Wanting some opinions here on the rusty door problem our rams have. I'm about to drop $1000 on Omni plus paint to put a new paint job on my truck. I have a great body man who is helping me do it right. I'm doing all the grunt work. So my question is what would you do to repair knowing you are trying to put a quality paint job on.

I had a 35 year old, dried up can of #7 heavy duty Rubbing Compound I used on a old cotton sock with a little water to hand buff my factory original head lights on my '99's oxidized and yellowed lenses No sanding with any wet or dry of various grits, No electric drill or elec buffer. no masking off the fender etc in-case the elec buffer went wild. Just the compound.and a piece of cotton sock and a few minutes of elbow grease Its pretty abrasive stuff so I never tried it before. It worked great, hand buffed maybe 3 minutes per side. Them washed off with a soft brush and water hose. Nice and clear no yellowing or oxydation No they…

  4. Instead of taking apart the dash or spending the extra time to cut the rubber floor pad and remove those hard to get screws, Is it possible to just cut the housing and make your own access door for servicing this problem with the diverter? It would make it easier for future work as well.A guy could get some black plastic and put that over the hole you cut. Yes? No?:shrug:TIA

Hey guys, finally getting around to wiring up my trans gauge. It's the isspro ev gauge so it comes with the amplifier box. I'm already using a couple other key on 12v sources so looking to use another one if I can. Is there a list or diagram I can reference to check? I tried splicing into one one in already using but I'm not getting correct reading on th gauge so I'm trying to isolate the power to help troubleshooting.

I was loosing a half gallon or so a week of cooling fluid last winter. Now I'm not. I suspect that it is a heater core issue? Heat turned off for months. I have no air conditioning system on my truck.

My steering pulses while turning. It stops when the steering wheel stops turning and it doesn't matter what position the wheels or steering wheel are in. Also there is no whineing or noise from the pump. Any ideas?

I think my fan clutch is not disengaging. Looking for a fuel efficient fan clutch if one exists. I did a web search and came up with this article. Just skimmed so far, but it has a lot of good info. Maybe Michael wrote it? http://cumminsengines.com/uploads/docs/cummins_secrets_of_better_fuel_economy.pdf Would love to discuss more here on maximizing fuel economy without getting the thread closed due to decisive conversation. It's good for all of us!

  13. Does anyone know why most 2nd gen CTD shocks list "Exclusion: Snow Plow Prep Package"?I did not get (or maybe I couldn't get) the snow plow option when I ordered my truck back in 1997 and am wondering if there is a special coil and/or shock setup that would allow a snow plow setup? I'm thinking it might have been an axle overload issue though (too much weight with the Cummins engine to throw the weight of the snow plow on top of that front axle). Also, does anyone know what the camper option added to the suspension? Thanks for any advice or information you can provide ahead of time!

Does anyone have a mod or upgrade to the stupid plastic lock on the rear slide window? Mine slowly pops loose. It doesn't seem very secure to begin with.

  15. i have been a member here for not quite 1 1/2 years. it is by far the best forum of any i have been to. i came here with a truck i was about ready to get rid of and today i have one that runs better than it ever has. a little is due to upgrades. the rest is due to all of the help i have received here from all of the people that know more than i.i came here after spending many months at other places trying to solve my problems and finally took it upon my self that i knew more than the people i was tryng to get answers from. that was mostly because i was being ignored. i bought an ecm and got it back on the road. it was then i found Mopar1973Man.com and the vast wealth of k…

Going to two tone my truck. Current color is Patriot Blue. Had it painted a couple years ago, but it's one of those you get what you pay for deal. The guy that did it used cheaper quality materials and it shows. I'm keeping the Patriot Blue so I don't need to mess with the jams and such, but adding Dark spiral gray metallic (GMC color 805K). I thought put the gray on the bottom, but my new paint guy suggests the gray on top.

  18. Hey guys, about to put in my blue-top box I got and wanted to make sure I was thinking this through correctly. The following sound ok? 1. To flush out the old lines I plan on having the old box off, and just running fresh power steering fluid through the reservoir for a 1/2-full quart. 2. Once everything back together I plan on putting fluid in reservoir until 3/4 full, starting truck and first, pumping brakes, then checking fluid, add as neccessary, then turning wheels full lock one way, checking fluid, full lock the other way, then checking fluid. That sound about right for doing this?

OK,So my valve cover has not taken the test of time very well. In fact it looks unsightly. When I do the valve adjust, I'd like to clean up & resore the lettering or maybe just clear it all after its been cleaned. Much of the clear coat is chipped away. Anyone done this? What products should I use? Wire wheel on a die grinder to clean maybe? And?Thanks,Dave

All winter I've had the dreaded steamed up oily windows from running my defrost. I just assumed it was the heater core and that's going to be a bear to change. However a friend at work with a 01 cummins has the same problem and thinks it is the ac leaking. We both have some thing leaking from the floor vent. I thought it was dirty antifreeze but he says it's more oily coming from the ac. Sometimes I think it smells like antifreeze but then yet it doesn't. He put in 2 cans of 134 and a stop leak to see if it fixes it. So I remembered I had to charge mine twice last summer. so it was pushing 60 degrees today so I tried my ac it never got cold. So should I try some stop lea…
