Swap 24v for 12v?
About the only way to do that is to swap wiring and PCM. Your 24v needs the ECM and PCM and a 12v only needs the PCM to run the alt, gauges, transmission. Then you get into trying to make the gauges work. Yes, it can and has been done, but I would think that it would be way less expensive to get your 24v running like it is supposed to.

lack of power,stock truck
Just remember, if the truck runs smooth with no smoke but has low power it is a fuel issue. They will run quite well with not much fuel.

Lack of power
Tracy, just before it shut down was the truck running decent or down on power?

Burnt wire,HELP!
Tell me where J/C 1 pin 28 is. If it is getting that hot then you need to look as far down stream as where the melting started. If it is in a connector then look to see where the other end goes. Chances are it is going to be something simple so don't over think it.

Automatic Treans Service.... What is best....
The reason for that is small particles of dirt/bands/metal get put into a place that the fluid goes but due to the flow it 'falls out' of the flow and collects. When a power flush is used the flow is not the same and it dislodges the built up crap in the lines. That crap goes a little farther down stream and plugs things like the check ball in the cooler lines ans starves the transmission for oil even though it was full.

Smoke switch
Why? All you are doing is wasting fuel and your money. Also, why do you suppose there are all the diesel particulate filters and urea tanks on trucks? People don't like to see the smoke and complain to the EPA and then we have worse laws to deal with.

NV4500 Problem shifting into reverse
That is because you stopped the gears from spinning when you went into first. The syncros in first allowed you to put it gear without grinding thereby stopping all the spinning gears.

Lack of power
That is true, Rick, but they still need electicity to pull the solenoid up and to hold it.If they loose power the solenoid will drop and shut the truck off. If one battery connection was suspect, what is the other battery doing?

Burnt wire,HELP!
You need to find the shorted wire first of all. Pull the fuse box and check the underside for anything that even resrmbles a short. In other words look for a burned spot an the wires and connectors.

Need a help with Raptor pump...
I would be cautious ordering from DTT. READ THIS It used to be a great company when Bill was running things.

Biodiesel at ARCO
I have not purchased straight #1 fuel for many years. The stations around here use a blend of #1 and #2. The colder it is the more #1 used. I haven't had any problem with fuel other than a plugged filter (in the summer).

Do I need to retain my fuel heater?
The short answer is no, you do not need the heater. My daughter's truck has been running for the last six years in northern Minnesota without it.

Biodiesel at ARCO
Jim, I live just west of the tip of Lake Superior and we are mandated by the state to run a minimum of B-5. This may answer some of your questions.

Anyone use a exhaust diverter??
Wouldn't that look a little funny running stacks and a tail pipe at the same time?

Fire Academy
Be glad it wasn't this place!! Fire claims Gordon, WI Fire Station, equipment September 19, 2013 Updated Sep 19, 2013 at 9:30 PM CDT Gordon, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Firefighters in Gordon battled flames Thursday afternoon at their own fire hall. The fire broke out at the building along County Road Y just after 12 p.m. Authorities said during a news conference Thursday that six trucks and the building are a total loss. There were sounds of explosions coming from the trucks during the fire. No word on what sparked the blaze, but we're told there were no injuries. Minong, Wascott, Solon Springs, and Barnes fire departments responded to Thursday's fire. Officials say those companies will continue to help out the town of Gordon as they recover from this incident. "We are working through the state, fire association, there are other fire departments willing to help. We have already gotten phone calls about equipment and what our needs will be in the future," Gordon Fire Chief Mike Chmielecki said. The Gordon volunteer fire hall was used as the headquarters for this year's Germann Road fire. The fire department had just added an addition to the hall. Senator Bob Jauch and Representative Nick Milroy say they will also work with the community to make sure they have the resources necessary to rebuild and equip the fire hall. There will be a fundraiser at the Buckhorn Bar and Grill in Gordon on Friday Sep. 27 to raise money for the fire hall. Story and video here

Obamacare is so screwed up
You need to check the facts. Yes there is a 3.8% tax, but not the way you portray it: http://www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/realestate.asp http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/government/a/Health-Care-Real-Estate-Tax.htm

Lack of power
Tracy, when your truck stalled did it sputter out or just shut off? Either way, with the symptoms you describe I would check the rubber boot on the shut down solenoid. The linkage has been known to corrode when the boot is torn or split from age. What happens is the solenoid won't pull all the way up and the truck still runs but not real strong and it may have even dropped to where the truck shut off. Once you restarted it the plunger moved far enough to run like it is supposed to.Tom

The land of bounty!
Don't even know if I will get a hunting license this year. Grouse are at the lowest part of their 11 year cycle here, so they are a lot more difficult to shoot. I do have lots of rabbits in my yard though.......

Biodiesel at ARCO
Yep, we are required to use B-5 at a minimum. That is why I said "Less particulate matter (soot)". Soot and carbon dioxide are a little different. I know the fuel should be clean, but B-99 WILL clean things out. Maybe this sign at my local Bio place will explain it better:

Whats going on here?
I still wonder if a person could put a diode at the alternator to eliminate any AC from leaking.... Maybe someone can tell me why it won't work?

Biodiesel at ARCO
Some advantages to running Bio: 1 Less dino oil = more 'eco-friendly' 2 Your truck will run a bit smoother less vibration at idle3 Your truck will be emitting less particulate matter (soot)4 Your fuel system will get cleaned out (tank too)5 Commercial Bio does not settle like home brew and is not 'dirty'6 Bio has excellent lubricityAround here is a place that sells B-99 and B-20. Bio is going for less than diesel here and the B-20 is about 20 cents a gallon less and B-99 is about 25 cents less. I run the B-20 most of the time. I have run a few tankfulls of B-99 and yes, my truck runs smoother, but, the mileage is slightly lower (less BTU like MM said), the truck hazes on an idle more, the power is slightly lower, and the exhaust stinks like burned cooking oil. B-20 doesn't seem to have any of the 'problems' that B-99 has.

P7100 throttle sticks off-idle
Rick, check the shut down solenoid. The boot can and does get torn and it will allow dirt and moisture to cause corrosion in the linkage pin or won't allow the plunger to lift all the way. Try starting the truck and see if you can lift the plunger any. You may also need to adjust the linkage too.

12v stock loping
I have a suggestion. You say there is no gas in it, but it still may be fuel related. Is there any way to get a couple of gallons of known good fuel and let the truck run on that to see if it still lopes?

Nissan Joining Forces with Cummins? WHAT!?
Toyota is looking at a Cummins engine also.......
