  1. Like right now I got MoparMom fed and now getting ready to drop her off at her dialysis appointment. I didn't eat really I ate moms toast. My stomach is still touchy. Now after she is dropped off I'm heading to Nampa for Eileen's meds. Going to add an extra 90 miles on to my already 250 mile day. Need to feed the Cummins... 350 miles from tues till now.
  2. Lead acid all the way. Every single battery I've own in the last 30 years has lasted over 10+ years. I add distilled water every month and do equalize charging to the batteries. Even my ATV battery went 11 years before it crapped out. I've got 8 years on my current batteries. Sealed AGM batteries can't be equalized and no water added back. Once the battery does dries out its done. AGM batteries need to be charge slower than lead acid batteries to prevent gassing the cells and wasting the water from it.
  3. That is one problem I'm glad I don't have in any vehicles I own. Standard open diffs. No heat, no wear, and no problem. Clutches will only affect how it corners. Like making left or right turns sharp then the clutches have to release and slip a bit hence why you need friction modifier to keep it from chattering. This will add heat to the diff if the clutch are slipping excessively.
  4. Mine use to have a Hamburger menu on the right side with your home buttons which is now gone in the update I got (Beta testing). I wish that all files exported are stored to the internal memory not having to email to internet to another device. This is way stupid and silly. There should be a clone button to allow you to clone a tune and then a rename button so you can rename your tunes. Not have to export then import to clone and rename that is stupid once again for me 99% of the time without internet service or cell service.
  5. I've got a guy that dropped off a Dodge Durango and it got serious transmission issues. Lagging to engage the clutch and only shift proper if the gear selector is in 2nd. Gov Press Sen and Gov Press Solenoid is a start most likely being its got a CEL light too. Kind of like yesterday I got slammed with more work than I knew what to do with. Then on top of that none of the parts came yesterday on the freight truck. I ended up driving to Council, ID to pick up parts for the jobs 104 mile round trip. Like I'm working on Paul Shepherd sons truck. What turned into something very weird was the the guy that contacted me about this wanted me to teach him how to fix the problems with Paul Shepherds sons truck. Then he was asking if his friend could come as well and learn more too. Sure I said. By the time the got back there I was with 5 guys and teach 3 guys the basics of Dodge Cummins and what was wrong with it. This spawned off another job because my contact guy is buying a 99 Dodge Cummins for $4k. Need work and its a project truck. Finally after being in the cold wind for over an hour I finally headed back to the shop to get on to my other job for the day. My Landlord (shop) he borrowed a friends truck and managed to eat the alternator and lose a tail pipe. I manage to stuff the alternator for now and got him a running truck for towing trailers. His own truck has a possible carrier bearing issue. By this time my body was giving up. Cold, hurting and energy draining fast since I'm still not quite right after being sick. One last bolt and it rusted tight and the 1/2 impact rounded the nut. About this time @Wet Vette was contacting me and letting me know she is sick. That it I'm going home. Both got a bite to eat later that night but took a few hours of settling down. Here I am I'm getting packed this morning feeling like crap already and heading into a rain/snow storm today. Oh just fun info. odometer is 402,7xx right now. 238k miles to the moon, and it 476k miles to the moon and back. My truck is still going like a gang buster. Fighting the tune right now too. Had a nice 19 MPG going and retard again and slid down the back side too far. Now I gotta back track a bit. I'll most likely deal with that later today during breakfast in Weiser, ID. Once I get Mopar Mom to her appointment I've gotta run over to Nampa, ID and get @Wet Vette medication from her pharmacy. Then get back and handle the grocery shopping. This is neat for us. Eileen can be at home and update my grocery list as she is milling around the house and my phone will get the update minutes later. Listonic App. The other trick I got that is saving a bit of money now is planning dinners with Eileen night before I can give her a ring at New Meadows and she can have dinner ready when we get home typically. She is one awesome woman both a great cook and great partner. Damn it... It snowing... Fun days...
  6. I know some of you are wondering what is happening in my life. Most of you remember that last Christmas I was diagnosed with Bladder cancer. As of today I'm still clean, cancer free. I'm stuck with paying that hospital bill. What is going on is I'm still taking care of @MoparMom and trucking south to Ontario, OR. Laying down at least 1,200 miles a week. I've went out and started a second shop just down the road from home about 5 miles. I gotta admit someone is looking out for me. The jobs have been fairly plentiful and keeping my bills paid without getting super crazy. Then my other addition to the family is @Wet Vette. She has been a huge factor in things going on here at home, her family and even the business. It's been huge change in my life and things are crazy and but getting better with time. Like this morning we are foretasted for lots of rain and snow above 4,500 feet tonight. I've got vehicles showing up to both shops and trying to get a game plan between running south for @MoparMom and between to shops for jobs. Kind of why I'm here and then gone for periods. I've gotta say thanks to the staff here keeping things going and helping out. @Me78569 which he's working on stuff in the background and even @IBMobile keeping funds counted for us.
  7. Yup we need some info of what we are working with.
  8. Things to check... Balance of tires - oversized tires can get out of balance quick. Track bar - this can create wear pattern and also unbalance the tires. Driveshafts - remove them to check slop of each joint. Pinion bearing - with the driveshaft out you can check the bearing slop.
  9. Typically the 2nd screen is the most popular. Just sucks you have to swipe every single time you start the app. iQuad App needs to remember your last screen used. @Quadzilla Power
  10. Give a bit more time. I'm building a winter tune as well. Last tank netted 19.06 MPG with running temps of 20 to 30*F. Current timing... 14.0, 17.5, 21.0, 24.5 I've had a bucking issues between 1,200 to 1,400 RPM forever. Right at 30 MPH is a PITA going through Council, ID every trip. Bucking for the entire 2 miles. I'm pretty sure if I turn off the Quad it would go away.
  11. Biggest problem making sure you have a tablet or device that is up to date OS. Like myself I've got my old Azpen Tablet but out of the box it was only Android 4.0 which is too old to use. As for timing I'm working at building a optimal tune for winter yet and getting close to another 20+ MPG even in 0*F to 30*F weather.
  12. Yup. Check for error codes. Preferred method is with a live data tool and check the TPS value while you drive. If the TPS value maxes out or drops to zero it should set a code instantly. Then check for error codes. If your going to replace the APPS use a Timbo's APPS. Totally mechanical APPS with ZERO electronics.
  13. 1688 is the PSG on the VP44 is fried. This is caused by excessive AC noise which is bad alternator and poor ground issues. W-T ground wire mod will fix this from happening again.
  14. My last delete pipe (steel) last nearly just 2 years and the whole tail section fell out. Rusted out...
  15. There is only one Windows, there is only one Mac... Linux there is thousands of flavors. Android, Chromebook, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc. All the same Linux family.
  16. Most all sensors can be verified with live data tool. Like the APPS can be verified without replacing.
  17. I was at 4.5 spread and the starting at 14*. Then now dropped to 4.0 spread and gained 2 MPG. Now dropped to 3.5 spread fine out if I get the MPG's up. The cetane means more than than intake air. The high cetane fuels this winter ignite super easy high timing is counter productive in the winter.
  18. My train horn was awesome but I mounted the compressor in the bumper area and the road water and dirt ruined the little compressor. I've got to replace my compressor.
  19. I've been on Ubuntu Linux since 2006 or so. Linux Mint is a sub family of Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu is the main root of the Debian family and then Linux Mint is a offshoot of the Ubuntu (lime green line at the bottom).
  20. Yup. Everyone is going to ask for the cost of the VP44 and then the 4 hours shop fee (120 and hour at most shops). If he was close to me I would do the install as a favor. If it was closer I would love to buy it...
  21. Just another one of the Linux family. I'm just like you I'm running Asus laptop but instead of the Chrome OS just switched to Ubuntu Linux. The other favorite is the Linux Mint which appears to be a noobie favorite being it looks nearly the same as Windows. https://ubuntu.com/ https://linuxmint.com/ https://www.chromium.org/chromium-os
  22. Such a shame. Walking past a good truck that is rated for 1 million miles. I'm at 402k miles now.
  23. 350k miles from my factory radiator. I still have it and plan on have the header tank repaired and putting my OEM back in service in the future. There is ZERO scale build up and just the rubber seal that failed.
  24. Load it up with Ubuntu Linux and problem solved. My current Asus Laptop never got the chance to even load up the Windows 10. It was fired up on Ubuntu Linux and never looked back. No virus issues. Very secure operating platform. Windows software including the browser is known to be very weak towards being hijacked on the internet. Advanced User: When you get virus infected email it fun to open them up in Linux. Since Linux will not load any file that is not marked for "Executable" then the file is only opened to read in to leafpad or similar text editor. This allows you to look at the payload that normally windows would normally open and install the virus. Linux will not do this being you would have to mark the file as executable then log in as ROOT and then execute the payload to install the virus. Like the other cool thing you can separate your Linux OS from the home folder. Meaning Linux can be on one drive and the home folder on a second drive. This secures even deeper being that the OS in on a different drive. This machine has been running for 8d 21h. No anti-virus software to bog it down. I've got 22 GB of RAM only using barely 3G of RAM. This machine is about 5 years old and still going strong. Better yet no drivers for devices. Stats... Yup I've got A-pillar gauges on my Ubuntu Linux. Gotta keep an eye on the machine as you work it hard.
  25. This why the choices of light is either HALOGEN or HID's. LED's are not a good answer yet till the reflector is designed properly for the LED bulbs. Being HID's are based on lens design there is no issues with using a 50w HID bulb and ballast the only loss is the upgrade there will shorten the bulb life. Like if you could stuff a 9007 in a 9004 housing the pattern would be wrong. Just like looking at all the different LED headlight bulbs. The LEDs can be configured differently which will change the pattern of light off the reflector. This why the HID's are the best you can do because no reflector or fluting of the lens to mess up the pattern. The only version you can do is the H1 Mini's or D2S lens which D2S has a bigger path of light over the H1 Mini's.
