  1. Right on... You sound like you could be my twin...
  2. Shoot if I was paying attention... I would been able to point you to... http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/3rdgen/fca/fca.htm
  3. Thanx White I can use that adjustment on Mom's 96 Dodge Gasser... I always wanted to check that...
  4. Well white is right is "should" be change everytime but I've managed to re-use mine a few times now with no problems. The copper washer is a multi-purpose piece... 1. Adjusts spray angle height.2. Conducts heat away from the injector into the water jacket.3. Seal for the compression gasses. So after using them a few times it might crush a bit changing angles and sealing abilities...
  5. Check for error codes (P0230) Lift pump out of range... Ok... The trigger power for the Raptor is straight from the ECM there is no other relay or fuse... Beyond that Raptor should have its own fuse and relay. Check for power when the key is bumpped. If there is no power at the Yellow/White (YL/WT) wire at the ECM then the ECM is toast. As for the fuel pump relay in the PDC thats the relay for the injection pump...
  6. Well I'm right behind you... at 40 now...
  7. Too aggressive of a box for daily driving. I ran into a guy in Boise, ID while I was getting my windows tinted and ask him about his truck and he toook me for a ride... Right about one thing it will make your truck rip... But its very hard to drive without being too aggressive...
  8. Some of my information is from watching the SGII under different road speeds on the same roads, weather factors, and everything else... I tend to agree with ISX speed is the number one killer of MPG's...
  9. Error code management is handled by a trip counter and a warmup cycle counter. Bit more information... http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/obd2-error-codes/obd2-error-codes.htm
  10. I tend to agree with Russ on this... The only way I could see running duals still would be make a fully stand-alone system. [*]Separate batteries [*]Seperate voltage regulator Because Russ has a valid point you won't be able to tie a second alternator to the existing PCM without causing problems. But still in all even with all the fire truck I worked on I've never seen a dual alternator setup for even some of the big rigs we had... All of them still managed just fine with 100-120 Amp alternators... The only thing we did to keep the batteries up was high idle the engine at 1,000-1,200 and never had a problem...
  11. I would say then just a stock SO VP44 pump... (Generic)
  12. May I ask what kind of load are you putting on the electrical system that 120 Amp alternator can hold? When I worked Salmon River Rural Fire Dept I would have all the light going including my overhead and just set the high idle and it could sit there and purr for hours without a problem...
  13. Central Timer Controller or (CTC) CTC deals with wipers, alarm, remote functions, heated seats, etc... Most all the interior functions are controlled by the CTC.
  14. What I found is the sweet spot for me is right between 1,500-2,000 RPM's but limit the speed to a max of 60 MPH...
  15. There was a guy that managed to tap into the Cummins ECM with a program called ROMRaider and this is one of the few pieces of information I captured before his site went down.
  16. Might check for error code not all errors will trip the Light...
  17. Ummm... No I wouldn't go that far... I've sat down and learned from trial and error and from the other members too... Like this video I created because of ISX bugging me... http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=YREpPrMxkHU
  18. That is a mystery I can't answer between the 2 trucks... Like if I go down to Boise, ID and hit the interstate and drive speed limit everywhere I'll see roughly 16-17 MPG. But now if I avoid the interstate and use all smaller roads and keep my speed down (RPM related too) then MPG's natural rise for me... Now the only thing I could say that might give a clue tha P-pump's don't advance/retard timing but I know that VP44 do retard timing at high RPM's As you see for me running high up the RPM scale just retards timing...
  19. Then there is a few of us that never got certain things.... [*]No warranty card in the box. [*]No extra high pressure spring. [*]No AirDog Sticker. I didn't know about this till about 2 years later... :banghead:
  20. Like I had a conversation with another member last night about this subject... It's best to put the vehicle in a inclose building at least. Remember the block heater is just 750w and the block is not insulated so if your parked out in the wind it makes the job keeping the block warm very hard. I Keep my truck in a un-heated shop and the temp might get as low as 34-35*F but the block heater can heat the coolant and manifold well into the 120*F bracket compared to outside in blowing wind of 0*F where the block here can barely get 80-90*F... And yes a Cummins will start just fine at 0*F without a block heater...
  21. Anytime the tach needle pass the 2K mark you can garantee a loss of MPG instantly... Like for me to run 55-60 MPH I see 20-21 MPG everytime... But now to hit the interstat and run 75 MPH which now puts me at 2,200 RPM now I'm down to about 12-14 MPG... Funny... If I stay in 4th gear (1:1 ratio in the trans) and go 45 MPH which is roughly 1,900 RPM's I'm clearing over 25-28 MPG But of course that's with 3.55 gears... The other factor is going from 55 MPH to 65 MPH the wind drag nearly doubles...
  22. 2002 is the only year that works absolutely right on... 2001 is most of the time doesn't work right at all... Now I'm seeing a few 2000 trucks I wonder if they happen to be later model kind of like the cross over point to the 2001 model? But if the odometer is not displaying like above then you need to use a code reader.
  23. Not bad... My first one failed at 45K miles and wiped out the VP44 at 50K miles...
  24. Sorry to say you'll have to see what it like under road load. 35 seems a bit low though...
  25. Single P DONE mens your not seeing the ECM codes... There should be 2 P DONE's... The video above... P-PCU---------P0500---------P Done---------P ECU---------P1693---------P Done Take notice there is 2 computers PCM (first) and the ECM (second)... So a single P Done means you got half the codes...
