  1. Beautiful job... I have respect for people who care about attention to detail like I do. Nice... But question, Is that a spacer for the ECM on that gorgeous manifold? And is that a catch bottle and vent? If so, where did you mount it?
  2. If everything (including the tank) is mounted under the hood then I would think the heat itself would prevent moisture builtup. But that said, you can find mini dryers for air compressors you use in your garage. Homedepot stuff... Why wouldnt those work? Does it have to be "commercial"? You're not running brakes off these lines.
  3. Seems a tad oily for running nothing but a factory filter and then a BHAF. I would be curious to know how oily the inside of the intake horn tube is. Might be an indication of a leaky shaft seal.
  4. I feel that would only exacerbate the lack of gear options dilemma since reducing my tire size to 245's would effectively make 4th gear about the same as 3rd and 1/2 gear... That means I'd have to tow slower in 4th gear or push the RPM's higher to keep up with slow lane traffic because there's no way I can or would tow that much weight in 5th gear. I simply need a 7 speed manual transmission.
  5. I absolutely love the towing power. If there was anything I could change it would be gearing...or should I say, the lack there of. I would love to have at least a couple more gears. Or something like a splitter I use only for towing. Granted I have 3.54's but I dont tow enough to justify giving up overall driveability for 4.10's. Anyways... Yes, I tow a 14k-15k toy hauler (depending on what we're taking with us or how much water I have in the tanks), and I pull through these northern CA hills in 4th gear. I run the hills at 65 mph hoping that I can get to the top without having to downshift into 3rd. Generally that means pulling those grades WOT and watching my EGT's climb but strangely maxs out in the 1200*-1250* range. Boost is in the 30 psi range and the engine is pulling hard. Sometimes I'm amazed at how well this truck does too... I keep a close eye on the engine temps because at those EGT's the engine will start to climb fairly quickly. If the ambient temps are hot enough (usually 90*-110* summer heat) then the engine can reach about 215*-220* before I let off and drop into 3rd. If the hill isnt miles long or steep enough then I'm to the top before all that happens. Which brings me back to more gears because if I had a couple more options then this truck could pull that weight vertically. Hope that helps.
  6. Check out this thread... This guy did some serious investigating which may help you. https://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94-98-non-powertrain/2473791-weird-braking-issues-looking-second-brain-input.html
  7. I run an EZ and RV275's. A "mild" combo compared to what others run but tows like a powerhouse. But you cant add power to your automatic transmission without doing something to help it too...or replace it with a built unit. All depends on how much power you end up adding and what you're towing.
  8. Yes, do that. And keep the thread updated to how Nations addresses this. Definitely dont let grass grow either otherwise time will be their excuse.
  9. Interesting... I would like to know more about your situation. Like did you notice the AC noise right after installation? Did you contact Nations immediately? You have a 30 day return and a minimum 1 year warranty unless you opted for an additional warranty which is plenty of time to address your situation if it played out as you described. I'm not saying I dont believe what you're saying but I'm having a hard time believing that Nations completely ignored your request and is leaving you high and dry as if nothing happened. In saying that, if the AC truly is creeping up then why are you continuing to run that alternator? It would be in your best interest to stop driving the truck until this is resolved, if possible.
  10. I read some statistic years ago that stated only 1/3 of 30% of all oil production out of the ground is used for transportation. The rest is used for products and everything else made from petroleum. Wish I could find that info again...
  11. Dont get me wrong Me... We agree that we need to find the right means to meet the energy needs of society with the best outcome financially and environmentally. But thats not always what they tell you is best either. Do I think coal has harmed humanity?...absolutely not. Have I experienced smog?...yes without a doubt. Smog levels also depend on location of neighboring mountains and foothills which can cause climate pockets. For instance, the north state of CA has been in flames for months. We literally couldnt see more than 1/8 mile for about 1/4 of the year. Strange though that I can see the mountains today which are anywhere from 75-150 miles away. Where did all that smoke go? Maybe...just maybe earth is not as fragile as we think. Do I think there's global warming???...HECK NO. Why?...because there is ZERO proof, and the scientific data they use to support their claims are false and inaccurate. Plus they have no data to back facts either. The ONLY thing they can point out is that they believe the earth is getting hotter based on weird tests like the "pan evap test" and migration of icebergs. The actual percentage of earth "warming" is about 1%. And...thats using technology they used well over 100 years ago. Do I believe in "climate change"?...yes because thats been taking place for eons. Do I think humans are causing any climate change?...ABSOLUTELY NOT. Volcano's, wetlands, and marshes do more to the environment than we could ever. The millions of cubic tons released every day by natural events shadows what you I or anyone else could ever do. And...those things we deem as environmental disasters are gone not by anything we do either. Strange too given that earth and its environment is dynamic because you'd think that based on the things they propagate to us, we'd be swimming in our own sewage and breathing the stank of the billions. Well not to get all preachy but I'm just to say that I love this world and I believe in taking care of it but I'm not going to fall prey to the brainwashing BS rolling downhill from the high and mighty.
  12. I have no real opinion on nuclear since there's far more to it than just the perception of being "clean" energy... Although I do know that the long lasting effects of nuclear waste produced by nuclear power is something no one should gloss over. That crap is DANGEROUS...and still today they dont know what to do with it. But that said, please dont tell me Me78569 that you actually believe that fossil fuels and coal have done anything to humanity. That environmental propaganda is so misunderstood but yet completely overly used by those who simply care to scare everyone into a corner.
  13. If the grid heaters ever arent cycling then it should trigger a code...
  14. Mike...technology doesnt have time for logical and relevant questions. Just keep quiet and accept that for the better of (insert reason) you just need to keep your wallet readily accessible to those who are smarter than you.
  15. Just carry one of these around if you plan on helping people jump start their vehicles, (just a picture I got off the internet)
  16. Agreed... Except my concern is not my running engine but the potential problems of the vehicle which needs to be jumped. Unless your battery cables are completely disconnected then there's still risk of damage.
  17. Unless there is something completely different going which you're aware of in this video that I'm not...it just looks like the grid heater system is cycling after start. If you ramp the idle up to about 1100-1200 rpm the grid heater will remain on for a continuous period of time as long you hold the throttle there. I cant remember how long it remains on either but it doesnt cycle as often when the throttle is ramped up. And...I wont jump start anyone or anything with my truck. They're too sensitive to any electrical quirks, and things can easily go wrong jump starting something. I just tell people that I cant or I dont have cables.
  18. I have a Magnaflow 4" without a muffler. I blanketed (not wrapped) the first 6 feet about 1 foot past the turbo to stop radiant heat to the transmission. I know its louder on the outside but I'm surprised how quiet it is inside the cab. The only time I think the noise is getting up there is when I'm towing really heavy and thats more hard working motor noise than exhaust. Maybe someday I'll try a FTE but I'm in no hurry to spend the money and get things fit right.
  19. Actually that looks like fun. I'm sure he never complains about the mundane work...
  20. I wouldnt run a set of KYB Monomax if you gave them to me... Worst riding, stiffest, shocks I've ever had. I've had these Rancho 9000's on my truck for the past 15 years or so. The fronts have only been adjusted once but the backs get adjusted to setting 9 every time I hook up to my 5th wheel and back to 2 when I put it away. That said, I cant speak for Rancho's quality today. Cutting corners tends to be common in todays very competitive economic system...
  21. There's been sooooo many fires and sooooo much smoke over the past few years that at this point I'm sure everyone is simply exhausted trying to ponder the whats and whys... Last time I remember there are hills and mountains in the distance but I havent seen any of them for a long long time. At this stage I'm just concerned that governmental incompetence and random arson's are both the problem and both the reason why thousands of people are now homeless or dead. California is in an exodus of tax paying citizens who are seeking a better state to live but strangely we're also in a housing crisis of almost 200k homes a year due to the influx of migrants. Burning down entire communities and displacing half the north state isnt helping either.
  22. American muscle is freaking awesome...
  23. Hopefully you all have been paying attention to the town of Paradise in CA which burned up in whats called the Camp Fire... Worst fire in CA history. Its been said that 90% or more of the entire city/area was destroyed. The news is reporting the death toll at almost 50 people, but those who are helping who know law enforcement have said that the media isnt revealing the true devastation as the death toll is supposed to be over 1000. One house was found with 30 some people huddled in the basement who didnt make it out... The community was full of retired elderly who werent able to escape and the road in and out didnt allow people to escape with their vehicles which had people running down the hill. There's thousands of pets that have been rescued. And the fire isnt fully contained yet. Thousands upon thousands of people are displaced scattered from Redding to Sacramento trying to find housing and shelter.
