I just bought a 2002 dodge 2500 cummins quad cab. The fuel gauge was not working. It was stuck below E with fuel light on. Took it to local shop and they said need new sender. Looked on here and found the correct part number. Thank you. Shop installed and gauge still not working. Shop tested wires and said they are sending signal all the way to the PCM. After that they don't know. I looked on here how to test cluster with the trip button. The gauge moved as it should. I brought truck home and need to know where to look next. Thank you.

does anyone know what the torque spec is for the main hub nut that is on the front axle for the wheel bearing assembly? Also, might be helpful to know the spec for the 4 12point bolts that bolt in from behind and hold it on.I had the driver side seize up on me Friday night on the interstate. Yay! Not bad though..no one got hurt.

  4. OK Guy's.."The moment you've all been waiting for" Here is a complete start to finish Details on Converting Standard 2-headlight system to a Sport Quad headlight sys. i did a few months ago Let me tell you it was a P.I.T.A...i had nothing to go on as none of the threads i found on any of the forums involved building your own from scratch "w/Heavy Duty Stuff" ..most of the write ups were people who had bought a pre-wired harness..like the ones for example suvlights.com or others..all reported problems either "fog lights staying on..lights would not turn off, lights would not come on or lights were dim on bright, etc... So not finding any information in relation to a pos…

  5. Alright, kinda wish I would have taken more pictures, but I was hot and ready to get it back on the road... So here is what I got, perhaps this will help someone looking to replace their own. First things first. Go out and take a look at your Dana 80. Now, I don't have a photo of the other type for comparison, but there are actually two different Dana 80's in the 2001 and 2002 model year. This is important to get the proper seal. For my axle, in a 2001.5 Ram 3500 quad cab 2wd diesel 6 speed, it has the non flanged yoke and the double stepped down pinion shaft seal. Part number is 5015618AB from Dodge... Now the other seal (for the flanged yoke) is 5073944…

  6. I am going to try and get a thread going showing all the components on the truck that aren't part of the engine (since I know we have many diagrams throughout the site showing that). I will start with steering and add stuff as I think of it. Here are all the Steering and Suspension components. This is on a 1997 2500 2wd, I will get pics up of 4wd steering components when I get some. Thanks for the help AH64ID! I just got 4wd pics now but I guess there is a 10 pic limit so scroll down to my next post for them.

Its time for dash repair on my rust bucket. 2001 2500. LMC, Genos, Ebay, or Amazon? Whos fits best? Best made? Don't really care about color because I'll paint it. I'm really looking at the fiberglass one from Amazon. Some say fits good, others not so good but glass seems better than plastic to me. Don't know how to add a link so pic will have to do. Thanks for any advice you can give. Happy New Year everyone.

So I've started to notice that in the morning my truck has hard a little harder time starting. By harder time I mean, just cranks a little longer then it typically would. We haven't had to cold of mornings (high 30's low 40's) but it used to be 1 second or less and it'd fire up. This morning it was 3-4 seconds and then she fired up. I did just change some things with the Smarty so the battery was on for a little longer then normal before actually cranking but this isn't the first time it's happened. My driveway is at an incline so engine bay is slightly higher then the tank. So I'm wondering... Could it be batteries? Before starts my needle is juuuuust above t…

  11. I hate to admit it... I spent 700 on a set of Morimoto D2S HIDs. All I can say is these are top notch headlights compared to the sport headlights I just replaced. Now I didnt have to do all the heating and removal of the lens. I found a site called http://shop.retroshop.us that sells complete HID solutions fully assembled. All you got to is install and wire it up. They are even aimed and pretested before shipping.

  12. I have heard that 2nd gen steering components. Can be upgraded with 3rd or 4th gen parts. Anybody have any info to back that up. Heard you can get the whole assembly. From the dealer for about $300.

Hey guys looking to put new steering links on the truck. Ever since I put the DOR track bar on my stock steering linkage has really shown its wear. It'll pop while turning and you can easily turn them by hand. Looking to upgrade to the 09 kit, will this one work? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046NUOLM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also would it be worth upgrading the steering stabilizer? Or will that even work?

  15. Well everyone, wondered why my fuel level has been going down so fast lately. Got out of the truck only to see a puddle of fuel leaking on the driveway. Got underneath it and as best as I could find the return line to the top of the fuel tank/sending unit was loose. Went to a friendly garage and got the truck up in the air and confirmed it. We put a draw straw along with a Raptor 100 pump in about a year ago and its been running fine since that time. Now this happens and of course it has to be 108 degrees and humid out there this week, so getting under the puppy for hours at a time to get the sending unit out just is not going to happen, at least right now. My problem so …

  16. It's almost tire time again for me. I bought a set of BFG Rugged Trail E-rated 265/75/16s that I've been running for over 60K miles now and they've still got a little ways to go. The only issue is that my front end apparently went out of alignment and the toe-out ate up the insides of the front tires on the last 5K rotation.I've read TONS of information on tires and I'm always a function over form guy, which makes it hard to wade through the "they look cool" recommendations I always come across. I've considered a 255/85/16 because I like the tall, skinny (I have 4.10s) aspect. However, I've heard horror stories about getting a flat and not being able to find a replacement…

  17. Started by 02cumminsdude,

My headlights aren't quite cutting it for me anymore. I had a similar issue with my 2000 V10's headlights, they just don't put out much light. Our 05 Silverado low beams are equivilent to my trucks high beams, especially in the rain. I am planning on picking up some "smoked" housings to go along with my all black and white color scheme. I was wondering if the brightness problems lie solely on the bulbs used, or will an aftermarket light put out much better brightness? Link to kit I am looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/94-01-DODGE-RAM-SMOKED-LENS-HEADLIGHTS-LAMP-ASSEMBLY-96-/220806310939 If it is a bulb issue alone, I have no problem buying this kit and then swapping so…

Alright, so sometimes driving down the road, I will experience the truck drifting to one side or the other. It does not matter how fast or whether or not I'm accelerating, crusing or braking. I dunno if this is from loose steering tolerances or something else going on?I've had an alignment within the year and grease my components every oil change. Any ideas?

Just thought this might help someone when they decide to build their own bumpers. These were somewhat simple to build and didn't cost that much, mainly time. Main brackets that bolt to the frame are one piece and go all the way through bumper, that way you don't have to rely on how good your welder is. I ended up making main brackets out of 1/2" because that's what I had laying around. Front bumper is 1/4" except very bottom where its 3/16. Rear bumper is 4x8x1/4" tube. I don't have measurements, because I just built them as I went, most of it is eye baled and within 1/8" of side to side front to back. I didn't want winches permanently mounted anywhere that is why I put …
