i was changing my oil today and when i took out the bhaf and intake pipe i saw some oil on the fender well. it is apparently coming out of a hose with a funny cap on it. it sits about 4" in front of the pcm under the bhaf. the hose runs from the fender well to something on the front axle, passenger side. i am not familiar with this at all. there is not alot of fluid on the fender well and it is cover with dust so whatever is coming out of it is doing it slowly. seemed to be spread out to much for gear oil, but then again i dont know what i am dealing with. Can someone please enlighten me.i also heard what i think was the belt tensioner pulley starting to squeal. after it …

So i have everything wired up, gauge, amplifier, probe. The only thing I have left is literally the power and ground. I spliced my power for all my gauges into the dimmer switch, but what have you guys spliced in for power for the actual pyrometer? I ran out of time yesterday and literally I was at the point of "eeny meeny miney mo." Any ideas that is a good 12v key source and not hard to get to?

I need 4 new ball joints and 4 new tie rod ends at 65,000 miles. About 20,000 miles is carrying a 3,000 lb camper on the back. Could that do it? It's unbelievable to me too.Anyone ever heard of that before?

Those of you with compound turbos, what are you seeing for exhaust temperature at full throttle? At what point do you stop adding fuel and just accept the fact that you are out of air? Not concerned about drive pressure or turbo sizes at the moment, just exhaust temperature. For example, With DAP 7x.013 VCO nozzles set to pop around 315 Bar, with Max canbus fuel command and 1200us of wiretap, I'm seeing a peak of about 1355°F EGT at just over 60 psi. Without the wiretap, It's less than 1200° at 50 psi or so. Is it worth adding a little more wiretap?

I'm getting ready for a 5200+ mile trip and with just over 100K miles on the clock I've been thinking about replacing my injectors when I do the valve adjustment before I go. I was looking at Bosch 275's when I came across these on E-bay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Dodge-Cummins-RV275-Performance-Injectors-for-98-5-02-24-VALVE-5-9L/161397044745?hash=item2594037609:g:KBQAAOSwxH1T8Kjl&vxp=mtr They're made/supplied by Sundieselsystems http://sundieselsystems.com/performance-products/performance-injectors/ Has anyone had any experience with this brand of injectors?

This past weekend was the first camping trip of the season... and first hauling since a lot work was done over the winter. First thing.. With new track bar and Redhead.. It was such a pleasure to not have 2 inches of play in the steering wheel while pulling the camper! Secondly, the deep trans pan and gauge is a nice addition. Although I have no idea what the temp was before.. the temp never rose above 135 towing and it's nice to be able to monitor it. Third.. I am finding this Smarty to be an improvement for my application over the Edge Comp Drag. Where I could easily/quickly see high boost and EGT temps with the Edge last year... not…

I have a 99 quad cab 4x4 short box. New Michelin's going on next week and an alignment as well. The front end is tight and no abnormal wear in the usual places. I don't drive it much and try to stay on top of repairs and maintenance I have had it lined up in the past and that lower control arm adjustment bolt was never touched. The bolt was seized. Easy enough fix. I used a zip saw and cut the bolt out and then drove the center out. Replaced with factory parts. My question is...I thought there was a discussion on adjusting this to push the housing forward on the bottom for better handling. I looked but can't find that info again. …

Well, after a lot of reading and a conversation with Mike, more timing should lower EGT and engine load, however when I added timing my load and EGTs went up. Before I got to the numbers he thought would work, engine started to buck, sign of over advance. When I backed off the timing both across the RPM band and cruise things got better. This led me to a thread Mike wrote about in the winter he pulled timing out due to higher cetane numbers in winter fuel. This makes sense, but got me thinking about the fuel our trucks were designed to run with, which was not ultra low sulfer biodiesel fuel, so I started digging. Per NDSU AE 1240 No. 2 diesel fuel u…

Trying to get a full grasp on the quadzilla before my new injectors get here so I get it set up perfect when I get um in. I can't figure out the Max load offset. Should it lower the timing as I give it fuel based on throttle position? I looked back at my logs and when I get above my set load precent it's does drop 2 degrees below my cruise timing but starts to rise pretty quick. Is this how it's supposed to work? Also if I want it to build boost faster should I set my low psi reduct to 5. It's at 4 right now. Thanks for any help!

hey guys and gals, im sure this topic has been beaten to death on here but i have been debating on this 5th gear nut fix for some time that fithgearrepair.com offers. I have right around 286,xxx on my nv4500 and i installed a new clutch at 160,xxx only cause the release bearing was shot, my fault really, i catch myself rollin down the road with my foot resting on the clutch pedal . With that said, i pull my 21ft nash bumper pull all over the western states and rarely pull in 5th unless i'm on a nice straight stretch going across nevada. There are a lot of claims that if your retaining nut hasn't slipped off yet, it will. ultimatly loosing 5th gear. Would it be wise as a …

Good afternoon everyone, forum newbie here. Looking for help with an issue on my 2001 5.9 Automatic. I've owned this truck for a couple of years now and had various issues fixed. But one that I can not get fixed is a complete lack of power towing. I have a 27ft 5th wheel thats only ~8000 Lbs. The truck alone with me and my passengers / family weighs 7980. So, I'm just around 16,000. Going down the highway, especially starting up any grades I rapidly loose speed. I've towed as long as I have been driving with other rigs and know that when you loose momentum its likely not coming back. But to the point... Even on flat ground or a 1% grade, around 65MPH, my choic…

Bought new in 1998, been tweaking ever since. Engine rebuilt for it's 20th birthday in November 2019. Dyno runs with a Smarty/TST stack June 2020, with 596hp/1150tq. Been lurking and have multiple pages of notes from this site and others, have done several tunes. I'm an ex-sportscar racer and we would do practice runs the 1st day, email every run to our Motec guy, and would re-load before every session to dial in the cars. Decided that was what I was after for my truck, and found TJ at OneBadVP44Performance. Flew him in, spent 2 hours on the dyno. His initial tune from my build sheet was 12 hp off what got for max. 683hp/1311tq. The way I saw this was I've spe…

Can someone explain to me what P0521- Engine oil pressure sensor performance, means in english? As I was leaving work today My check gauges light came on and I had no oil pressure according to the gauge. I pulled over as fast as I could and shut the truck off, after restarting it I had normal oil pressure again, and it was fine the entire way home.
