  1. Matter of fact. MoparMom sent me to town for a jug of milk I opted to pull the beast out of the shop and drive the diesel once again. Oh Man is that a rush to hop in and have 5x3 for power vs. the little 96 Dodge. As doe the MPG battle for the OP. Might double check other factors like dragging brakes or low tire pressures too. That will pull MPG's down too.
  2. 5x5 was for a long time with the RV275's injectors and now with the +50 Vulcan Injectors I had to tapper down to 5x3 for smoke control.
  3. Congrads on the 200k milestone. My 02 is still parked and not moving. But now the 96 is creeping its way towards 160k...
  4. Rockauto.Com does. I bought the calliper seals, weather boots and slide pin boots for cheap.
  5. Something to think about. Cmg = Current MPG for the day. I tune more for MPG numbers than HP/TQ...
  6. I'm also a dual piston calliper.
  7. Here is the rotational mass information about over sized tires. The Effects of Rotational Inertia on Automotive Acceleration This is one reason I went from 265's down to 235's. Looks don't mean anything but MPG's means more. Weight difference from a 265's to 235's is roughly 23 pounds per tire.
  8. It goes on the directional door for vents after the blend door.
  9. NAPA - WH6820 approximately $8 to $10 bucks for the needle valve. The tubing is Air Brake line rated for 600-800 PSI burst strength I doubt it will burst and leak in the cab. Question why is it that every panics about a fuel pressure gauge be isolated but doesn't think anything about running engine oil pressure into the cab with over 80 PSI in the tube?
  10. Kind like myself. I usually look forward to the winter time because the heavy duty work is over and I can stay home more. Then this winter there isn't any snow really to speak off here. So my daily activity of shoveling snow and plowing driveways is no happening so I'm getting lazy and sore. So to make up for this I've been out splitting firewood to stay active. I gotta admit it sure does help in keeping you going feeling better and not as sore feeling.
  11. That's the best idea right there is for two members to get together and compare truck and maybe help each other out on this issue.
  12. Rent the Smarty. Plug in set a tune of any level. Take a ride out and play a bit. Maybe even try another level. Then return to stock settings. Then verify the high idle is actually enabled. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/64-mopar1973man-com-high-idle-kit/438-high-idle-detecting-if-the-ecm-has-been-enabled-for-high-idle-2 Then you should be done...
  13. Need to adjust the switch when you install it for proper position.
  14. Highly suggest yo go over to Tractor Farm and Family and talk to Randy the Admin over there. He's also a bee keeper and could help you out a bunch on getting started.
  15. No loss here. My truck been parked for 2 months now head into 3 months. As for the cold air denser rule after doing the calculations at 10*F vs. 100*F weather there is a increase of about 6 MPH at 70 MPH so if your travelling 70 MPH it more like 76 MPH with wind drag. At 55 MPH is more like 59 MPH (+4 MPH). So you might have to cut back a extra 5-10 MPH on speed to get back to normal wind drags. Winterized fuels are typically higher in cetane and lower in BTU content. Since both of you tow trailers the length of vehicle also plays into the figures. Like even my low slung BigTex 70TV still pulls me down from 21-22 to 16-17 MPG empty or load doesn't matter.
  16. Time to ditch the gauge isolator. 99% of all gauge or low fuel pressure problems stem back to a isolator issues.
  17. Batteries need to be load tested. Starter needs to be pulled and check for contact wear and brush wear. Need to do a voltage drop test on the battery cables. Then double check the fuel system isn't losing prime and filling with air.
  18. What was your IAT temp? If you don't know what was the temperature outside during this time?
  19. I've also seen those kind of weird swings here in Idaho go from 85-90*F weather fighting forest fires to 32-35*F and watching it snow on your fire make you really wonder.
  20. So for with the RV275's and +50HP injectors you can make some seriously good MPG's. Nice power increase without being too wild and smoky.
  21. If I remember right I think its just 2 bolts. You should be able to pull the unit back to change the one gasket.
  22. I tend to think the same thing I would look at the solenoid and see if its sticking.
  23. Alarms and limits of the Edge unit are just a big PITA. I typically suggest to most to turn all that stuff off to prevent problems.
  24. Hey Gang you might want to check over at Diesel Truck Site for there Harbor Freight Tool contest. http://www.dieseltrucksite.com/showthread.php?t=961
  25. Yes. Slide the white collar up as tight as possible and then lightly twist the line back and forth. The rubber o-ring will tend to stick in place and need a bit of twisting action to get them started sometimes.
