Just thought I'd share why I'm scared of the DEF and NOx nightmare that EPA10 and newer diesel engines are plagued with. This isn't the first SCR failure I've seen and I'm sure it won't be the last. Anyway truck came in severely derated doing the "5 mph crawl of shame". DDDL8 revealed active SPN 3364 FMI 0 and SPN 3364 FMI 17 faults which equate to the ACM saying the truck has "poor DEF quality" due to low NOx conversion efficiency. A check of DEF concentration with a refractometer showed 32.5% which is exactly what is needed. I then checked DEF dosing quantity which again was perfect at 4.5 ounces using the specific DDDL8 test. I then did a parked…

Anyone else cure their own meat? I’ve been making my own game sausage the last couple years, but never any curing. I thought I’d give curing a try. I just started last month with bacon. Man it is delicious! We ended up with about 8lbs from a pork belly. 2/3 was applewood smoke and the last slab was peppered and applewood smoked. I went to lunch today and had a tri-tip pastrami sandwich... so now I have a slab of tri-tip curing in the fridge.

  6. Hello Guys, Pepsi here with another thorough article. I have grabbed this information from over a dozen threads and posts across about 6 websites. I'm going to write this up, and surmised it where applicable to try and make sense of this. Hopefully you guys will learn something from this. And as usual if you guys have something to add fell free to tell me so I can add it in. PEPSI'S NOTES: This can apply loosely to the 46re/rh series, and the early 48re series that are not actuator controlled. if you have an APPS sensor and a TV cable on your 48re then you can use this to follow loosely. However 48re line pressures are generally higher on the…

I got a PM from @W-T this evening asking me to give him a call. Sad to say that he's lost his home and belongings. He's still got his truck. He wants to let me know as well all of you that his alive and doing well. The fire and its complex nature its created is preventing him from being active on the website at this time. Like I told him we'll keep the light on for him and wait for him to return.

Now i usually get what ever is on sale, with a preference for Valvoline, but i run Travellers from tractor supply as well. on Friday i found some Mobil Delvac that is the good ol CI4+. and even found it locally. i'll be sending off a sample for a VOA, then changing oil in the 08 in a few weeks. i'm liking the idea of a CI4+ and not a CK oil. https://www.mobil.com/en/mobil-delvac/products/engine-oils/mobil-delvac/mobil-delvac-mx-f2 and for around $12 ish dollars a gallon, it's a great alternative i would think.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I come to this site, it makes the sound of a chainsaw revving up. It only lasts for 2-3 seconds, I thought it was an advertisement but I have yet to see anything.

Hopefully you all have been paying attention to the town of Paradise in CA which burned up in whats called the Camp Fire... Worst fire in CA history. Its been said that 90% or more of the entire city/area was destroyed. The news is reporting the death toll at almost 50 people, but those who are helping who know law enforcement have said that the media isnt revealing the true devastation as the death toll is supposed to be over 1000. One house was found with 30 some people huddled in the basement who didnt make it out... The community was full of retired elderly who werent able to escape and the road in and out didnt allow people to escape with their vehicles which ha…

Seeing the truck in this video takes me back. The truck in the video is just a bit older than me but is a spitting image of an old KW my grandfather owned and was one of my all-time favorite trucks. The Cat 3408 was the king of the road back in it's day and gave the meaning of "if it ain't a Cat, it's a dog"... just hope there is a fuel station at the top of the hill as if you're lucky 3.5 mpg with a tail wind was tops for fuel mileage. My second favorite was a 68 Mack that we transplanted a 2 stroke Detroit 8V92 into, it would get a tad over 4 mpg.

Hey Gang... I got a call from a fellow forum member @towhungerford that is serving time in prison. He called asking for a favor. All he's asking for is reading material. Catalogs, magazines, anything to past the time with. He enjoys reading Dodge Diesel stuff (VP44 stuff) and Ford Diesel stuff. If you know of free catalogs and magazines he would sure enjoy the reading material. Tim Hungerford BDCC 1455 Bravo Blvd Minden, LA 71055 Help a fellow diesel nut make it through the time he has to serve... Do list what your sending so other members don't repeat the same thing please...

Before any takes this the wrong way its meant as a joke in my title. I know the gent I was talking to will know... Storyline... MoparMom and I show up to the DaVita Dialysis center in Ontario, OR. I press the buzzer and the nurse came to the door saying, "We are just a bit behind schedule it will be a few minutes." Mom and I go to the waiting area and sit down. In comes a gentleman and come in and sits down beside me and says, "I'm not a stalker, but I do know who you are Mopar1973Man." So, he continues to tell me that he's been watching the forum and knew about Mom's dialysis treatments. He started asking me about truck information. This gentleman happened t…

Bored at work, here goes. A young man I watch on youtube is having a giveaway, winner has there choice between 2 trucks. I entered because it's fun to play and the merch he sells is of good quality so I have no regrets regardless of the outcome. #1. 1991 W250, standard cab long box. Just replaced the motor and added an OEM intercooler setup, 5spd, other wise stock mechanically. Body is in great shape, paint as well, no rust. He updated the springs and added a leveling kit and the usual 20" wheels and MT tires. The OEM wheels will be supplied if the winner so chooses. Interior is pretty good, no tears or cracks but does need a few misc. bits, has PW, …

We are getting a ton of rain. It's cool cause we got over 2 inches night before last, Last night hugh rain drops woke me up this morning. I can't say how much though because I let my redneck rain gauge get full, which is a plastic bowl. I'm going to have to buy a real rain gauge or maybe a little weather monitor. Yesterday while getting my truck work finished up we had a thunderstorm pass right over us it's cool to finally see some real weather.
