  1. gotchya thought you were selling the 2nd gen ........... I've been debating about sellign mine off an on .......... just a few things Id like to improve like rear disk brakes and interior uplholstery and dash as well as extended cab. Think I'll be keeping her as always - same reasons .......
  2. If your going to sell - do it before it hits 100k miles. You'll lose $1k-$3k for no reason. I like the toy haulers ....... but not for full time living. Only way I saw it work was a single guy with his ATV doing insurance work. Then he kepy the ATV out when loaded on ground .... and converted back storage into an office for work. Id stick 1 ATV sideways on the back of regular 5th wheel on a custom hitch. Seen someone do that with a harley. Not sure what the rules are though.

  4. Nope .......4 changes and still running my orignal tubes. Same for a lot of guys. Problem is you cant see the condition until they are out - but generally your fine.

  7. I hear ya - that would suck - but the percentages for errors are so small comapred to number of users usign it that I guess the benefits outweigh the risks. A dealer reflash will cure most smarty/ECM issues also. The UDC does look good and apparently its still comming ........ I'm keeping my smarty till then - and guess I will decide after. I wasnt that into the QUAD adjustable tunes ...... so not sure how much I will like smartys UDC ...... its good for the 1st week and then its like ....... I firmly believe us AUTO guys are restricted to MPG around town due to the slipping TC. Probably in the tune to 2-3 MPG. The fact I can hit 21-22 on hwy but only 14 around town tells me that ...... and ryans manual swap netted him 2+mpg also. Guess what I mean is only so far you can play with the timing and injection on a vp44 and then you get very minimal returns. As for power - well injectors seem safest/cleanest way of doign that.
  8. For a bit more than the new one you can get some porting done as well ................. but I understand wanting a new one. Going to do studs while its off ???? Or staying at the power your at ?

  11. What if you want to go for aftermarket ? Not sure how easy to find a 3rd gen track bar ...., to fit the bracket
  12. Bill - what was that company you had dealt with (friend ?) that rebuilds boxes .... I remmeber talkinig with him and he seemed real good - I just didnt pull the plug at that time. You recommend borgeson over his rebuilds ? You recommend borgeson replacement over just a steering brace ? Wont the flex still be there ? link for "Also get a 3rd gen conversion trac bar and kit too." ?
  13. ^^^^ this .... Yes Definitely sounds like your on limp mode. Either wrong valve body or need a new governor pressure sensor etc

  16. I used two taps ........ 1 for edge and 1 for other guage - eg tap it twice. different vendors use different temp offsets on teh probe for the signal ....... seemed safer/best to me. You can easily plug up later if you remove one. - - - Updated - - - How many dynos was that on ? Adjusted numbers ? Yeah I could be higher ...... but I wont know till I dyno it. Generally (like 80=90%) of time I see people saying oh I should be x HP and when they hit they dyno they are considerably less. So my guesstimate is by undersellimg myself from what other people have hit with similar setups. Havent seen many people hit over 550 with 7x.010. What tuner were you running ?
  17. was wondering that ......... given we really have no emmissions controll apart from a turbo and a VP44 - guess they could come after the performance side of things (bigger injectors and chips etc). Hope not ......
  18. black smoke when on the throttle ? Is the engine lugging at all - eg are you in OD ? Id try 1) check for boost leaks with a homemade boost leak detector 2) try running it out of OD and rolling into it ....... If your lugging it a little it wont clean up until it starts spooling so that can sound right ..... I can black out an intersection if I dump at wrong time.......
  19. he351cw/s472 sac 150 (7x0.010) injectors Juice Hot stacked Smarty Most guys with similar setups are between 475 and 525hp. To get over 525 seems you need 7x12 or bigger generally. I have a couple small boost leaks, and an auto (most of the numbers I refer to above were on manuals). So without being dialled in - and maxxing out at 50psi ...... my best guess is 450-475 HP. I have a TST to put with the smarty at some stage ....... and then might get her on a dyno.

  21. X2 Or slightly less ... To get over 350 you really need bigger injectors and turbo with a tuner .. . Give you an idea im hitting 50psi , have a juice hot stacked with smarty , twin turbos and built 3x disk auto and 150 sac injectors and probably around 450 hp
  22. Going to do brakes and power steering fluid... Haven't done before, couple questions:1) what size tubing for caliper coupling?2) when doing rear passenger wheel, just keep pumping until it turns clear then move to next wheel...?3) what happens if air gets in line - how will you know? Will brakes get spongy and I'll have to rebleed... One wheel or all wheels? 4) power steering - just use a turkey baster? Thanks!
