So if you look in our books no where does it recommend 5w-40 but it also say 10w-30 if you are below about 32, and 15w-40 is not recommended below 5 degrees, so My question is this for a truck with higher milage that it always loaded day in and day out (no less than 500lbs in the bed ever) often pulling a trailer. The truck sees -30 to plus 45 during the winter months alone. What do I use I have been told all you can use in a 24valve 5.9 is 15w-40 but then have been told that I should run 5w-40 in winter but amsoil and dodge/cummins don't list that weight as recommended. What would you guys recommend? Sorry to beat a dead horse....

  2. We did it yesterday. Only lost one SS lock nut down between the coolers & the bumper.

Anyone else experience boost fluctuation with a smarty catcher level software tune while using cruise control? Saturday I was cruisin at 72mph and the boost gauge would bounce between 2 and 10psi. It was more gradual, like it would catch a gust of wind every 5 or 10 seconds. Made driving with the cruise annoying.

In my 01 Sport Cummins HO 6 speed 4x4, I have 3.55 gears, 295/70R18 tires, 4" full exhaust system (no muffler), stock HX35, AFE intake horn, older EJWA, S & B air filter setup, Industrial Injection HO VP, and Airdog 165 LP/filtration system, stock HO injectors. I do have DAP 100 HP injectors to put back into it when I receive them back from DAP. They are new but I sent them back and they found that two of them were at 302-303 bar instead of 310-312 bar, which was causing my idle to be a little bit lopey like a muscle car camshaft. In 6th gear on cruise control running 60 mph, my EGTs are running around 650 - 715. Is that normal or high? I don't…

Looking for some advice on which injectors to go. I currently have DAP 7.009 SAC (100hp) and was looking at going bigger to match the compound turbos I'll be putting in. I'm currently running a Borg Warner S475/92/1.10 over stock HX35 with the billet Wicked Wheel 2 compressor blade. I'll be doing light towing every once in a while ~6k lbs. Also switching up my setup from an EJWA to an Adrenaline so I know there's going to be a lot more fueling customization once I learn the unit. Anybody have any suggestions on a good clean burning injector that would match my setup?

  7. I'm planning to add an XZT+ before towing season. I really need to upgrade the lift pump before I get into towing again. So I'm weighing the options vs cost. I'd like to do this once... I'm not going racing but need to tow properly... can never be sure what that'll take until I've done it. Airdog vs Raptor?Should I go for the draw straw & big line?Russ

I recently received my new Quadzilla Adrenaline from DAP, and I’ve been doing a lot of reading on this site, watching videos on YouTube, and I downloaded the Excel tune builder and have been playing with that. I’m very excited to learn and to start tuning the truck. I’m coming from a 12 year old edge juice with attitude that stays on level 3 with the low boost fueling on 1 all the time. I have used the tune builder to build starting point tow and daily driver tunes based on my elevation and injector size. I know it is going to take some time with the truck and the load it will be carrying to get the tow tune dialed in right. My main question is, for the tow tune…

2001 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9 cummins diesel. I have code po501 and after thinking back this Code started right after I changed my tires from 31inches tall to 35inches tall. I did any way check ABS Sensor/Replaced anyway. VSS/Replaced it anyway. Apps sweep test, test perfectly Replaed it anyway. So I am back to It has to be a programming issue with the ecm/pcm. I had dealership inter in the correct tire size and set the RPM's @800. Gps we will say shows 71mph when the dash speedometer reads almost 69-70mph. Is there a different setting the dealership should be doing also?

  10. OKHey - sorry - I have posted 'similar' post before but keep going round in circles as I have no idea what I am talking about. Narrowed down to Edge Juice with Attitude -as it taps the Vp44 Pros - seems very responsive and powerfulCons - might blow my stocktransmission TS MVPProds - plug and play and up to 100HP [supposedly]Cons - if at 100HP could still do tranny damage - can I really get 100HP without tapping the VP44 Smarty Pros - good timing advance and good reviews - increase MPG ?Cons - will I feel it ? Will it give me extra MPG ? Doesn't Tap the VP44 thoughts/ratings ??then I need to BUY this thing !!! Any1 got any to sell second hand ?? thanks

After 16 years I think it’s time to breath some new life into the old Cummins and get it ready for the next milestone. And do it without spending a fortune On the real short list , like hopefully in the next few weeks I’ve decided to 1. Install RV 275 injectors ( I know a little late on the originals) 2. Quad XZT or edge Ez, I havnt decided yet, but with my mild tranny I got to take it easy. 3 finish the trans. Lock up switch Then on the long list which will just keep growing is 1 figure out if I want to spend the big bucks to rebuild 47re or just replace with a manual. 2. Exhaust brake ( I think I would be much happier with a manual …

  12. I have a new proto type with custom circuit boards so I don't have to worry about a big mess of wires and components moving around and causing problems. I can move on to working out more of the code. My tune tables need some work and I need to build an ECU to operate my guage cluster and OBD2 port. Got my transmission signal working pretty good. I need to make a TPS calibration routine. Here's a new video of it running.

About 2 years ago I bought a 1999 2500 with a 5.9L 24v Cummins. The PO claimed that he "had a tune put on it" but couldn't be more specific. It definitely makes more power and smoke than the similar stock trucks I've driven and there's no sign of any piggyback tuners on the truck so presumably he used a Smarty tuner or similar. The only other mod that I know of is the Airdog Raptor lift pump that I installed but with a little over 200k who knows what injectors are in it etc. I mostly use this truck as a road trip vehicle both for work and camping and it usually has a small (1800lb) pop-up truck camper on the back. This is a mountainous area with lots of long steep gr…

Looking for some of your opinions on matching injectors and turbo for moderate to heavy towing. I tow alot at 10-15k and occasionally 15-20k mostly hay and cattle. I have done a fair amount of research on this topic but haven't come to a decision yet. I've heard good things about the BW screaming eagle turbos. Im considering 100 hp dap injectors. I'm still running the stock turbo and injectors at 100k miles. I have to pull the ex manifold because the previous owner broke a drill bit off trying to install the pyro. Any opinions on a replacement manifold? 2001 6spd Thanks for your help/opinions

So I am finally going to drill and tap for a egt probe this week. My question is should I start the truck or just let er rip and use a pen magent after I get the hole drilled? Wouldn't running the truck suck the shavings instead of blowing them out the hole? Just wondering what's my best plan of action as to not cost myself more later? I don't want to take the turbo off because I am sure the bolts will be wonderful to take off.

  16. What I'm trying to find out if I produce kits of bulbs say like Exterior package of LEDs would you guys like to purchase a kits of LED bulbs for your trucks? Like for example the front switch back bulbs, rear tail light, LED backup lights, etc. I've just filed a application for becoming a vendor for LED products. I'm looking at expanding the store and adding more products. Now lets stay focused here on this thread with strictly LED lighting and I'll work with that for now. Like the external kit like... Red LED brake and turn signal bulbs Red LED cab brake bulbs White LED cargo light bulbs Front switch back bulbs -OR- front amber LED …

Anybody know how to check vp44 fuel pressure without a chip or monitor screen? Trying to troubleshoot my truck and need to check the fuel pressure.

  18. Started by LorenS,

Bought the used Adrenaline that was listed in the classifieds, and got my adapter from DAP. With the sub-par diagnostic procedures on Quad's website I am left with a paperweight. Any tips out there? The IQuadBT is not showing up as available in the app or to my phone's software. I have moved the jumper. It should have power and ignition on signal, and ground is straight to a clean battery terminal bolt. I have popped the hood and stood beside the BT to maximize signal. I have tried with the engine running and with just ignition on. Fuses all good, per ohm meter.

Just got my BHAF installed with the stock tube and a black outerwear. Holy hell, my turbo is screaming. Atleast my truck sounds fast now, hahaha. Couldn't use the filter minder due to a crack at the bottom. Guess I'll just leave it out for now and maybe pick a new one up later. So far very happy with it.Question though, the bolts sticking up through the fender for the stock air box, did most just leave those in place? I left them just in case I ever switch back and didnt really even look to see if they came out.
