Thinking again about 47re to nv4500 swap
This would be a great write up for this site.

Sluggish acceleration
What year of truck do you have? any mods? This may help the smart people on this forum to diagnosis your issue.

Teardown and Rebuild
No it doesn't eliminate it. With the old exhaust I had I never heard the whistle, now I can. It may not be as loud as the whistle in y our you tube link but you can certainly hear it.

Diamond eye exhaust
The install was pretty easy. I ended up with a 4' section of pipe left over. I bought the band clamps from FTE and those made the install a breeze. In all, it took me about 2 hours. I didn't have to put the truck on jacks, I just rolled around on the creeper. It sounds great. I pull my 5er to southern Idaho right after the install and there was no noticeable drone in the cab. The EGTs were cooler, but the system that I removed was a hodge-podge of constrictions--so no surprise there. Very happy with the system and I would recommend it to anyone.

RV troubles from the weekend
Thanks for the words I'll look into a regulator if I ever end up at a spot with hook up again.

Truck in the shop and new problems appearing every day.
For some people spending the money is a better option than doing the maintenance yourself. That may not make sense to you or I, but there a plenty of intelligent people that can't wrap there head around maintenance. I have worked for many years in aircraft maintenance on fighter jets. I have met a lot of guys that are extremely book smart, but when it comes to turning a wrench they are lost. I actually watched a guy use the wrong end of a crescent wrench to remove a small nut. He couldn't figure out how to use the thing , but on paper due to his test scores, he was a fully qualified technician. A task that may seem simple to some may not be the case to other. Time, tools, space may not be an option to some so I won't criticize someone for spending the money to get their truck up and running. Certainly he could have done it cheaper and the shop shouldn't have taken so long or cost as much, but that's for frogman to decide.

Teardown and Rebuild
I just installed a Diamond Eye 4" system, no muffler but I did install a 30" FTE resonator. I really like that set up. No drone but it does sound great and the install was super easy.

RV troubles from the weekend
No pressure reducer, unless there is one built into the trailer's water system. It was the first time I hooked up to city water, usually I just use the trailer water tank and pump.

Water Pump Finally
226,000 miles isn't bad. Obviously nothing will last forever, but having parts that go that far is good in my book.

Crankcase Vent Modification Pieces
My rubber hose is just a couple of inches long. It goes from the breather and then straight up to a PVC piece.

All fixed and running great now?

Crankcase Vent Modification Pieces
This is a great mod and cheap. I had an extremely plugged radiator because of the stock set up. This also got rid of the oil smell I had in the cab. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/42-crankcase-vent-mod http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/46-engine-what-happens-if-you-keep-the-stock-crankcase-vent

Have you considered a write up about the transmission rebuild?

How can I Lower My Egt's
600-630* isn't anything to worry about, why are you concerned about these temps?

dead pedal and hot weather
Here is some info for you. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/general-cummins/36-fuel-system/63-adding-2-cycle-oil-to-diesel-fuel I add a quart of 2 cycle for every fill up (depending how empty the tank is), my measurements aren't exact. It is about an ounce of oil for every gallon of fuel I add.

Front rotors on a Dually 2WD
I just replaced the drums, calipers, and pads on my front end and I found a lot of discrepancies with the FSM. However, between that Google and this web site I was able to figure things out.

MIAs
I haven't seen any posts or replies from a few folks that seemed to always have a presence on the site. I guess I was wondering if the are still vertical and doing well? Does Yankneck or MNTom ever get on the forum anymore?

RV troubles from the weekend
The family and I went to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho last weekend. In between all of the fun times that we had, the trailer gave us a few problems. The right side landing gear on my Fifth wheel decided to not go up or down with the motor...turns out the gears were stripped. Luckily I have an obsolete set which means the rebuild kit was more expensive that it should have been. I did get that put back together and it now works just fine. The camp ground we stayed in had full hook ups, never did this before. When I hooked up the pressurized water I noticed a steady stream of water coming out of one of the two pipe that hang vertical out of the bottom of the trailer. I am not sure what these are. I have noticed small drips on other drips and I have tried to follow the lines to see where they go but I get lost in the cabinetry. I figured it may have been a drain for condensation coming from the fried/freezer. Only with the pressurized water did I have this stream coming from the trailer. When I used the RV's pump, there was not water coming out like this. Also, the pressure when using Hot Water was a lot less than normal with both water from the outside and the RV's tank. Cold water has great pressure. I have read that the water heater's check valve could cause this. I probably out to pull the hater heater out and have a look. It is a steel tank and I had to clean up some build up on the threads when I put the anode rod in. Maybe I have build up somewhere that is prohibiting water flow. We worked around all of the silly issues and had a great time as a family but I would like to get the problems fixed before the next trip.

Side-to-Side Play in Brake and Clutch Petal
I was driving home last night and the brake and clutch petals got weird on me. There was a lot of play side-top-side and the brake petal was sticking. I was able to safely get it home. The e-clip on the brake pedal side was gone and the rod had pushed through as you can see from the pictures. I removed the brake light switch (guessing that is what it was) and I was able to wiggle the rod back through. However, getting the nylon insert in proved to be a pain. I disconnected both the clutch and brake petals from their respective push rods and I was able to quickly shimmy the insert into place. Nothing earth shattering here, but I thought I would share in case anyone had this problem in the future. Not sure where the e-clip went or how long it had been missing. I combed the floor and came up with nothing. Off to find one now. For future reference the part# is 04103262 for these retaining clips.

Brake Job
I tried and tried to rebuild my front calipers. On the 99's there is only one piston per caliper. I couldn't get the boot to seal to save my life. I tried every trick in the book. I found a note deep in the interwebbs that said you have to have a special press. After many hours attempting this rebuild I broke down and bought remann'd claipers and I haven't had a moments issue.

Installed New Exhaust
Yep, it came with the kit.

Most amazing mod I've ever made to a 2d gen... a new cupholder.
Aren't these cup holders supposed to be compatible with standard transmissions? anyone know how true that is? I have considered buying one of these, but I hate to spend the money only to find out I can't shift with the cup holder installed.

order of reliability improvements/over heating
Are these weaknesses unique to 2nd gens? Or to later years also have these troubles?

Installed New Exhaust
I don't notice any drone. The exhaust isn't loud at all. I has a low-throaty sound. I really like how it turned out and I am sure glad I didn't take it anywhere to have the exhaust done.
