I am installing new rotors on my truck, hopefully tomorrow. I have issues with rust and really fought getting my hub/rotors free from the truck. If I use anti seize on the 4 hub/bearing bolts, axle nut, and extension lug bolts, would that cause any issues or would I risk those bolts/nuts loosening over time? The FSM mentions using anti seize on the splines of the splines of the front drive shaft, but nothing else. Thanks for the help.

  2. Hey guys, a couple months ago I replaced my power steering system. Borgeson gear box, pump, shaft and hoses. Also installed a filter (yes it is flowing the correct direction). When I try to turn the wheels from a dead stop I can't turn the wheel either direction more than maybe a quarter turn before it locks up. As soon as I start moving it's like butter and while driving it's smooth. When I first bled the system I sucked air in and also ended up over filling the pump but now the fluid level is good and I re-bled the system so it shouldn't have any air in it. I just can't turn the wheel at a stop. Any ideas? The tires are only stock 265's so it's not like I'm trying to tu…

Ok gents I need to know what I'm looking at here. Every time I turn my wheel all the way left and left off the brake to start moving slowly I feel a bad vibration. I had a buddy follow along listening and it is coming from the rear end differential... i know my wheel can fly off so I parked it. I recently changed all fluids 75/90 royal purple. I want to know worse case scenario so I know to open her up or not.. I'm looking at getting layed off so I don't want to open a can of worms with my truck up in the air and not be able to move it . I am mechanically inclined but not with diffs.... thnx in advance fellas.

Guys, backed out of the drive today and realized that my dash lights were not on. I just hooked up my a pillar gauges over the weekend and all of the lights were fine, now they and all other dash lights are off. I have a backup camera in my truck and was messing with the wire taps in the fuse box in the cab, but I don't know if anything is related. Since I cant go out to the truck I figured I'd ask if anyone knows where the fuse may be, so I can run out a t lunch. BTW The radio , overhead display and I believe all other lights , pwr mirrors and mirrors were working on the way in. Thanks

Anyone else have the problem of getting the tailgate handle to release both latches at the same time? I have to manually flip the catch on the passenger side and then lift the handle to open the tailgate. No wear on the pivot points, plastic rod retainers not worn.

Pass. side tire is wearing on the outside. Actually both are but pass. side much worse. Wheel is centered and truck goes down the road straight. Didn't notice any worn or loose parts. Before I spend a day in the alignment shop I wanted to try myself but not sure which way to go?

I am doing caliper rebuilding and pad replacement on the front today. Do I need to bleed the rear during this process or is that area isolated from the front?

I got tired of my second failing Glowshift fuel pressure gauge and put in an ISSPRO EV-2 that matches my pyro. It's so nice to have a gauge that reads correctly that I can trust. I still have a liquid filled mechanical under the hood for back-up and this ISSPRO agrees with it 100%. Glowshift from new only read 5psi when the mechanical read 18psi . Did I mention I like ISSPRO?

I have been trying to figure out which shock will work for my truck and am not sure what to order for the front. I have a 2" leveling kit. I see that Rock Auto has 2"lift specified with Rancho's but it notes "dual" shocks. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Does anybody know what the stock wheel load rating is, for the rim? I ordered some after market wheels rated at 3,200 lbs per wheel and now I'm worried about them not being beefy enough. I'm mainly concerned about the integrity when the truck is loaded up/towing. They fit the bill when calculating GVWR per axle, but after doing some research on other after market rims they are in the 3,400-3,600 lb range. I'm just curious of what other people have run into...

I am in need of a new exhaust from the turbo back to the tail pipe. I have been looking online at exhaust kits that appear to assemble with clamps. Or I could spend a little extra money and pay a muffler shop to put on a custom exhaust with not need of a segmented system. Are the do it yourself kits worth it? I worry that they may be more prone to coming apart and creating more problems. I like the idea of having an exhaust that is welded together, however, I don't have access to one. I wouldn't mind putting it on myself especially if it saved me money, but I don't want to be doing this every other year. Thoughts/Recommendations?

I have the 2001 FSM but there are a few differences between my 1999 and what is listed in the book. I am trying to get my rotor off but I can't tell if the axle nut keeps this thing on or not. To get the rotor off, do I remove the axle nut? Looking at what I have that appears to be the answer, but I would rather not remove it if I don't have to.

  17. Hey y'all, I have been doing research into what to do about the steering issue on my truck. I have found the Y to T 98-99 Mod and another steering kit 7/8" with high misalignment spacers. My question is will either of/ or both of be an option for a 2wd? I see all pics of 4wd trucks using both setups. After all the reading I have done I lean towards the Ballistic Fabrication kit http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Steering-Kit-78-with-High-Misalignment-Spacers_p_1337.html I have been reading stories about MOOG not being so good these days so I am looking for the kit that will last and fit. I have also read about going to the 09-10 T set up instea…

I am embarrassed to show anyone what lurks under the hood of my truck. Have had a few suggestions, but think it would be good to get this out for everyone. Good products for soaking off grime and grease? I've heard that Simple Green works well (Jag1 says). Concerns about power washer use under the hood?

Once again I got that darn blasted ABS and BRAKE light again. I knew the driver side front sensor was repaired. What had happened was the outer jacket of the ABS split open after being flexed enough times that it broke. So the driver side was soldered and shrink wrapped and tapped up well. So I pull the driver side thinking it was damaged and unwrapped the repair and everything was fine. So I broke out a DVM and set it for ohm setting. Sure enough the driver side was right around 1,000 ohms. Hmmm... So quickly yanked the plug on the passenger side and ohm that lead. I got infinite ohms (open circuit). Now start from the sensor and right about the knuckle the jacket did th…

  20. The drivers side mirror is getting old and my attempts to tighten it up are not working (everytime I shut the door the mirror moves around) and its about time for a replacement. Anyone else done this and what years will fit a 2002 door? Any aftermarket recommendations? This is the "Towing style mirror" I am needing. Thx, FT
