  1. That's what I was thinkin too Mike. If that were the case it's either suction or vent problems right?
  2. Ah ok, I thought it was a specific part made for this sort of application.
  3. If you were having suction issues that should show up via lower fuel pressures. If I'm wrong about this someone please chime in but as far as I know those two things go hand in hand. If you want to see if the tank isn't venting you could always get it warm and have the problem show up and either open the fuel cap or do a bucket test. Either one would tell you if the problem was in the tank or somewhere forward of that.
  4. OK if you're seeing solid pressures then I would personally rule a fuel leak out. I think the hardest part with this being an MPG drop is you have to fix or tweak on thing, then drive for a bit and see if the MPGs are better/worse/same and go from there. Definitely not something you can just fix and see the immediate effects of it. Anyways, hope you start getting better MPGs and let us know what you find out!
  5. If he was getting any suction leaks there would be less fuel pressure. Hodag have you seen that? If so a bucket test could point you in the right direction to start looking for leaks.
  6. @KATOOM ahh ok, that looks pretty good, I'll have to keep that in mind whenever an exhaust is in the works. Mad far as those T's are they completely welded on? Or is there a bolt on option?
  7. That's a good idea on the wrap, what did you use?
  8. Hmm what was the reasoning for loosing MPGs after upgrades like those?
  9. So you're saying the cure to in cab drone is putting on twins!?!? I'll let the wife know!!!
  10. Upload to youtube then post the link here!
  11. I may be misunderstanding you but it seems like you may not be bleeding fuel from the correct place on the VP44. They are banjo bolts that are attached to the VP. When looking down into the truck, the LEFT one is the VP44's return line and the RIGHT one is the fuel supply line and the one you want to bleed. As far as injectors, like it's been said before they just need to be a few turns (if that) loosened and you'll know when fuel is coming out steadily. Every time I've re-bled my truck it's started with at least 2 lines still cracked. It will run like crap for a bit but once you tighten them down you're good to go. So like CSM was stating, you have to start from the back and work forward. So start at the VP supply, then up to the injectors. If you're bumping and not getting any fuel to your injectors, trying holding the starter open for 10-15 seconds to get fuel up to the injectors. Once you see fuel you can get the injector bolts barely tight and she should start right up. From there just tighten down the injector bolts. Hope this helps and if this is what you were already doing then I apologize! ***not my original pic***
  12. What do you mean bleeder bold on the separator? Seems like your getting fuel to the injectors, but keep in mind that you may have to actually crank the engine over to fully prime. Each truck seems to be a little different. One of my trucks will prime up to the injectors just by bumping the key and letting the fuel pump flow. The other I had to leave injectors cracked and crank the truck until fuel came out. Make sure you're closing off injectors prior to them spewing JUST fuel, no bubbles. Hope you get her back on the road!
  13. Same here, although I feel the more I felt I listened for it, the more I thought it was there. But if I just was driving and enjoying the sounds, it wasn't a bother. It does get fairly loud at highway speeds but not terrible unless under decent loud or grade. That's what exactly the way I approached adding mine. Figured I'd start straight and add a can later if I wanted. Doing it the other way around is a little harder. You won't be disappointed with a DE that's for sure.
  14. Diesel Auto Power is a good spot for most of those parts. If you read the description on the end link they'll typically state the range of lift they can accommodate. As far as track bar, I'd say just pick whichever one is adjustable and fits your budget.
  15. end links are an easy and fairly cheap install. If your getting swaying issues at higher speeds, that sounds like track bar to me.
  16. You guys and your snow antics!
  17. Quick update post here... I had to get mud flaps put on the truck I'm personally not a big fan of flaps or flares but local law enforcement sure is! Anyways I had a local shop fab up some brackets and mount them so I wouldn't rip them off and they'd at least look like they're supposed too. Over all I think they turned out ok, probably could've done it myself but times not on my side these days and I needed them to avoid the $195 fine!! Either way as long as I live up here I'll just have to learn to live with em! The last couple days have been awesome mail call days. DOR delivered this little (read; ENORMOUS) baddie... Really looking forward to getting this on and see how much it'll clean up my wander. I installed the VPmax steering box brace last week (sorry no pics!) and I feel it's helped a bit but there's still the side to side action so I'm sure this'll fix it. Hoping to get a decent write on that when it goes in. And a special thanks to Tyler aka @TFaoro for lending me his smarty for a bit! I'm looking forward to messing around with this as best I (and my stock tranny) can without getting into to much trouble. Thanks again Tyler! More to come later!
  18. Mike do you get any cab drone?
  19. I'd say it all depends. Here's mine with just BHAF and 4in tbe and I think it sounds fairly 'spooly' for just those mods. Skip to 2:45 Exhaust
  20. Good points. I'm pretty close to you in thinking about these trucks. I'd prefer something better then stock, be able to get up and go pretty easily, but not at the risk of smoking out intersections or putting extra crazy strain on parts. I still DD the truck and plan to continue that, so that's why I've set my power limits to 4-450hp. The only reason I'm even doing and messing with the turbo now is I'm going to sell the 99 once I salvage what I want off of it so figured I should do it sooner then later. I'm still in the process of getting my suspension/steering cleaned up, then it's time to start saving for a trans... THEN I'll look more into da powa!
