  1. Times have changed since I was on a small department. We kept our turnout gear (coat, boots, and helmet (that's it)) in our personal vehicle. If we got to the hall and a truck that was to go out on a call we just jumped in and took off not waiting for any other members. That was about 35 years ago...... Damn I feel old now...
  2. Speculation is that it may break up in a few days too. Maybe it will be enough to see with the naked eye around Christmas time!
  3. First time I ever saw it put that way! Good one Bill!!
  4. Don't feel too bad. We hit about -3*F this morning and it got up to +23*F this afternoon. It is 22*F as I type this. How much snow are you supposed to get Monday/Tuesday? That storm is supposed to bring us up to 12" of the white crap by Wed night.
  5. One place where I worked we had an International with a ceramic clutch. Only the boss (owner), me and one other guy drove that tractor and we all called it the 'rabbit'. The clutch was either fully released or fully engaged. Makes it a little tough to get going smoothly.
  6. Yea, I saw the video on the evening news. It would be cool to see it live! That video shows one hell of a large coronal mass ejection right at the beginning!
  7. Bill might be jealous if you buy his wife a present.......
  8. Yep. I bet there is still a lot of great info to be gained even though it is no more.
  9. I must be thinking of emission crap then......
  10. Uh oh....... Now the 'hounds' are on a scent.........
  11. 28 acres for sale right next to my place. Sign says $50k
  12. Don't the VE pumps have a KSB solenoid to alter the timing slightly to aid cold starting?
  13. Keep in mind manufacturers (no matter who) are only required to go back 10 years on a recall.
  14. Ain't that what tequilla is for??? TMI!! TMI!!:ahhh:
  15. Must be nice........ It was 3*F when I went to bed and 4*F when I got up.
  16. From what I understand the KDP was still an issue up until about 2000. If you are concerned just pick up a new crank seal and in about 2 1/2 hours you can check the KDP and have your truck back together. That way you are certain it will be fine. Klcammie, what do you mean the pumps are in a different spot on the case? They use the same hole (with different mounting) and the gear is the same size as the 12V engines too.
  17. I never said that........ I am like Dorkweed...... I hate gravity.
  18. I understand about what you mean dealers. That is why I got the right software to change programming on Volkswagons since there are three of them in my family.
  19. Believe it or not, MOST of the back issues (slipped disk, ruptured disk, etc.) are because of the muscles in your stomach are not strong enough. I screwed my back up when I was 17 and a couple of years later I was working in a junk yard. Me and a co-worker loaded a 40' semi trailer with car rims BY HAND. I used to do a lot of work like that and was able to put a Chevy 350 block (stripped out) in the back of a pick up by myself. Yes I struggled some but did not have back problems again until I started driving for a living.
  20. The third gen body style was only available as a 1500 series in 2002.
  21. Far as I know you would need the correct software to reprogram the computer to do what you want. If you get along good with a dealership you may be able to have them change it for you.
  22. So, since the camshafts are gear driven, how would it change the timing? You would have some gear lash, but that wouldn't amount to much.
  23. I didn't get much farther than where he said "Well, we made short work of that pile". Yea, the way that saw cut I am sure it was 'short work'..........
  24. If you deform your filter from the heat you have a lot more to worry about than buying a new filter...........
