  3. I am building my '99 2500 Shortbed 4x4 6 speed diesel into an Overland style rig. Not a crawler, but not a mellow desert truck either. I am looking at long arm kits, shackle flips, maybe going to 37s (on 35s now), need to regear and add lockers too. As far as suspension I am looking at DOR stuff...trying to get minimal lift with maximum travel and I think DOR has that covered between the long arms and the shackle flip. Eventually I might do the coilovers but for now I will likely jut respring the front and use my fairly new Bilsteins. I think I will do ARBs for the lockers...pretty darn pricey but it just seems to be the best strongest selectable lockers. I plan t…

I'll try to explain what I got. The first inch or so of my pedal travel is soft after the truck sits. If I pump a few time or put my foot under the pedal and pull it up I have nice firm brakes but after a few minutes it goes soft again. The pedal will return on it's own but slower than in should. I have no leaks or fluid loss although at first I thought a rear line had gone bad. I'm thinking master cylinder but I am fairly new to the hydro boost system and this started around the time I had the PS /vac pump out to rebuild the vac pump. I have not checked my rear adjustment yet but they were good not too long ago. I'd appreciate any advise. I put this on another forum and …

A little over a year ago I posted a thread seeking help on my A/C. You can view it here: http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/8324-need-ac-help/ It has since been archived, but I'll give you the background to it here to save you some reading. The problem:(taken from the original post): "Most of the time (95%), my A/C just blows hot air regardless of where the temperature control knob is. If I have been driving for a while, especially on the highway, the A/C might start blowing nice cold air. I never get too excited because soon after that, I will hear a single pop noise under the hood and the air gets hot again. This pop noise (thud or thump might be mo…

First time it read no bus I pulled out the cluster to make sure it was getting power like it was supposed to according to all data. Voltage was good so I put it back in and it worked fine for two weeks now its is doing it again so I pulled the self diagnostic cluster codes and got all of them that all data list for the cluster. 900,920,921,940,950,999. I'm thinking this means I need a cluster which is very unfortunate I just put a new tranny in 1500 miles ago. Anybody's knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I ran into a problem when I was trying to change my front driver side brake line on my 99 4wd. I went to Napa and got a brake line, but when I was about to take the old one off I noticed where it mounts to the frame there is another line that comes and t's into the brake line I'm trying to replace. It's kind of hard to visualize so I'll try to take a pic. The brake line I bought to replace the bad one didn't have a fitting for the other line. Should I but the line from the dealer? I can't seem to find any parts stores that have what I'm looking for. Thanks

Has anyone here swapped out stub/outer axles on a 98 and put in 2000/2002 axles and bearings? I have looked at and measured both axles and bearings, 02 axle just a bit shorter, inner bearing the same, 02 has the studs in the bearing flange. Both use the same u joint and mount to the knuckle on the 4 bolt holes. My goal is to have the free float rotor with the newer set up. Please include any pics and if you had to modify anything to make it work. Thanks Dave.

  11. I really need some help guys, if anyone has any knowledge of the HVAC wiring in these trucks. just to throw it out there, my number is seven 6 oh, 405-3016. Here's what happened........................I really have no idea what happened, to be honest...one minute it was working, the next it wasnt. I lost the lighting in the panel, and the blower motor quit working. I've pulled the motor, and tested it on the bench, and it spins perfectly. I checked the resistor (visually) and it seemed fine, but to double check, I overnighted a new one from Rock Auto. This is where I can't figure out what's going on. I have 12v to the fan when the truck is on-it should be spinning,…

Hey everyone since it’s colder nowadays on my first crank there’s grinding, but if I try again it’s fine. I popped open the inspection cover and all the teeth seems to be perfectly fine. I just bought a new starter and took the old one out but it appears to be fairly new. Is it very common for starters to do this?

So my A/C isn't blowing that cold of air out. It'll get somewhat cool, but not cold like A/C should. I recently did the heater treated fix and it definitely made the heater air hotter. I took apart my blower motor and it wasn't a mess. I cleaned it up anyways. The resistor doesn't look that bad. Probably stock but no major cracks or anything. Is it just in need of a basic A/C recharge?

Ok got my truck back today from the shop. Complete front end. BD Adj Trackbar, all tierods, ball joints, stabilizer bracket. The steering is really tight. if you turn it it stays turned and honestly it takes a lot more effort to just turn the wheel then it did before it went in. Before it was so bad i could saw the wheel back and forth and it would make no change to the direction of the truck. So thats the story. the shop says drive it for a week and it might loosen up. The joints are Moog and i was told the drivers side is the really tight ones they actually broke 3 ball joint presses trying to get them out and finally had to cut one of them out.The question is... Is thi…

Anyone know of a fix for broken glove box hinges or where I could find a used one for less than 75.00. That seems to be the going rate on Ebay. Tried the junk yards around my area but no luck so far.

It’s time to put ball joints in the dodge so I’ve been gathering parts. Sounds like many folks recommend the AC DELCO pros. I ordered 3 off amazon and One off rock auto since amazon didn’t have all 4 I needed. Here’s what showed up first. Amazon has the dull knurled, rock auto was smooth polished one. So I returned the 3 amazon ball joints and ordered the rest from rock auto. And the ones that showed up today look just like the amazon ones. I don’t even know which one’s to put in since the body length and tapers are completely different from one set to the next with same part number. There’s been a mix of USA and Taiwan made parts I stopped into Napa and their hou…

  20. Hello, I have a 98.5 quad cab LB 4x4 with the camper/towing package. It didn't come with the lights. I found the wires up underneath the bumper for them. Did they not put on from factory because of the tow package? And if possible can they be installed. I like the the ones on your truck Mopar Man but in my state they would give me trouble at inspection. Thanks,John
