ETA: Update in later posts. Edge not most likely culprit! ---Rant part.Well, Guys, I need to vent. And if you have any suggestions, I am interested, because as soon as they will cut me a check for their un-fixable product, I am going to go with something else. I have had it with Edge Products Juice CTS. I have had this chip for 6 months and it has never actually worked, its been through (from Edge) three Juice Modules, two CTS modules, a new wiring harness (complete) and its been RMA'ed back to edge once for them to work on it. They said that they found an issue with it, and that it should work and sent it back to me. It got back without the pressure transducer that …

I am looking at some wheel/tire combo's on Craigslist. Looking to go to 17" wheels for eventual 3rd gen brake conversion. Question in the short run is...can I use the spare off of my old 16" rims as long as I've not made the brake conversion? According to tire calculator there is a 1" difference between the same tire size from 16-17" rims. I don't have posi rear axle. I'm kinda cheap. Rebuilt my rears a year ago with new rotors. So I want to do the front conversion first. Is it ok to do the fronts now and rears at a later date? Some good deals on Craigslist for takeoff wheels and tires. Like $400 for tires with 75% tread. I paid $1,000 for my last set of tires al…

OK, I have all the bits together to install my 2nd hand Juice w Attitude. First step in the instructions is to disconnect the batteries (remove both neg terminals). I'm a bit spooked to do that - am I going to wipe out programs in my ECM/PCM? Will I have to reprogram the throttle position sensor? Will my auto trans start to do flaky things after I reconnect the batteries? Or will it be like most other vehicles, no big deal, no worries.Sorry for the stupid question, just want to be prepared. Thanks for your patience.Joe in St Louis

Well after doing some driving with the new pyrometer I feel like my EGTs are a bit higher than they should be. Accelerating to 65-70mph by the time I get there I am around 900+ easy. If I do the same going up hill then I can reach 1100+ which is what bothers me. Mind you this is completely empty. Is this normal?? I am not lasting through the gears, I shift around 16-2000rpms depending on grade of hill. Anyways what do you guys think?

  7. Hello everyone,, So I've been toying with the idea of getting a 5.9L for a while. My preference is to get something prior to 2003, simply because I like the body style. The tradeoff, however, is most of these trucks are well into the 200k range. One I am looking at in particular has 278xxx on the odometer, with a tranny rebuild at approximately 275k. I know that the Cummins is the "million mile motor," but is it a risky proposition to jump in at almost 300k? Would I be better off saving my pennies for a truck with lower miles? Thanks!!!

Im pretty new to diesels and this will be my 1st winter with one. Last year my transmission was down and then I shipped out to basic. Question 1:I have weak batteries (I need to replace them, but Christmas is making that tough) and I am wondering what all is going on when the "wait to start" light is on. I know the grid heater is one, but what else? What would happen if I just jumped in my truck and started it like a gas engine? The reason I as I am trying to save power for the starter when its cold.Question 2:When, and for how long should the block heater be plugged in before you start? What would I risk if I left the block heater plugged in all the time? High power bill…

  9. Very annoying if I'm parked on a hill, the truck won't move at all. Tried all kinds of reset moves I've found online, and changed the fuel filter. It's been hot here lately and I've noticed my glow plug light is briefer than typical - I can't get the rpm's above 21-2400 until several minutes go by, then a big puff of smoke and I have power. Anybody have any ideas?

  10. Several months ago I had the P122 with a cel. As it progressed I started experiencing engine surging. At first only 1, 2, maybe 3% as shown on my scan gauge. I lived with for a little while until I had a chance to try and diagnose it some. Some of you might know how much I enjoy diagnosing electrical problems and for any who does not I think I would rather have a root canal done. Any way I had pretty much determined that it was a bad apps sensor. I had a Timbo on the truck and was not completly convinced that it was bad. So I googled "apps/tps sensor and found a boat load on ebay for any where between $12 and $90. They all had the same picture and I ended up buying one fo…

My fuel pressure has been doing weird things. Running 8psi cold (42*) and gradually gets higher as outside temp and engine temps come up. But overall it's been falling. Running 15psi warm. I kicked up the pressure to 15 cold and now goes up to 22psi warm. A better range. But a month ago it was low consistent and I raised it back up. Sound like a raptor issue? I also have a vibration/buzz coming through my cab gauge. Isspro with snubber from vulcan. It quiets down if I pull it out a half inch or so. The gauge has a vibration that you can feel if you pull it clear out of the pillar. I don't have a test gauge. I'll check with a few locals to see if they have one.

Hey guys last month my fiancé and I had a gender reveal for our little girl we are having in August. We thought a burn out in my truck would be a cool idea for revealing the sex of the baby, I did a hand full of practice runs and on the 2nd and 3rd practice runs my truck would die when I got off the gas. I had to crack 3 injectors lines and reprime the fuel lines. Then it fires back up. It also happened when we did the burn out for the gender reveal and also happened when racing a Duramax, it took him quiet a while to catch back up but he also got to tow me home. Any ideas on why I would lose fuel pressure like that? I didn’t think with my upgrades I would out run the sto…

Finally got my EV mechanical gauges from DAP and need some help. This is my first gauge install and I'm not great with wiring. How do you bleed the air out of the fuel line going from the needle valve to the gauge? FYI, I'm skipping the isolator and just running fuel in the cab.

Did some turbo swapping on the '96. Went from the older 8 blade HX35 to the HY35-D found on 03-04 dodges. To make the swap easy, I used a HY35 turbine housing off a 2nd gen. This turbo is a 56/58/9W instead of the HX35's 56/60/12WD. I expected faster spooling, and possibly a less restrictive top end... I was wrong. The top end pulls a little harder and spooling is amazing, but down low just doesn't cut it. Here are the runs: RPM, Here you can see the HX35 took off much faster. Pressures, Again, spool-up on the HY was noticeably slower, but the top end did well. 60psi Drive pressure all the way to 3400RPM. For…

Hi everyone, I have read alot of posts here and on CF trying to put together the "best" mods to my truck that I think fit my needs. Before I pull the trigger I want to run it by you and make sure I am headed in the right direction. My truck is a 2000 3500 Dually two wheel drive with an automatic tranny. It has 173,xxx miles on it. Previous owner put 65 horse injectors in it, plugged the wastegate, K&N air filter, 4 inch exhaust turbo back, and a new stock lift pump. I've read these trucks will go for 700,000 + and I'm going to have to try because I can't afford a newer model! Besides the occasional trip around town I put a 4K pound Lance 11'6" truck bed camper in t…

I am trying to get my tune right for my new injectors. I got some 7x9s(100hp) that we put in yesterday. I had my quad set to start at about 74% fueling. That was too low. Well long story short I got it at 100% starting and it don't smoke or haze much at all. Call me crazy but shouldn't they be a little smokey at 100%???

  17. Started by jag,

Is there any way of keeping the stock timing on the Quad? I am having trouble with timing settings & it pulling my engine down. I have tried quite a few different timing settings & I'm getting the same results. Not worried about fueling right now until I get this figured out. With the Quad on 0 trucking runs smooth & zippy. As soon as I go to 3, it pulls the truck down noticeably by listening to engine sound change. It sounds like it's being put under load. This does not happen at idle. It also makes the truck very sluggish.

I'm just thinking how ironic we go to all the trouble of building Cold Air Intakes... and then plug the engines in in winter! I'm thinking that maybe the warm under hood air might be better for the engine in cold weather. (Faster warm up, less rich cold time.) I want to build a new grill block out instead of the bad idea cardboard I used to use. Russ

  19. So the beast is up and running like never before! This truck is very lively now..but I need some direction. I have many years in tuning and building imports, both NA and turbo applications, but wrapping my mind around the best way to run a diesel is proving to be a challenge. Right now I’m running a pretty tight wastegate. I’m at or near max boost without wiretap. With the quad on level 0 it’s running about 30psi with the TC unlocked and about 35psi locked. On level 3 it’s about 33psi unlocked and 38psi locked. I’m limited to about 40-45psi with the K27, which builds boost so fast off idle it’s hard to tune for smoke...there is almost never any to tune off of! …
