  1. JL - saw this http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-2nd-gen-all-products/329924-getting-rid-1999-5-9-engine-60-000-miles.html dunno if an good for you this late in game:shrug:
  2. There's some rust on the 4 fenders - but nothing huge for 16 years ?? I know it might be worse once you look at it behind fender but ??
  3. What - I don't have methanol yet - so figured thats the closest "home brew" I could get to match Yeah gonna get under her on weekend and see if any play in anything. I am wondering if just a balance issue since it doesn't pull or shake in stearing. Thne those beads look kinda neat. Then maybe a alignment. Might ping you offline - thinking about running meth/water injection so I can run my juice on 3,4,5 and pick up some MPG towing. ciao
  4. This one does http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?module=htmlpages&func=display&pid=136 and I think most new ones do that plug into MAP. yes to the boost elbow on a manual and a j-hook/turnbucle on an auto
  5. clean truck http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Ram-2500-DIESEL-4x4-12V-Cummins-Turbo-Diesel-Long-Bed-NO-RESERVE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem255e3662fcQQitemZ160494412540QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks
  6. Yeah I agree - I thought levels 1-2 nontapped and 60/65 hp ...... and get levels 3-5 when tapped. Whats the issue with edge ?? Are you a SO or HO vp44 ??
  7. Yeah - I thought the stuff ISX was pulling om MPG comparisons was useful. especially with the talk of the new gassers and their TQ/HP ratings. Obviously all of us have diesels for the reasons we all know (towing, endurance, efficiency and power) but I thought it was a good thread of info to look at the costs versus a gasser. They have some nice features now - but so do the enhanced new diesels all good:thumbup2:
  8. awesome - those beads look neat .......didn';t quite get the install - need to read a bit more - you break open the tire valve to get beads in (on existing installed tires) ........ but then I guess you need to reinstall a valve and reinflate ........ will read more yeah I need to get under and check for any movement in joints etc hard with a gravel driveway at rv park to lift safetly :P might go find a abandoned hard top/park on weekend . Suspecting its a balancing problem as can;t feel it pulling or moving at any mpg .........but dunno thx guys What kind of aligment can be done ? and cost on these HD 4x4 ?
  9. Ok - so you know I hate showing my "jr badge" ..... but 65 mph - start to get a shake in the truck front end. Can't feel in steering wheel.Only thing I notice at front end is the inside edge of the tread is definately wearing quicker. Can these 4x4 be balanced, aligned etc ?? Assuming balancing yes ...... alignment other ? Have newish shocks and springs - but they all look/ride ok.
  10. I've been thinking about that seriously ....... except say I can pick up a HX35 good used for $200. Might drop 50 EGT ?? *guessing* or spend $800 for a good used larger turbo (s300) and drop 100 EGT *guessing* or spend $300 for a methanol/injection - and get 150 drop EGT *guessing* catch my drift ?? The turbo would be nice for other reasons - but on a cost basis
  11. Yeah I was running 1100-1150 comming into flagstaff (7000ft) for like 90 minutes - was getting me a bit nervous. So many small hills up running in that low gear (OD). Wholly shmolly !!! .......................... I don't know if my truck would make that towing - serious .........................eeek I think I did like a 10% grade and I had to drop to 40MPH and keep my boost at like 28 in order to keep my EGTS at 950-1000. She was working then.
  12. Ha - thats rulz out just about 70% of this forum !!! *joke* Nice gesture man.
  13. well momma - all I can say if the top pic matches the story in ID ..... then as soon as my divorce comes through I'm setting up shop next to MM. oh - damn - I'm not getting divorced *joke* ....... ISX ---- jump it that "ute" of yours and go check it out !!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Ute
  14. yo - what do you tow with on your edge COMP ................ what level ?? when towing heavy
  15. I *think* he has replaced the injectors and had the same issue before and after. Guessing unlikley that they were installed wrong both times Smokey - can you do a writeup on doing a compression test sometime ??? Never done it. How to make sure done proerply on the cummins. Then if you do it I vote for a *sticky* under the technical section ..... I'd like to do it one day. For giggles.
  16. sucks ... yeah ...... well find out what he's buying for his truck - and I'll go pull one of a wreck and tell him it was working fine and sell it to him cheap. Then Ill ship you the $$ and when he gets a useless turbo or vp44 I'll just say it was working fine before I took it off the truck *semi-joke*So you gonna get that head from the machine shop ?
  17. Heard it twice from guys on way down here - would ask them when fueling up - hard to know if to trust or not though - eg hand or lieometer ? Yeah best was 20.2 or something so far. Towing around 12.5-13. Seems to be ok - but then I look at yours and theoretically I wonder why the large diff. I am thinking of tryin to tow on the flats in level 3 as long as I can keep my EGT's in check and see what that does.Mike - whats level do you have your edge comp on when towing ? 2 ?
  18. http://www.fordvehicles.com/2011superduty/?p=headtohead&video=towingcool videos
  19. Man - I wish I could have got ISX to tow my 5th wheel :P - whats that 12v weigh isx and rated to tow btw ?? I get 11-13 with around 9000-10000 lbs. Can't seem to get any better - I generally keep at 60 - but sometimes on a big hill i will briing to 70 to help me get further up and avoid dropping gears. I hear occasionally of 3rd gen guys getting 16-18mpg ...... but I am thinking this is not hand calculated ........... Best I have seen is ISX - and then I wonder - why do the 24V get less MPG ...... I means its not like 1-2 mpg - its like 6-8 mpg ??? don't get it ...... especially since 24v don't have any emissions stuff really
  20. So for average diesel use (guessing here) 20000 miles daily mixed driving - lets say both get same MPG (~17) $3294(diesel) $2824(gas) 10000 miles of heavy use (towing/hard on accelerator) say diesel (~12) and gasser (~8) $4667/2(diesel) ..... $2334 $6000/2 (gas) ...... $3000 Means $5628 diesel$5824 gas So roughly same -> comes down to expenses to upkeep truck ............ but go heavy towing .............. say 10000 miles daily/mixed $3294/2(diesel) $2824/2(gas) 30000 miles towing/throttle $4667*1.5 (diesel) $6000*1.5 (gas) $8,662.50 diesel$10,412.00 gas So now almost saved $2k in 1 year ................ add that over 5 years and thats $10k So for me - I would need to work my truck for 5 years ...... with some good towing to see a ROI lmao CAJ - need any 2000lb loads hauled anywhere ?? (Of course that all depends if GASSERS do only get 8mpg towing heavy ......... sounds right from what I heard - but dunno about the real new trucks).
  21. hahahahaha drano - what he need drano for with a mean right hook like that hahahhahah
  22. Hey - yeah I was curious if you guys got much better mileage. One guy on road said he used to get 18 - but thinking that might have been from his lie-o-meter.I seem to be in 11-13 range - and was almost considering a new turbo or meth_water injection seems I might be wasting my $$
  23. http://revmaxconverters.com/torque-converters/performance-truck/47re-truck-torque-converters Speak with frank. I liked the company. http://revmaxconverters.com/about/shop/47re-stage-3-torque-converter says 850ft-lbs torque for $399 :P I went with a 3x disk (1500 ft lbs) ..... probably should have stayed with single.
