Looks like a drawn out winter this year.... and as I watch my electric bill soar I'd like to buy a good 24 hour timer for my main chore tractor. It's the one I jump in every morning at sun up. Instead of having it plugged in all night, I wish to have it come on about 3 hours before hand. If I know I'll be going to town after chores, that's when I'll plug in the Dodge. any recommendations on a good outdoor timer? I'd think one up to 1500 watts should handle my tractor. Usually, we get a blast of cold, then it tempers within a few days. So far, it's been zero or less every night since almost Thank…

I know this has been discussed in the past, but I wanted a refreshment on this subject. I need to bring some sheet rock home and wondering where the limit is. From what I read d80 supposed to handle something like 11,000lb so hopefully I don't have to worry about axle housing or bearings failing. Another factor is springs, which I have air bags to help and tires. I would say I can move around 4,000lb driving in town taking it easy. I've had right at 4,000lb of paving blocks in her before and did just fine. The issue now is my truck is a short box and I'm getting 12 feet long sheets of drywall so the weight will shift more back. I made a support bracket that slides in rec…

  3. I was leaking oil from my vacuum pump, and I just replaced the seals in my vacuum pump with the kit from Gould Gear and electric. This kit is great made the repair simple. I'm sure most of you already heard of them.

I bought a set of tow mirrors to replace the stock mirrors on my truck. I got them from Rock Auto. There wasn't an instruction or even a tip for installation in the box that I got. I got them installed but I was left with a few questions about the install. For instance, the new bracket on the driver's side door is in the way of the mirror adjustment switch. I cannot fully install the door panel. Has anyone else ran into this? The panel will fully install with the switch removed, but that does me no good either. One of the three nuts holding the mirror in place hits the switch. There has to be something that I can do. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi.. I have factory fog lights installed on my truck that didn't have em. I have them wired to a toggle. I'd like to have them wired to my headlight switch if it's not too complicated. It seems I have a connector under the radiator that I'm guessing would go to the fogs. Is this correct? And.. I would need the push/pull switch. If I got one... would it be plug and play? What's involved in swapping the switches.. do I need to dismantle the entire dash? Would I need a harness and switch specific to my year? I'm adding another set of fogs to the front and lights to the back and would like to keep toggle switches to a minimum. Thanks in advance...

  7. hey guys, i got a problem. late last week my power steering barfed up all the fluid all at once and had no power steering. after crawling under the truck, the only place i can find fluid is on the front of the gear box. all the hoses and lines seem dry. the hoses are in the factory slit-loom and none of the loom has fluid in them. it didn't barf it from the connection on the gear box as far as i can tell and the area around and below the pump are dry also. i looks as if it all came out from around the circle in the front of the gear box (but i don't see any holes, just fluid). i'm about to pull it later tonight, but is there anything i might be overlooking? any suggestion…

So, now that I know the module is for the ABS on the truck...I'd really like to hear your thoughts on how well it works before I go through the exercise of finding a way to hook it back up or look for an alternate solution? I remember it was not all that great on my '93 Pontiac compared to more modern versions.

It's a totally different color now, had it wrapped in gloss amber brown, looks really coppery in the sunlight, also had the windows tinted. The first thing I did with my nice clean truck was make a couple dump runs. A truck can look good and still put in the work.

replaced my heater core a while back. Now the cruise control light in the dash does not work. The cruise control functions normally, just no light. Anyone know how to address this problem?

Leaving work today my backup lights decided to turn on for the first time since I've owned the truck and not shut off the entire drive home. I unplugged all the wires from the transmission, pulled the fuse for the backup lights and they still remained on, so I just pulled the bulbs out. After a quick interwebs search it looks as if the neutral safety switch is bad, so I got one coming for tomorrow at the parts store. I could see if the switch was bad the lights not coming on in reverse, which I assume was the reason they never worked before. But what would cause them to come on all of a sudden and not go out even after pulling the fuse?

  12. As the title states I have a chirping squeak under acceleration never heard something like this and whats worse is it is in the cab within the dash. Also the forward dash screws keep getting loose definitely becoming an annoyance any clues as to how to keep them tight and what may cause a chirping sound in the dash?

I seen a lot of you adding after market headlight to improve the oe ones. I have always liked the way the stockers look and until the oe ones started to glaze over. I had been satisfied with the light they put out. So it stock is not what you want this thread is not about upgrades. I bought a set of headlights only from A1 Auto. They cost $75, came with new bulbs and no turn signals. My old turn signals look just fine. Eagle Eyes is the brand . I don't think the photos show either very well. All in all I am very happy with how it turned out. The big question is Ho long will they last. Only time will tell that one. If you after major upgrades like HID or Sport these aren'…

Wire connection questions I have to mess around behind "A" pillar. Mostly small 18-22 gauge wire looks to me. Solder, shrink tube, dinky wire nuts, etc... What do you prefer to be the best connection as a general rule? (Bonus question...) On this forum where should postings go that are general in nature? Thanks

I took off for work this am driving down a 4 lane. had backed out of the throttle and when I eased back in heard a loud bang. Almost like some hit the axle or frame with a 5# hammer. Thought for sure i had broken something, not convinced have not yet. I pulled into the convenience store for coffee and get out and do a walk around. Nothing hanging of the truck, no fluid leaking, gauges all reading good just nothing visibly wrong. The bang seemed to come from the passenger side of the front axle best I can tell. Just not sure. I drove 40 miles to work on the interstate, no issues. Drove 40 miles back plus all around the job, nothing out of the ordinary. If I ran over someth…

  19. I cannot find in the article about the added wire(s) from battery to battery. It was in the last few paragraphs, but the article has been cut short and doesn't include the battery equalization cables we are to add between batteries. In a discussion with W-T yesterday they are very important. It is supposed to be in the archives if anyone knows.

  20. 3 dumb quick questions 1) Can someone paint me a picture or upload one) of how the spring/plastic button in the overhead MAP lights go together. I had it fixed (1 side) then took it apart for reference to fix other side and it all flew over the truck - and now neither work so I have no point of reference. Just the spring activated button with the plastic toggles. How many pieces and how they connect to create the 'spring'. 2) I had a faulty vp44 and tracked back to dodgy (like the pun ?) fuel output/return lines on top of fuel canister in tank. Whilst taking the grey clip off the harness/canister to check I broke it - and now it says FULL all the time when reconnected. I …
