  1. Some sort of catch container with a drain would be the way I would go. The baffles would help, but I would think they still would create a mess (just not as quick as before). With out going outside to look at mine how is the vacuum pump plumbed into the block? Is it possible to block it off or block the vacuum side of the pump for test purposes?
  2. You can push the key fob all you want. The timing is in the computer. You need the correct software to access it. As I said, I haver the software to access the computer on Volkswagons and it is all in the programming. The key fob is nothing but a transmitter.
  3. I agree with you, Michael. The vacuum system has worked for 17 years, so why not fix it for another 10+ years? That in all reality would outlast the truck.
  4. The more I think about this the more I am thinking it is something simple. I am thinking more like John is, there is simply more air stuffed into the cylinders and therefore more is going to be getting by the rings. You may be on the right track with baffles. It may be that there is enough oil floating around that it just gets blown out the breather under high boost. Is there a way to fabricate a catch bottle and tie both breathers into it?
  5. John, it looks like it uses vacuum for both engage and disengage. Mike, do like Bill said and check the hoses over good. It may be leaking some vacuum on the disengage side.
  6. If I recall it takes vacuum to engage the collar. It sounds more like the collar or actuator needs cleaned up to me. I am the same as you Mike. 2WD until you need 4WD and as soon as you can go back to 2WD.
  7. Wild and Free's pointer is not correct either.
  8. I know....... "Everybody likes a little a$$, but nobody likes a smart a$$"......
  9. Um, it is called a two wheel drive??
  10. 19*F BELOW again this am............. I need to get my daughter's car started somehow. Might need to put my torpedo heater on it for a while.
  11. Get something besides wd40. You would be surprised how much better an actual penetrating oil is.
  12. That should be adjustable (at a dealer) like the VWs are. That is all in the settings in the computer. All it takes (on my VWs) is a few minutes with my laptop.
  13. Got up this morning and it was 91*F COLDER outside than in my house.........
  14. So....... Exactly what were you looking for when you found this????
  15. What you need to keep in mind Dave is that to most of us 120* is pretty warm. If you have 190* water going in and 150* water coming out they both will feel hot even though there is a 40* TD.
  16. Then think about this........ At 50+ psi boost, how else does the engine build more crank case pressure? Does the vacuum pump know or care what the boost is?
  17. Oh yea? Tell me about it. My son, daughter, and wife drive them.
  18. Warmed up here..... all the way to +5*!!
  19. Welcome to the great white north.......
  20. Actual air temp when I got up: -10*F. Windchill advisory for the next day. Windchills from -25* to -35*.
  21. Auto Zone has them for $159 to $169 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Tools-Garage-and-Equipment/ScanGauge/_/N-26p9?filterByKeyWord=scan+gauge&fromString=search
  22. Why else would the crank case pressure build?
  23. RUH-ROH...............
  24. Maybe you would want to talk to YabbaDoo? She trains dogs for a living.
