  1. One of the few reasons I don't use grease on mine. No need to cover them up and it never gets on you.
  2. As stated by ASTM testing labs in their report...
  3. #1 Diesel is closer to the kerosene family also higher in cetane and lower in BTU's. Most have noticed the engine noise is much greater. #2 Diesel is typically what most get. BioDiesel all I can say is be careful. Biodiesel is not like diesel when it gels. The animal/veggie fats can separate from the petroleum product and settle to the bottom. Then dealing with that typically most anti-gel products don't work on animal/veggie fats but petroleum paraffin wax.
  4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C3%A4rtsil%C3%A4-Sulzer_RTA96-C From what I've been told these engine run on some pretty thick liquid tar. Very very low cetane but lots of BTU pushing power. Redline at 22-102 RPM
  5. You smacked the "like this" button and not the post button... So that's what you got for a converted fire place eh? Later on I shoot a picture of the guess house stove setup.
  6. I know that feeling but in reverse I've got a fire truck you can hop into the seat and be going to a fire and have the air valve leak and sink you to the floor like Grandma...
  7. Any oil is lower in cetane and higher in BTUs... So typically there is a slight gain to MPG's most report about 1-2 MPG gain.
  8. I've got both kind of weather. Freezing minus temperatures and frying summer heat in the 110-115*F range. I would suggest aiding the heat if a notice in MPG is reduced.
  9. I would also throw a test gauge on it as well just to verify the pressure. I would follow Russ though.
  10. Actually put mine on the 96 gasser and pulled the cold air tube from the Air Filter.
  11. Any 6.7L Cummins should offer a 200*F thermostat.
  12. Clean the terminals. Then coat both terminals with engine oil and assemble and tighten. Also remember to reapply the oil at every oil change. No need to remove the terminal but to be sure there is engine oil on all surfaces.
  13. I need to get a special fuse for my Fluke meter to measure Amps. I blew it out years ago... (D'Oh!)
  14. If I remember right its suppose to be 50mA with the 24V electronics. Your seeing 500mA draw which is ten times more.
  15. Interesting job.
  16. I'm just curious about the temperature performance of the thermostat. If diesel prices wasn't so high I would be getting a 200*F and dropping it in and driving the diesel but I'm stuck driving the 96 gasser... (Cry)
  17. Still running the 235/85 R16 on both trucks and having zero issues. On rotation I typically just do front to rear. The only time I criss-crossed was if I was wearing rather strangely on the edges then I try criss-crossing to see if it corrects the issue. But I'll warn you most times you criss cross you'll notice the control and ride suffer till the tire wear back in again.
  18. If you want to quit cleaning terminals just cover the terminals in engine oil and you'll never clean them again.
  19. No assistant... Crack the bleed screw open. Hook up the tube. Jump in the driver seat start slowly pumping the brakes. The tubing is long enough and also the fluid in the jar prevents sucking air back into the system so you can typically pump about 5 times a wheel to clear air. I find way of doing things by myself...
  20. Removing the batteries will not hurt the truck. But I would check the batteries often while on the trickle charger. I typically check the batteries on the vehicles, house and RV about once a month to insure none of the cell go dry while charging. If they do go dry the cell is permanently damaged.
  21. Keep us posted on your results...
  22. In all these years all I use is a Mayo Jar and a piece of tubing... Cheap and it works just fine.
  23. Yeah... Sad but true the free version of chat is only 5 people. I was shocked at how often the chat room exceeded the 5 people limit. WOW! http://www.invisionpower.com/apps/chat/
