  1. If you use the top of the oil filter be sure to use a 0-100 psi gauge. Cold right off the oil pump you will see almost 100 psi. The middle of the block on the left side you won't see even 70 psi.
  2. I have purchased the pins and boots from NAPA.
  3. I know the feeling. Forecast for tonight it is supposed to get to -28F. Got all the way up to -3F today and -8F for tomorrow's high.
  4. You aren't supposed to say that. You should have said "I figured it out"!
  5. Something that seems to work with flared fittings is to loosen the nut and retighten it. I don't know why that works, but it does.
  6. You sure it is turning over fast enough? That sounds more like it is cranking slow than anything else. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge on your truck? If so what does it read while cranking?
  7. We only went from 30*F to -13*F overnight. Not supposed to get above zero until about thursday at the earliest.
  8. I don't know, but it is a possibility of the lock-up solenoid sticking. How long has it been since the tranny has been serviced?
  9. I believe they are talking about this type of heater instead of a torpedo type.
  10. The only problem I see with the high mileage tires is the compound is a bit harder than a good traction tire. In other words the better the traction the softer the compound and less miles. You would need to figure out what you really want to do with the truck and tire combo.
  11. It sure sounds like you have a boost leak. Start the truck and open the hood. Grab the throttle and run the RPMs up. If you have a boost leak that you can hear going down the road then you will hear it with the RPMs up. IF you were lifting the head you would have anti-freeze problems and oil leaking all over from the compression blowing it out.
  12. You "should" be able to loosen the nut under the knob and then just unscrew the knob by hand.
  13. Legally or otherwise?? Legally you need to use a recovery machine to extract the refrigerant and store it in a tank. If you were able to do that then you could put the refrigerant back into the system AFTER you pull a good vacuum on the system. It is also recommended that you replace the filter/dryer anytime you open the system.
  14. Not sure what I am going to do for a DL when I need to renew. I have a class A CDL, but now that a doctor told me I need to retire due to Menier's disease I can't get a DOT physical anymore so I guess I will drop down to the lowest one. Oh well, I don't need any 'fancy' CDL for driving my truck even with two trailers on........ Besides a Class D is way cheaper to get.
  15. From what I see, the only thing I would want for indoor heating is a CO detector. Chances of it putting out CO are slim, but with any flammable gas it is a possibility.
  16. Be happy you aren't close to Lake Superior. We have had about 48" come down this month at my house and at the NWS in Duluth they said it snowed 21 out of the first 24 days this month and was only 4.5 inches from the record of the most snow in December. All I know is I am real tired of moving snow and Sunday night it is supposed to be about -20*F for the low and not above zero until maybe Thursday.
  17. Does the air come out of the defrost openings at the same time the vents are selected? If so then you need to look for a vacuum leak (which is more common than the evap plugging AND a whole lot simpler), BUT thee is always that possibility of a plugged evap.
  18. Both kids are running 2006s and wife has a 2012JSW
  19. Can of spray foam behind the glass???
  20. That would be the PROPER way to do it.......
  21. Even a Caravan is classified as a truck by Chrysler.......
  22. John, my daughter's truck did the exact same thing. It would start in neutral but not in park. It took two different switches to get it right.
  23. Why are they running the commercial backwards? There is no way to keep the trailer straight in reverse that long with no adjustment of the steering.
  24. Yes, the pick ups are on the left side, but I meant the Jettas. I have three Jetta TDIs in the family.
  25. Yea, and the fuel filler is on the wrong side to just get in line. I wish the US version would put the filler on the left side......
