You need to shop around, you could find a skidsteer trailer which is usually 14 foot and 12-14K axles used for that price, for that price you could find a nice heavier trailer. Heck you can look for a used 12-14 foot dump trailer as well, they are getting more available in recent years. PJ is a good trailer. If you have local classifieds craigslist ect look around, 3K for what you are looking for is a bit steep. Can't compare an old solid cast vehicle axle housing without spindles to mild steel tube type trailer axles and spindles. Modern axles are kind of chincey at best anymore especially anything under 6-7K axle. Plus once you go to a tandem axle trailer and start tight manuvers you are sliding or dragging one tire on either axle sideways and this is how they bend, the shorter the trailer the more prone it is going to be to this as well. You don't see this with a single axle trailer as it just pivots the single axle.Whoever was quoting you axle prices was flat out nuts, axles can be ordered for around 500 bucks with hubs add electric brake backing plate assemblies complete yourself for about 50-60 bucks per wheel + wiring.

How long? Personally I would jump to a 12-14K 18 foot trailer and you would have vehicle hauling capability as well, not to mention the trailer axles will hold up better if you are going to be off roading it, you will be bending axles and or spindles on a tandem axle trailer if loading heavy in off road situations............Believe me I know, I have seen it many many times and have fixed a ton of them as well. 3500 axles are for easy pavement jobs and from your pics will not give you a long life plus you will get into 16" wheels and can use your old tires from your pickup on the trailer.

Chicken Pluckers anyone?
I did that as a kid up through college, several hundred every year, as a kid I got the job of picking pin feathers after all the rest was done, that was the worst part of butchering chickens.:sleep:Actually you started at or should I say.....with the "Head" of the line and then progressed to pin feather picking.

Screaming Beavers
What do you guys mean buy "Checking"? Most of our wood is best split in the dead of winter to make clean splits other wise our wood on the plains is very stringy and hard work to split although I do split most in the summer it sucks big time.

"built" 47RE woes
Don't know why I thought the 47RE came along with the 98.5 24V. My DOH moment I guess.

"built" 47RE woes
I am off topic here and haven't followed this thread much but have noticed that there is a 47RE swapped into a 1997 12V which should have a 47RH which would have been much easier to deal with and bullet proof in the long run without the electrical bugs. ect.

S&W Florida vacation must see things from FL Natives?
If we have time we will hit the Miami area for a day or so. Won't get to that area, Ocala is north of Orlando, we are headed south and west from Orlando on the way to Key west and back is the main destination. will hit Tampa the first day as the wife has wanted to see Busch Gardens for years and head south from there. We have been directed by several others to see the Ding Darling wild life refuge and Kayak the mangroves there as well as the glades to see the real Florida backwaters.

S&W Florida vacation must see things from FL Natives?
Going to double post this as I am not sure how much traffic the other area gets here. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/7955-S-amp-W-Florida-vacation-must-see-things-from-FL-Natives?p=76038#post76038 My wife and I are headed to south west Florida in a few weeks for a week long get away. As the title says we are looking for advice from natives on must see things, we prefer non city non typical tourist attractions, more so into natural attractions/activities, we never go with plans we like to wing it as we go, after 15+ years of criss crossing the country it has never left us with a bad vacation yet. We are flying into Orlando and renting a car there. The only thing my wife wants to see is Busch Gardens the first day in Tampa from there we are planning to head south along the gulf coast and drive the whole Key highway and back to Orlando. So to you Florida natives we ask what your list of must see things would be in the area we are going to cover over a weeks travels? We want to give Florida another chance, we were there in February 3 years ago and were very disappointed, left ND at mid 30's, arrive in Orlando with mid 30's temps there too, 5 days there the first day we saw over 60 was the day we left it finally hit 70 and then rained, we drove to a relatives house on the beach in New Smyrna beach and went to Daytona and down to Cocoa beach and a couple days at Kennedy space center.

Did you do a solid axle swap too or did that year not have the ugly independent front axle?

Beating a dead horse?
I Rv during hot weather and use the cheapest stuff Walmart sells for septic treatment just to keep the smell at bay, I find that it helps to add about 5 gallons of water to the black tank before use with the treatment to keep smells down better too, Start using it with just treatment right away without enough water and things get pretty ripe quickly.

Butt pucker!
One question is where are you measuring the tranny temps at? If you saw 220 in the pan it was already deep frying normal oil as it was probably leaving the converter at 250 or so. If measuring at the hot line directly out of the converter you were still fine. Problem with the auxiliary cooler with a fan is that you are super heating the oil during the stalling and it may take a bit more heat out in the bigger picture in a maneuvering situation where you are getting things really hot it is not worth the extra expense and clutter to add one, they are more for around town driving and non lockup road driving more than stall maneuvering.I wouldn't worry about tranny damage if this was the first time doing it, if it was done on a regular basis then you got an issue and as posted low rage is your friend since you have little experience as a trucker.

Just added CRE Rocker flares to my 05
Another reason for these is that with the amount of muddy gravel I drive, without these the mud packs into the area between the bottom of the door and rocker/kick panel and I have had times where it was at freezing temps and the mud froze in that area and I could hardly get the doors open. As I stated before I would love to do bed liner but the rough course texture is a magnet for our clay based gravel mud which goes on like slime that sticks like glue and dries like concrete and if it has a rough surface like bed liner it takes a lot of pressure washing to get it to come off. If I had a pavement queen or dry gravel roads like a majority it would be perfect for protection but not for my conditions.

Well Grasshopper, practice practice practice and do it some more before hand in an empty lot with cones. As far as your tranny temp no amount of extra cooler is gonna help due to the fact you are trying to back a heavy load and in 1st and reverse there is no lockup and you are in full stall mode which makes the most heat very fast. There is no air movement through the coolers and things get "Heat soaked" and it takes even longer to cool off then. What oil do you have in the tranny? standard oil is good for 230 for short periods but will need to be changed out sooner, synthetics will handle temps over 240 for longer periods without damage but if you get things that hot regularly even synthetics need more frequent changing. As stated best to leave it on fast idle in neutral with a stick for the throttle ect to keep the rpms up around 1200-1500 to help cool it faster.

Trailer Wiring
Anytime I troubleshoot somebodies trailer wiring I look at the area where people like to use the best money maker ever from a mechanics stand point anyhow...........Scotch locks, I look for the taped up ball of scotch locks and 90% of the time that is where the problem lies along with several feet of rotted out wire unseen as it crawls inside the insulation and turns the wire green all the way.Word of advice for everyone, never never never use scotch locks in a wiring system and especially outside in the elements. Also never probe any wires insulation you just compromised the integrity of the wire and insulation the same as a scotch lock does. But hey.........I used to love them, they made me a lot of money over the years as I was fixing the damage they cause.

Beating a dead horse?
Regular household TP here even since my folks rved in the 70's. All goes into the same septic tank in the end anyhow, actually never knew why they were 2 different types anyhow. What is the argument between the two?

Jobs around the house you hate
Were a pretty hardy breed around these northern parts. After 5 months of 10*/-10* average Come March when the temps hit the 20's everyone is in tee shirts and shorts once it hits 30-40*. The Missouri river rarely gets above 62* surface temps to 50's a couple feet down on average and on 90*+ days pretty much everyone in the country is in the water. Our big lakes rarely get above 70* surface temps and upper 60's a few inches down and that is hardly relief on 90*+ days for us.

82 is closer to bath tub water temps to warm for me, perfect swimming water temp is 65-70 when ambient temps are over 80:thumbup2:

Frantz Filter Systems
Think of it like drinking distilled water versus water with added vitamins, minerals, electrolytes ect in it. You drink nothing but distilled water you will die from lack of nutrients versus drinking water with nutrients in it to help your body stay vitalized and able to cleanse itself. Base oil stock without additives is like distilled water it will keep you wet and oily but won't keep you alive and protected well for long.

Jobs around the house you hate
I hate everything that keeps me away from the water enjoying life on my pontoon during the summer, the older I get the more I hate winter, 10 years ago I used to love winter but that love is quickly fading.

Finally!
Get bags and stay away from the timbrens, I had a set of timbrens for my 05, I only used 2 times a few years ago and my kidneys are still hurting at the thought of them, Unless you don't mind driving around on a nearly solid rear suspension while unloaded, even with a heavy load on they were fairly harsh. I sold them IIRC someone on this forum bought them too.

Got a new toy today
Sorry I am kind of anal about some details, folks like the adjustability of the electronics versus a set P-pump. If one is after a useable daily driver and still have the capability of high HP the P-pump isn't the best choice. VP44 with 150-200 sticks and twin turbos and H20 meth injection capable 700+ hp and still a usable daily driver by turning the comp down priceless, constant tuning on a P-pump to go back and forth not very appealing to most.

Tornadoes.....
We are lucky enough to have a concrete cellar in our basement, it used to be a coal chute many years ago but the roof was capped with concrete and has a door separating it from the basement, all concrete and underground about 4 feet wide by 5-6 feet long.On our farm we had an underground root cellar by our house that was mulit purpose, was our root cellar and the pit our well and pressure tank were and was a storm shelter.
