that have got rid of the factory leafs and put in after market leafs. Along with when you replaced the leafs did you notice any difference in…

Went in to the tire store today with a slow leaking tire. Turns out to be a cracked rim. I bought a used set of oe rims a while back so I have some spares, but with 3 rims with cracks I dont think what I have is going to last much longer. So I have done alot of looking this evening and while there are a lot of wheels out there I find very few that have the same off set and backspace as the OE. From my research and doing some measuring of the OE rims it would appear I need a 43mm off set and 6.2" back space. Not sure why you need the 2 measurements. It would seem to me the they are 2 different ways to measure the same thing. Almost everything I saw had a 0mm off set. Not s…

So I've had the DOR track bar on for almost 2 weeks now and it's been great having the extra strength up there and it's keeping everything in line much better when truckin down the road. When my brother and I originally put the track bar on we basically used the stock end links as visual cues as to where the 'center' would be. Well going solely on that, I think things turned out pretty good. Truck drives straighter then it ever has and has little to no wonder now and I haven't even gotten a proper alignment yet. Needless to say I was taking out the trash and just happen to glance over and saw that my passenger side tire is sticking out noticeably further then …
