I got some things going one with my leg which hurts like you wouldn't believe. I have a seriously swollen leg from varicose veins and a hip acting up for the first time ever. It's bad enough that I'm goin to the doc for the third time tomorrow. To top that off there is some sciatica in the same leg. It's like an army of hurt even down into my foot. At first we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Tonight is the first time in weeks that it isn't hurting when sitting down. I even got some sleep a little bit ago. God is good to teach me how to treat myself by massaging the sciatica away. It like you find this button and push that area and the pain goes away. It is like Magic sometimes. Other times to no avail the only relief is to go out and ride my bicycle even at midnite with all the lights on outside. Back in bed and all hell breaks loose with pain. Pray for me all you Truck Mugs. I know it will help I know it willl help and the Doc too, to know what to do. Thanks everyone.

Thanks Mike and I do.  But as you more than likely may know sometimes it takes an effort to do that.  Was diagnosed with Crohns about 2 weeks ago and then it's like OK when is the next good news going to show up.  Takes some to get over that when for 5 years there is some good news but not really great like no more sickness anywhere.  Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much.  Not happy about it but it is the path for whatever reason God has put me on.  I will walk it with faith.

Dripley too ...... you got to quit smoking Bud. Got so bad for me I had to quit. I just couldn't breath. Had to take a nap/ recuperate everytime I smoked. I felt like I was dieing. I got a garage sale bicycle and put good gears, good grips, good handlebar and seat. I could not believe how one day I got to feeling so much better. What I did was ride that Bike everytime I wanted to smoke. I persevered, made the decision to just suffer and never smoke again.

I must say now that it's been a few years, still riding the bike, there are times when my whole body feels oxygenated. It's wonderful to feel so good. Now the bicycle is my smoke and I'm many times stronger.

Please quit Dave you deserve a good retirement

Sorry to hear about everyone's troubles. Yes life is like a box of chocolates for sure, just never know what's next. I like all the good spirited people here that don't give up, if you start to give up that's when it goes downhill. Need something to look forward to to keep us all going, whether it's family, hobbies, or even working on our trucks. It seems to me that what's happening in the world right now was pretty much planned to take out weakest first, then work up the ladder. A lot of us survive on hopes and dreams and when we are limited in what we can do/plan, it starts to take its toll. Stay strong everyone, never give up. :burnout:

Work just wont get out of the way. Been reading over this and it just confirms something I have told my kids thru their journey thru life. No matter how it seems you can always someone who has it worse than you. So dont pity yourself. Just get up and move on. I still believe this is true but the older I and all of us get it does seem a bit harder find.

@Russ Roth I am sad for your problems and would offer a visit but I believe geography is my worst enemy. I wish you well. I really enjoyed the conversation we had a while back on your Viet Nam experiences. My older brother was a Medic like you and you and him chewed alot of same dirt in the Pleiku area. His joint problems pale with yours but I am proud to know you both.

@JAG1 Smoking is a tough one to drop. Back in my younger years we were hard partiers. Messed with a lot of stuff we probably should not have. But tired of it and just put it down and moved on. Seems the smoking is the hard one for me. Wish you the best in overcoming the ones you are dealing with now.

@Mopar1970man I pray your cancer never comes back and your other issues find cures.

And to all those I have missed, I wish you all the best. Being a member here with all the comradery about our trucks we seem to find a way to know one another a bit. Good life and the best of health to all.

Dave

Thanks Dripley.  Always wishing you and all others on here the very best.  Will say prayers for you to help stop the smoking.  Nasty unhealthful habit as I am sure you already know.

I know that feel all so well. It seem like your just a kid a just a few years ago. All you wanted to do is grow up so you could drive, drink, etc. Now you past that markers and it seem like time flies by now at super sonic speed. Hard for me to believe I made to 50 years old. Week blow on by and I'm here going it Friday I can do... OPPS! Actually is Saturday and it closed.

I find that it's so important to have a project that motivates you into a steam engine. A goal you get real excited about, sometimes I wish I had no garage like Drpley so I could turn into a garage building monster. Always liked that feeling of nothing can stop you from getting it done. Those were my best times building my home and my garage and then quitting the smokes. :thumbup2:

That would make my wife VERY happy!  Hope to work on some of that today while it rains a whole bunch.

How about yesterday. I dove in and changed an entire 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 steering column, converted from standard steering to the highline with stereo controls. Even got the clock spring changed over without breaking it from one wheel to another. That has to swap because the wiring is different from the standard to the highline series. In a mere 2 hours I changed out my landlord steering assembly and had it all changed over with a newer steering wheel, all the controls, and less one bad steering shaft bearing.

Today I get to play with a Ford 7.3L diesel and my truck with steering issues.

Well I dont have one but i will when I retire. Building some things like that around here for us will be therapeutic for me.

@dripley you've been in construction for years and will always love to build things. Like myself I've been turning wrenches since I was 14 years old. It when I get free time to work at my own pace and the project I want to do are the most fun. Not looking forward to power steering pump but oh well. It the fact I can turn wrenches on my own truck and enjoy my day. Now the twist in all this is Jacob (Eileen's Son) which is highly interested in mechanic work too. So I've got a apprentice to follow me around and willing to turn wrenches for me. This why the injector job on his 7.3L Ford truck. Doing on the low budget method of pull and clean injectors and reseal them. Going to be fun pulling the 7.3L injectors for the first time. Nope never done injectors on a Ford 7.3L yet. At the same time do the grow plugs too.

Kind of like that... @dripleyit doesn't matter what your building or what challenges await you it the fact of the challenge that keeps you going. I'll still admit there is some things I've never done before, willing to tell a customer even too. Then go out and find that it wasn't so bad. Still get the job done. So for you I don't think you ever get that out of you after all these years. You'll still want to build or make something better around you in the method you know best. Construction... :thumbup2:

Mopar1973Man, I didn't know a Ford 7.3 has ''grow plugs'' wonder what's in your garden :lol3:

If someone really want to be a garage building monster I will donate the land in which to build it on. I have plenty or room in my yard for one.

I need to be the garage cleaning monster you mention. Mine is a disaster right now. To much stuff in there. I need to move the riding mowers to the pole barn for the winter so I have some room to work on things.

Haven't been able to get much done the past 4 days, been home from work with a torn meniscus, trying to nurse that back to health to return to work.

I have an uncle now in the hospital with covid so now I am concerned about him as well. And today my youngest son (30 yrs old) is getting married. Been laid up but still have things going on everywhere. Geesh
